Aldi & Lidl #9

My Aldi has been a bit tit for ages. It always looks like it's been ransacked and half the middle aisle seems to be missing. Maybe it's the time I go and I need to be there at the crack of dawn for Special Buys.

Our Lidl was like this for months after the Christmas toy sale they had a few years ago, it seemed to never recover for a long which.
Back to normal now & that toy sale was not repeated, to my knowledge.

Went to my local branch of Lidl and they had all sorts of special buys. Not one of their fans were available around 4pm.

Did get the back brace, with cooling pad, and lots of little bits, including their version of the M&S dips. Chose the Loaded Caesar and Salmon and cream cheese dip. Only £1.99 each so the same as their "inspiration". Will report back but the pesto swirl from the bakery is delicious.

I'm back. Still not tried the dips but then again, no appetite.

However, I do recommend this. It's from their wine tour and is £9.99. A quick online search has it available for over £17 but price aside, it's actually a lovely wine and definitely one to go for.

Just tried one of these new protein quark bars from Lidl, very nice if you like cheesecake and fancy a little healthy ish treat. They're in with the protein desserts, 39p. Only tiny but fine for that price. There was another flavour too, think it was plain vanilla.

The yogurt fridge was almost empty this morning except for a few large pots of full large Greek style yogurt :( but plenty of fruit ones which I don't buy. At least there was plenty of fruit and veg. Looks like M&S later today for theirs which has the same contents but 40p more expensive.

Just been to Marks to get the yogurt and they have put the 500gms large free Greek up to £2.50 this week. I really must get myself sorted out to make it myself. Hope Aldi get some in sometime soon, can't be bothered to go on the bus to Lidl to get some.

:(I just ordered it on Ocado and thought that was just their price.

I like the 5% and rarely find it in-store, it's the main reason I use Ocado. I probably should make my own, never done it.

I'm definitely going to make yogurt next week.
I follow someone on Facebook who made it last week, she said it was super easy, she just added some live yoghurt to a flask to start a culture and added milk. I’ve forgotten her name but will share the link when I find her.

Found her but I can’t post the link - her page is called Thi S MumCooks - space and capitals as shown. She got her recipe from Natalie Birtwhistle.

Thank you! I'm going to do it in my Instant Pot. It has a yoghurt function. Just need to google and get extra - nice - milk.

I also used to put skimmed milk powder in it - must try and find the recipe. You will also need a thermometer.

This is a good explanation for yogurt -
this is from google. I asked - do you put milk powder in instant pot yogurt - the answer is a bit long so just ask that.
