I’ve just been woken (by hubby!) sleeping downstairs, much more pleasant and cooling for me and the dog! Now he’s got the dog and I’m off for a few hours in bed 🛌 lol 😆

Thank god I just found this thread.

Gave in and turned the fan back on but I feel so sick. Dreading even walking the dog which I will have to do in an hour to stop her getting too hot.

Spent the night googling coldest places in the U.K. right now.

I am with you all, went to bed at 12 and spent good 5 hours trying to fall asleep but not actually sleeping. My bedroom does cool down a bit in the evening but it’s still so stuffy and uncomfortable!

Not slept a wink all night - an utterly winning combination of the heat and taking my first steroids in nine years today. Who says I haven't got timing? 😅

Steroids are for a very intense, high dose four days then will follow the inevitable awful, awful "crash" but at least the worst of the heat should be over then.

I've given in and come downstairs, put my big fan on and going to watch Cold Justice!

I stand with every heat hating, grumpy, sleep deprived Tattler tonight ✊🏼

How is it this hot at 7am. My house is like an oven. I’m actually looking forward to being back at work today purely for the air con!

My poor toddler is absolutely dripping sweat from the second he wakes up 😒

also does this heat make anyone else feel really sick? Ive felt SO sick this past few days 🤢

Hot water bottles filled with ice cold water.
😐

Can’t recall where I learnt this but put some tap water in your hot water bottle and freeze it flat. Pop it in a clean pillow case and sleep with it - so nice. Just don’t fill it up too much as water expands as it freezes.
YES!!! This 😂
Or get the cheap dog cooling towels/mats and use them on yourself 😂 put towels in it freezer.

freeze water in any kind of bottle and keep it near as well little things make a difference.

Ok I’ve got a question… windows open or windows closed?

we’ve had all of our windows shut since Friday (apart from the bathroom one) and it’s bleeping ROASTING. Literally having all the windows/blinds/curtains closed all weekend has done absolutely nothing!

Closed during the day with the curtains drawn to keep the heat out - even better if your curtains have thermal backing. Open everything up once the temperature starts dropping in the evening. Leave some windows open overnight if it’s safe to do so.

We’ve got black out/thermal blinds and curtains on the bedroom on the south side of the house so there we have door shut, windows shut, blinds down, curtain closed during the day, and at night we sleep there so fan on, window wide open.
Downstairs and in the north facing bedroom we are working during the day, so fans in and windows open, as in a new build it’s basically just a cooker otherwise

Am I crazy or it's hotter at night than it is during the day?

I swear, I wasn't this hot during the day, but now I'm roasting like chicken legs in the oven!

I agree, I can’t even go upstairs at night at the moment! But in the day it’s fine 🤷‍♀️ sleeping downstairs for the foreseeable lol

I take a sleeping tablet and I find it helps me nod off. Cold flannel on my feet works as well.

Tonight feels a lot hotter than yesterday. I didn't make the spare bed after washing the sheets and I'm severely regretting that now with my partner radiating heat next to me!

Currently have the fan on with ice cubes under it and a wet flannel between my knees. Cursed heat! But it does comfort me that the whole country isn’t sleeping.

Our dogs and cat are currently living their best lives on their cooling mats and fan life, I however have had about 3 hours sleep each night since the weekend and tonight I’ve had enough! Sweaty under boob season be gone already....Autumn come quickly!! A towel thrown under the cold tap and wrung out and put around back of neck is actually doing a good job tonight, just praying for a better nights sleep for everyone! 😴
