Yeah Julia did (I think) a video explaining why all her friends are so beautiful - she lives in LA and used to dance for a living so knows a lot of dancers/models/general LA types I think was basically the answer.

I don't generally like roleplay unless it's really soothing and I find most of Emma's are. I hate spraying sounds though and she does a lot of these early on - so does Julia

I've not seen PsycheTruth I don't think, I'll have a look. The member only stuff is annoying though - I get that ASMR isn't as easy to make money from on YT because it's hard for them to ad place (I use premium anyway) and often get demonetized because people report but I'd have more respect if they made EXTRA content for members/patrons/whatever rather than obviously spending their time on doing that and giving everyone else poor content.

It reminds me of when Gibi tried to set up her own app - Zzzs? or something - it was like $10 a month and the money was spread equally across all of the ASMRtists contributing (with her at the top of the pyramid taking more) - it went down really badly, I didn't follow it afterwards but there was a big reddit thread on the ASMR sub talking about it.

A couple of my lesser known favs are ESC Reality - she does roleplays mostly but uses backing music which I really like and has a creepy sort of vibe - she actually records all her videos and then adds the sounds on post production - you can kind of tell she's lip syncing sometimes but I think this is amazing as most of her videos are over an hour long and it makes the sound quality absolutely AMAZING. She has an aromatherapy massage video that I listen to at least once a week.
Also TingleFix - she does much more old school just talking and tapping on (mostly) makeup products and has a super relaxing voice

I think PsycheTruth ended up doing patreon originally as they do a lot of back tickling videos that were constantly reported and demonetized. They were popular videos too so the impact was huge. They do occasionally put one out for free and I guess they can take hit now they still put out decent free content but now you can see free vs member only on their channel you can see the difference in volume.

I'll check out the recommendations - asmrvilla is a good one for tapping and talking but she does put on a bizarre British accent to disguise herself which cracks me up

I just had a completely random memory: does anyone remember a female ASMRtist with long dark hair that used to dress in incredibly slutty clothes (usually just lingerie) and never ever showed her face? I think she often showed her mouth and wore bright lipstick. What on earth was she called? I think she may have had her channel deleted by YouTube a couple of years ago because of her NSFW content. I want to say her channel name was something about lips?

Is anyone else here a fan of [Esc] Reality? I get so many tingles from her videos. Her one on burnout got me through some tough times over the past year. She's one of the few ASMRs that don't put ads/sponsored videos on their content. I'm really grateful for that as I tend to use these videos to fall asleep.

She's also very anti-influencer in that she actively discourages para-social relationships. Just wondering if there are any other fans out there

Now she's back to ASMR for the £££ no doubt. In the comments she's all thanks for her support when it was however long ago she was saying about how people kept asking her for more asmr and she didn't want to do it.

I know it's minimal, but given her attitude and other ways she's shown us... i'm like eh

Whoa I didn’t know Lily was involved in that. I remember Mary’s video explaining and she hadn’t been racist, I believe she said she had a family member in the military and she wanted to keep her channel non political, but I could be mistaken.

I remember it vaguely, I think all the ASMRtists were doing statements or doing the blackout thing for BLM and Karuna just rounded on Mary for not doing it and instigated a pile-on. Really unnecessary, out of order bullying basically. But that's KS all over.

Not directly but she was essentially asking people to check out the videos sponsored product to help her afford a new couch. I generally really like Julia but I feel she's really tonedeaf about money, I don't think she should have to apologize for her newfound wealth or having a boyfriend who is clearly very financially supportive but a little perspective during a global pandemic wouldn't hurt. She's started to get really annoying rich horse girl vibes

The people who tend to go on about women supporting women, are people who only support themselves and do very little for others, it's just their way of trying to be superior. I'm happy to support anyone who deserves it, man or woman, but not someone who feels entitled because of who they are. I'm genuinely happy for her, but Other than her ASMR I really don't like her

Excellent post @viewtube. You've articulated many things about her that I have picked up on too, re her parents treating her like a child, and apparent lack of friends. Their diet has always sort of amused me to be honest! Says she's a vegetarian but appears to live on packaged potato items - where's all the lovely, fresh rainbow coloured vegetables and salad ingredients lol (from what I've seen which admittedly isn't much because the vlogs bore me - I'm all about the ASMR). You're right though, I haven't actually seen any nasty comments on her videos. I didn't see the post where she says her Dad had a go at her. If he did, sounds like he told her some truths that were uncomfortable to hear. She'd be much better off talking it over with a mental health professional than her viewers/ followers

I have worked with many patients who were similar to Laura, she comes across as a very sweet natured person, so it's quite sad. I think her sad thinks the tough love approach is the way, but it has quite a bad affect on her selfesteem and confidence.

All very well said. I haven't watched Laura's ASMR in a while but I remember that being a pattern that made me feel uncomfortable. It makes me sad because you know she's had some like long issues with self confidence and you just want her to see herself as we the viewers do.

A lot of asmrtists do this actually, and I feel like they've almost learned from each other that this is a way to get attention. To the point where some seem to make up issues, or bring up something from the past out of no where if they have nothing else to say. (most are very sincere though I'm sure)

I think you make a good point about some seem to have followed others because they see the attention.

Ooh thanks for the new recommendations will check them out - I follow RachASMR but have never heard her talk about her past, what have I missed?!

She got into a (car?) accident a while back and became addicted to pain meds. She's been sober for a long while and has a great support system from what she says - doesn't take anything for pain at all, including acetominophen (paracetomol). She talked about it pretty openly in a Q&A last october/november.

Can anyone help? There used to be an ASMR channel a few years ago when it first became popular and I loved her videos but I cannot for the life of me remember the channel name! She never used to show her whole face (occasionally did) and a lot of the videos were personal shopper roleplays or makeup and updated room tours etc. A lot of the thumbnails would be just the bottom half of her face. I think she was blonde and I’m sure it was whispers something, sorry I know that’s not a lot to go on but if anyone knows who I’m talking about please let me know!

You don't mean Hailey Whispers do you? I can't remember if she did room tours but I know Hailey Whispers did similar video types and then she disappeared.

Other than being frustrated with stupid and ineffective Covid restrictions (you can buy a hammer but the throw pillow isle is too dangerous? ) all her newfound ideas seem...grifty. Like she's wearing them like a coat, rather than fully absorbing and believing in them. When she started the OF stuff I know a bunch of other ASMRtists distanced themselves from her, but some also showed support... I wonder what they'll think now.

The trend that really irks me is labelling something as unintentional ASMR when it really isn't... also I don't really understand when people call it 'intentional unintentional ASMR' surely that's just normal ASMR?!

Unintentional ASMR is still very popular and lots of channels are trying to go back to the start of things by making 2-person roleplay vids instead of 'talking-to-the-camera-as-an-elf' vids, so they put 'unintentional' in the title to draw in that crowd.

I haven't gone off any ASMRtists because i have such a small core of favourites that are deliberately repetitive, but on the other hand I haven't really found a new ASMR channel to follow in years. WhisperAudios still makes fantastic videos for YT, I can't speak against her for that. FeMale ASMR uploads so regularly I thought I'd get burnout but even now they still put me to sleep. There's also some Turkish barber blokes that are really relaxing but I can never remember their channel names offhand!

I have followed MinxLaura 123 for quite a few years, I do enjoy her ASMR she does put quite a lot of effort into her videos and collabs. Less than a week ago she posted that she was taking a break form social media so she could put her mental health first. I admired her honesty and thought how sensible she was being to prioritise her health. Sadly I've been disappointed to see her posting on multiple platforms and uploading content every day . I do question if she's addicted to the attention she gets from posting statements, because this is something she regularly does and in fact has only once taken an actual break that lasted about 5 months.

I've followed her for a few years too! I used to love her videos but I've slowly gone off them. I remember her slowly buying all of this new equipment, and then she went on that big break, and ever since she came back she only seems to use her phone, I wonder what happened... it's almost like she's lost interest, especially when she has (or had, dunno if she got rid of it all) equipment like a decent camera and mic. She tags her vids as lo-fi which I like but a few times I've watched her vids recently her audio is stronger in one ear. and slightly off-topic but her other channel makes me cringe a bit, mostly her Iceland hauls and the stuff she's bought from charity shops and is now selling on ebay.
