I like BBBY, Lonely Office and Latte mainly but I am not that into whispers (Gibi et al ) and I like a lot of office/paper pushing.

I noticed that Healing Room has been posting a lot of spa videos of different cultures and in some of her videos she acts like she is part of that culture. She has Native, Japanese, Egyptian, Chinese, etc, etc. Genuine question: is that not cultural appropriation?

It’s an unpopular opinion but I agree that some asmrtists r using different cultures/traditions for content. It’s not educational, dressing up in a poorly executed attempt in a costume, putting on an accent and recreating cultural practices for asmr is in bad taste.

Can we discuss the 'spit painting' ASMR trend that is going around at the moment? It honestly makes me sick to my stomach, and definitely isn't ASMR. It's more of a fetish than a trigger. - I've seen it recently on Jake ASMR and ASMR Shanny but I've definitely seen it a few more times than that.

For me it depends on how it's done, Angelica has done it a few times and it hasn't felt weird to me. I just looked up Jake asmr and asmr Shanny and theirs is definitely sexual& fetishy (I can't stand the fetishization of asmr so this is sooo cringy to me)

Speaking of Shanny I have followed her for a few years and really like her channel but lately I've been having a hard time because it feels like she is fetishizing some underaged anime characters like Nezuko from Demon Slayer. I've seen a few other ASMRtists doing this too and it weird. A lot of them feel like there are sexual overtones and these characters are teenage girls. Has anyone else noticed this?

Her content isn't my cup of tea but after looking through it I can see what you mean. Idk how young those characters are since I don't watch anime but since asmr is so sexualized I feel like cosplaying minors should be a no no. Just my opinion.
What I have watched though is ATLA, and she just roleplayed Katara? So whitewashing is totally OK as long is it's asmr now? Maybe I'm over-reacting since I have ptsd from the horrible casting from M. Night Shyamalan when he made a live action Avatar

Does anyone else watch Goodnight Moon because I need to ask you a question. Her two newest videos, do they seem forced/lazy to you? I love Goodnight Moon's Vampire Halloween Makeup Artist video from 3 years ago and her Forest Lodge Hotel video from a year ago is a favorite of mine, however, her two newest "remake" videos just feel off to me. I'm getting the impression that these videos are just made to slap a sponsor on them and she doesn't really care about the quality of her content anymore.

In her forest lodge video from a year ago, she's looking at the camera and interacted like there was another person in the room. The one from 12 days ago, she's looking away a lot, most likely reading a script off screen. Her Vampire Makeup Artist video from 3 years ago, she had hand drawn images to show the viewer, vampire teeth that were adhered to her teeth and she told stories/had banter with the viewer. In her newest Halloween Makeup Video she's printed images off the internet, talks about which makeup she is using likes its an advertisement and that she is "blot, blot blotting" makeup on your face. I had to click off after that blotting comment, it was that awkward for me. Her new content just feels incredibly lazy to me.

Ok I thought the same thing! I don't watch her that much anymore but when I have recently it felt... uninspired. It had me wondering if she had always been like this but I went back and looked and you are right. I do think she's burnt out from years of creating but feels pressured to keep going. Think it has happened to a lot of long time creators, the grind just gets to be too much.

I have noticed this with a few of the people I watch. I used to really like Rapunzel but it feels like she's just repeating or even using other people's ideas (I saw a video she did that obv came from ASMR Zeitgeist like she used his microphone eyes) and it feels like it's lost the heart. Goodnight Moon I think I have noticed this for a little while. Maybe people who have been at it a while are burning out?

I don't watch Rapunzel but from glancing at her channel she just looks like one of those asmrtists that find what's popular that week and recreates it. No real personal ASMR style.

I have noticed this as well as some channels going into more sexual content to probably try to compete with all the new artists. One in particular is ASMR Shanny, she’s been going more and more into fetish type of content with feet and BDSM suggestive type of stuff lol. It’s interesting to see from some of these people. Scottish Murmurs and Creative Calm, also though they’ve been down that road a bit longer but it does seem like Scottish has been pushing it further recently.

Its so so sad to me that some channels feel the need to become sexual to stand out. As a viewer it just makes me... sad for them. Unless they are into it...? Once you go down that road its hard to get out of it.
Another channel that I watch sometimes is WhisperAudios and she become more, sensual? Sexy in a bond lady way instead of trashy. That kind doesn't bother me.

Karuna satori asmr is the only one i dislike shes always in drama and if shes not involved drags herself into it like when crinkleluvin leaked OF photos of be brave be you karuna went on a 40+ min rant on IG its crazy most asmr artists r great though

I don't know if anyone's spoken about TheUKASMR on here? Her name's Chloe and I love her videos but she deleted all of them off her channel for a while and then came back and did about 3 more in early 2020, then deleted them all again. Apparently she was doxxed by an online stalker who posted a weird 'apology' video to her. It's awful what some of the ASMRtists have to deal with when all they want to do is create content. I know some of them court more attention than others but Chloe wasn't like that and actively avoided creeps. She made some great ASMR and I loved her whispering.

I like LilyWhispers and I know she's become more influencer-y lately but I do like how innovative and trend setting she's been for the genre with her whispered true crime videos, hair clipping and blink blink blink mascara application.

I'm shocked to see GwenGwiz doing actual hardcore stuff on OnlyFans. I started seeing more of that on her channel with all her lingerie hauls and when she started to appear in Savage x Fenty ads. Her face has completely changed - I came by one of her videos posted 2 days ago and she looks completely unrecognisable, about 20 years older than her age and her cosmetic surgery has made her face so bloated and immoveable, especially around her mouth and eyes. She looks a bit like a waxwork now. SabrinaVaz is going down the same route, I think she just stumbled into ASMR for fun and already had a bit of a following before that. She has an OnlyFans too now which she advertises at the start of every video. I don't think she puts that much effort into her videos, she just likes showing off but it's a shame because her voice is well suited to ASMR and she's one of the rare creators with whom I actually get tingles from her face touching.

I still love the OG, Pigsbum53 and I love how committed she's been to ASMR throughout the years. I love her whispering voice but lately she's been doing lots of Korean language videos which I think is cool. Myaling and Latte are also favourites of mine, I love the high production value of their videos, the length and how much of a special treat it feels to watch them.

I'd not heard of this, but looked it up, sorry but it's definitely not for me,jyst like mukbang, I have issues with people speaking with food in their mouth or chewing food with their mouthes open, I was taught by nuns and they were so strict with table manners lol

I loved ASMR for years but only recently discovered a channel called ASMR Twix. She mainly visits spas and gets treatments there (all in Japan). I don't speak a word of Japanese, but it's all very pretty and relaxing.
If there are similar channels, would love some recommendations. I don't like it if they over-emphasize the ASMR-y part though if that makes sense?

I like Tony Bomboni’s stuff, mainly his massage videos & do admire his dedication to put stuff out everyday, it can’t be easy. I think YT is his main/only income now- so to keep ontop of algorithm I guess it works for him. However, it does run the risk of him putting out mindless low quality repetitive content. I would prefer an asmrtist to put thought & care into content, quality over quantity.

Also- has goodnight moons babblebrook series been abandoned?

Loooooove Jocie B ASMR. I think it's mostly her energy, she feels genuine. So many artists you can tell its just a job but Jocie B's ASMR has heart.

I always had qualms with Julia about her stance on sustainability. I understand that there's no way to be completely zero waste and live completely ethically and no one is under any obligation to go vegan/plant based, but I feel like she's so touchy when it comes to her diet. She seems especially snarky towards when she's called out on the discrepancies between her supposed values and her diet. Maybe I'm just triggered but it always rubbed me the wrong way that she preaches about buying cruelty-free and sustainable options when her diet still contains meat, eggs and dairy (including her $30 yogurt or kefir or whatever it was). Again, it's a very personal decision but she lives in LA where eating plant based is easily accessible and she has the means to do so. I also wish she would stop claiming to be vegetarian when she eats fish regularly. Julia if you're reading this, fish don't grow on trees.
