Having my return back to work meeting with my line manager (after a suicide attempt) on the shop floor in front of my colleagues. I couldn't physically answer some questions because I don't want to be gossip central. The meeting ended with "you can talk to us anytime" funnily enough don't fancy it. (Tbf the manager who took the initial call hasn't seemed to have told the ins and outs of the call and put on the form "personal reasons". Im very grateful). But still pretty crappy from my line manager.

That's such a foreign (literally) concept to me. I have never been ordered to give money toward coworker gifts. The company gives each department a budget for those things.
Just on that note, there are posters on here from all over the world. Not just the UK and wherever you are.
The work watsapp group, colleagues keep posting their kids last day at school/leaving yr 6 etc. 🥱

2 days sat on a reception with a colleague who is pretty rude to most people, but really digs deep to be extra unpleasant to anyone with brown skin, for instance making particular people jump through hoops rather than using her discretion to use a short cut, pretending to not understand someone with an accent, being rather curt or blunt. I can feel her bristle as people approach the desk so I try to be sure so greet them first so they come to me for their issue. She keeps saying she's had enough and is going to leave but she has said that every shift for the last 7 years! Please piss off you horrible cow!! Manager doesn't seem interested unless there's some explicit and overt racism such as use of slurs etc
Thank god for this thread - it has been a pleasure reading these posts as sometimes its felt like I'm on Jeremy Beadle with what's happened to me

Using Teams chat to send messages when it could just be an email. It’s not even related to a Teams meeting. If I’m not doing a call, I don’t want to log on to frigging Teams.
I am going to go on Dragon's Den and suggest a glassdoor type app, but much less irritating, for previous colleagues.

I pose myself as very go lucky at work smiley (not me but it's customer services) since I was off I've had a few colleagues ask so i just said vomiting etc. The manager who took the call (I was overly honest with i panicked) hasn't seemed to tell anyone which is amazing. But he keeps giving sympathetic looks towards me. How do I go forward?

For the past few months, whenever I see 2 certain colleagues in the office, which isn't often as our paths don't cross much! They always ask if I have African heritage or any Egyptian in me etc. the latest was yesterday where I was asked, 'are you sure?'

Hold your head up high, know that you've come through something really tough and just keep it cordial with the manager who took the call.
Focus on your own wellbeing and remember it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Hopefully being back at work will be a positive thing (routine, stable pay etc) but if not you can always look around for other jobs.
Co worker keeps saying they are “riddled” with ADHD. They’ve never had a diagnosis.
One of my former employees said she needed to keep snacks on the production floor (even though no food was allowed) because she was diabetic and had to eat regularly. I told her if she could get her doctor to write her a note we could put it in her file in case anyone from management or operations questioned her. After asking her several times she finally admitted she'd never actually been diagnosed. I guess she just wanted to have an excuse to snack all day.
That’s just reminded me of my TL and her drawer. Our team was given a box of biscuits on Wednesday and she keeps them locked in her drawer and only decides when we are allowed to eat any! She basically rations them. She apparently whispered to another male on our team who is a similar age to her (who she clearly fancies and it really gives me the ick, but that’s another story), “shall we save these for Monday?” We all WFH on Monday but these 2 have been asked to go in. He said “no, that’s unfair” (as we wouldn’t all be in) and he went and bought our team more biscuits to eat yesterday since she didn’t want to open the fancy box we were given. I don’t even care about the biscuits as they’re never ones I’m particularly struck on. It’s how she decides and treats us like kids.
Any time we are given a treats, she locks them away.
She’s got issues with food, I reckon. She openly tells us she hides treats from her 13 year old son at home.
