I had this nagging feeling that he's scammed himself by her for permit to stay in exchange of financial support. I base this on Anna's multiple Freudian slips and my own experience with international work for companies and their branches abroad. In short, he could not secure an English girl before Brexit, so he had to settle for EU citizen in a form of Anna Bleh. Those a bit more familiar with the UK permit laws, please do comment. I have left some time before Brexit was even in discussion but those of my circle who work for English companies even without citizenship are safe and sound and enjoying life there.

I don't want to play devil's advocate, but I do remind you about the explosion in Beirut that took place on August 4 2020 which probably scared Joe enough to finally tie the knot (on his own rope, sadly). I can understand how people with little options operate under pressure.

In one episode of Rich kids of beverly hills the girls talked about it. They call them "groopers" or something. Dorothy (daughter of a real estate mogul) explained that those people are always trying to be around them. They are eating everything they see, pretend to have security guards, always trying to get some attention in hope that they'll be accepted.

You also see them in shows such as Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Dorit was close friend with LVP even though she is not rich herself. She pretended that she couldn’t drink champagne other than in the right glass, she hired a glam squad even though she can't afford it and worst pretends to own a luxury house even though she co-owns it with 15 other people.

These people will do anything to breath the same air as the wealthy in hope that they'll end up like them.

but what do you mean by this ‘jetset life’? Does it involve sleeping with the guys? Or how does one afford it?

I’ve always wondered what happens to the Instagram models / high class escorts once they reach a certain age. I guess it is hard for them to find a partner who’d take them seriously..so they just continue this life as long as possible, because they can’t let go of this standard of living? There are probably some success stories of course, especially if you have brains, but I personally would be the most afraid of ruining my reputation and losing any chances for a normal life and partner, even with good looks and intelligence. Or maybe I’m over dramatazing it.
