In my country, Lidl had kids' trainers for 5.99€ a pair on sale today, "while stocks last". You best believe I basically ran there after dropping the kids off at kindergarten 🤣 managed to get two pairs for each child so that’s 4 pairs of trainers for about 24€! 💪
Most of their shoes and clothes are either from Lidl or Aldi. It's actually quite good quality mostly. For example, I bought a winter jacket for my oldest when he was about 2yo. Not only did he wear it for a couple of years, his younger brother then wore it for another few years! And it still looks ok. I don’t remember what I paid for it but probably about 10€ so I really got my money's worth!

I bought a pack of the mystery flavour hot cross buns (the purple & blue ones) and was certain they were lemon flavoured. Checked the ingredient list, and I think every fruit except lemons are on there 😅

They've got apple purée, apple juice, strawberry concentrate, mango purée, pineapple juice, passion fruit juice, blueberry concentrate & pumpkin concentrate. All I could taste was artificial lemon 🤣

I thought they tasted jammy. There was something citrusy in there though.

I wish they'd done children's clothes when my kids were small, they do some really lovely stuff!

I thought they tasted jammy. There was something citrusy in there though.
I ended up asking chatGPT, and they said this:

"Passion fruit juice – Naturally tart and tangy, often mistaken for citrus.
Pineapple juice – Has a sharp acidity that can mimic a lemony zing.
Mango purée – When mixed with acidic fruits, it can take on a slightly tangy note.
Apple juice & purée – Depending on the variety, some apples have a bright, tart taste.
Blueberry concentrate – Some blueberry varieties have a sharp acidity that might contribute.

It’s possible that the mix of passion fruit, pineapple, and apple is creating a citrus-like illusion. Either that, or your taste buds have just decided to gaslight you today. 😂"

So maybe I'm not insane 😅 It might just be the acidity and my brain associating that with lemons? I'm interested to try them again now that I know the ingredients and see if I think it tastes different. I asked Mr Duck at the time what he thought it tasted like and he just said "fruit". Very descriptive man :ROFLMAO:

Just had an Instagram ad to say the Dubai chocolate bar will be in stores from this Saturday 26th, £3.99. Def will pick some up to try if I see it!

I had it as Saturday the 29th and maximum 2 per customer.
Wonder how many bars will be in-store and if you will have to ask for it.
I recall in past decades having to take a bodyguard with me to ensure I exited the store with some Specialbuys.
Hopefully shoppers will be able to control themselves and avoid attacking customers for the chocolate. 🙄😬

I feel like the only person to have never tried Dubai Chocolate.
Nor me and I don’t really care. Dubai anything doesn’t scream aspirational to me. I like pistachio but the chocolate bars I’ve seen appear to have cheap milk choc around the pistachio bit which looks disgusting to me.

I absolutely love anything pistachio, and did long before it became popular (cheers M&S), but the whole "Dubai" thing really puts me off.

Pistachio I'm IN
Dubai in OUT

Todays breakfast was Lidl St Clement hxb which I quite liked.
The banoffe hxb from Aldi were yuk!

Lemon deluxe dessert in Lidl is pleasant on the tongue but disappointing in the flavour stakes. Hit of lemon then nothing but nice textures of a sponge & light mousse sensation.
Also the topping design is in 6 sq section portions so you don't scoff it all at once!

Our local Turkish supermarket sells Dubai chocolate bars for €4 so I got one out of curiosity. Wasn't impressed tbh.

What are people’s thoughts on the Aldi dupes for Sol de Janeiro body spray? I can’t remember if it’s been discussed already sorry. I grabbed number 32 pistachio and salted caramel this morning and it does smell quite nice, especially if you like a sweet scent. I didn’t want to spray it whilst in the shop so it was a gamble but I’m happy at only £3
Yeah, i like it. I got a bottle as a gift and there isn't much difference, for me, between the Sol de Janiero, and its much cheaper!

Does anyone know if Lidl are doing their hot cross buns loaves of bread this year? They were truly wondrous last year!

A genuinely meant thank you for typing that out. Four allergy ingredients in it means I shan't be able to try them and now you've said they're citrusy, I won't have fomo either.

I’m not a big Richard Marley fan but he tried the Dubai chocolate on GMB yesterday his verdict was yeah it’s ok.
