Disagree, I watched this show and whilst it was a step-up from Atypical it was still awash with stereotypes and lacked true representation, the interviews floating about with the actors who played Jack & Violet are also very problematic.
I listen to the people in my life who are actually autistic and they all loathe the term “being on the spectrum” or ASD.
Oh I wish I had the screen shots so I could show you what I mean as her comments saying she never had an issue were actually in response to someone sharing a story of abuse. What Lauren did was actually just what you accused me of. Completely understand the Julia Gillard obsession. I’ve heard her speak and she is amazing.

. There’s no blanket rule, everyone has their own individual preferences. The only way to know what someone prefers is to ask that individual person. It’s widely used language, which doesn’t make it right, but it also doesn’t make it wrong. LDB is one of the few influencers who probably would engage in a reasonable discussion around it and change her views and future behaviour. It’s been discussed to death here and I don’t think anyone is changing their minds

I just wanted to offer perspective but I’m really regretting it because the whole thread has been derailed so I’m apologetic to everyone in this thread and hoping we can just leave it be now.

I didn't ask why people didn't like LD so I could defend her but with this I just wanted to say that it was an incredibly scary time and her words resonate because Australia truly was atthe mercy of Mother nature. Where I lived we were door knocked and had our belongings packed to evacuate and now even my family, who would want to, just cant understand the fear that we lived through. I think LD just wanted to acknowledge what was a very scary and significant time.
