#699 a couple of pages back I explained that the young lad told me they have 30 or 50% off tickets so they can just put them on the reduced food then get on with their shelf filling instead of working out the new price and printing off new tickets. The tills then work the discount out. I put mine together and scan them last. (don't use the belt, too many big trolleys on themYes, I was caught out with this at Aldi, it really pissed me off. In other shops you can self scan a reduced item - why not Aldi? I think it is deliberate as it benefits Aldi if the customer forgets and inadvertently pays full price

I noticed this years ago with Morrisons. I asked about it and was told it was to fit the demographic of the area. Poor area - upf food. Well heeled area - proper food.
I went to an Aldi in a posh area and the upf food wasn't so obvious.
It'd strange to me as i genuinely find the core products are pretty much the same in aldi and lidl. Definitely not noticed one having more processed good vs another having less? Some things are better in aldi, some in lidl but it's all not that much different to me.
Lidl definitely wins on the food special weeks and aldi has better other special buys imo (at least ones that are more interesting to me

)I find Lidl better for food special buys and theme weeks but Aldi better for a full shop. I don’t think I could do a full shop in Lidl and not have to go anywhere else but I definitely can and do in Aldi
I don't think lidl change things up as much as aldi. For example quiches, they always release some lovely new summer quiches in aldi but lidl it's just the same few varieties. I adore lidls theme weeks but aldi move with the seasons more imho.
I bought the Dubai muffin from Lidl. What a waste of money and calories. I should have binned it to be honest, just a cheap tasting chocolate muffin with green icing.

I went to look for the Halloween items in my local lidl just last week and all I noticed was a lonely pumpkin cushion!
There didn't seem to be anything else, just thought with it not even being Halloween yet, the items might be in stores longer?

You kidding, my aldi has some xmas gear out already, move over halloween
Aldi jump on any hype going, there so busy chasing their tail with trends that are on the shelves for a week at a time, it makes the shopping experience a pain (and I live in a deprived area, completely agree with the tidal wave of UPF gimmick tit).

On the plus side they had some amazing tomatoes the other day 65p a pack, so I bought loads and made roasted tomato sauce for pasta which I froze.
But I definitely feel my new Aldi is much less appealing.
What are the examples of the UPS stuff that are in aldi but not in lidl? My lidl literally has a whole shelf dedicated to "high protein" stuff like crisps etc
As I've been cooking from scratch I couldn't say apart from I used up a pizza from Aldi from the freezer today. Looked at the ingredients and it was UPF.
If you can't find the ingredient in your kitchen it's UPF.
Marks and Spencers is very gimmicky. People are raving about the full large greek yoghurt with vanilla. As I'm making recipes out of a book which uses full large stuff I realized I had bought this yoghurt. It's got modified maize starch in it so it's UPF. Luckily I found it too sweet.
I'm going to look in Lidl as I'm sure I got some full large Greek yoghurt in there weeks ago. I'll see if that has any unhealthy ingredients in.
I’m not raving about it. I just like it though I hadnt looked at the ingredients and would rather avoid upf.
I know what UPFs are, I'm asking what partivular items make aldi have more UPFs than lidl as imo they have mostly the same things with a few items here and there that the other shop doesn't have. Just maize starch doesn't really make something a UPF.
I'm pretty sure aldi 10% greek yoghurt is just normal plain greek yoghurt without anything crazy in it
I don't want to get into an argument with you. I was talking about my experience. I used to do a full shop at Aldi, but it's getting less and less as the quality of the food gets worse.
I'm buying more from Lidl which was my least favourite shop previously.
I want to eat real food now which means I have to make it myself.
I'm just so happy that I've found a recipe mum used to make for us as children which we adored. Turns out it was chowder.
