I really hope something comes from this story. Either it’s proven that it was all factitious lies, conjured up by someone who was abetted by The Sun and this leads to The Sun being sued or dissolved in a similar fashion to News of the World or The Sun go public with these receipts they are supposedly in possession of and drag this alleged Nonce. It can’t just fizzle out into nothingness. I simply won’t allow it

Surely if there was no truth to this, Huw would've come out with a statement such as "I am aware that xyzzy have made allegations against me in relation to xyzzy, I can confirm that there is no truth to these accusations and I have instructed my lawyers to do XYZ"

I no longer think poor mother. I think this is pretty sick to go against your child like this, even if it’s 100% true. In fact, especially if it’s true… you e got a child who has drug problems and so potentially MH problems and you pull this shit? I would never ever speak to her ever again. She’d be dead to me. The person is 20 and entitled to make their own decisions, even if the mother doesn’t agree.

The young person has been very badly used, especially by the Sun who ignored their statement on Friday saying it’s not true.

Are you a parent? Putting this situation to one side, I would do whatever it took to prevent my child from dying, even if they were 20 or older. Sometimes as parents we make mistakes but most of us do what we think is for the best at the time. I would rather lose my child by them never speaking to me again than by dying of an overdose.

I find this very odd. The police are not investigating anything, and the story is now rubbished by the youngster, and that photo of Huw Edwards is actually just a photorealistic imagining of a middle aged man scowling with his arse out?!?

All I will say is this - the BBC and the Met police’s reputation are down the toilet, already. If there is any kind of covering for their corrupt talent, and sweeping under the carpet of any impropriety, they have to be finished as they currently exist. I’ve heard an ex Met police officer say they need to sweep the whole lot out, and start again. I would back this, and likewise for the BBC, and any other public service, including Government. It seems rotten to the core.

sorry haven't caught up as it's literally impossible to, but as someone who's been SA'd has it not been considered that perhaps the young person involved just doesn't want all this to come out? like, i personally never involved the police as i didn't want to relive everything, and would probably brand my mum telling others my situation as 'rubbish' too if i didn't want it to get out

I was in an ‘unwise but not illegal’ relationship from the age of 18, during which I was subject to both SA and coercive control.
When I eventually saw the light and left, my parents found out part of what happened, which I’d confided in a friend. My father decided that I needed to talk to my (male) GP about it.
I denied everything and refused to discuss it. Because I did not want anyone to know. I was still firmly in denial about it all, too, and blamed myself. But mostly I didn’t want anyone to know.

For telling the GP beforehand and forcing me to go, I hated my father. And for breaking my trust, I couldn’t forgive my friend, even though she was trying to help.

So even if this was all totally legal, consensual, and ‘just unwise’, who would want their private life being shared by a parent?
