Chad gave a one hour interview that was uploaded to a YouTube channel yesterday. He basically said that the two youngest and the two middle kids are back living with Kevin and that they all as a family gather together every Sunday for dinner.

He also said he forgives his mum, wants her to go on and live her best life with new relationships where she can trust people and they can trust her, but that for now, he won’t be having a relationship with her. If he ever does it will be waaaaay down the road.

He said he had one phone call with her a week after she was arrested and it was clear she still believed she did nothing wrong. He gave her lots of home truths in that call and then a week later they had a 5 minute call where he didn’t get a word in because she balled her eyes out the whole time. She told him he was right and she was wrong and that nobody had ever spoken to her and challenged/questioned her like that before. He believed she was being genuine and so forgives her.

He also said that not long before the arrest all the money he’d earned from the Eight Passengers channel had been wiped clean out of his bank account and to this day he’s not seen a penny of it.

He said he has a girlfriend and is looking forward to being a dad and that his girlfriend has said the minute they have a child he has to come completely off of social media, to which he agreed.

He sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders - in spite of his parents, not because of them.

Yes, he came across as polite, grounded and remarkably settled in his new life. Regarding in spite of, he actually said he is glad he went through what he did because it’s made him a stronger person to handle life. He came across as a wise, kind and thoughtful young man.

I saw the interview as well @Scar2016. I think he is in denial about how his youngest two siblings were almost un-alived by his mother. I also wonder how his youngest siblings will feel, as they get older, about their older brother being grateful for all he went through and thinking that his mother's treatment of him made him a better person. From what I have read, neither Chad or Kevin have looked at the pictures of the torture Ruby inflicted on the children. Chad gets a pass because he is still young, but Kevin has a responsibility to look, and look hard, at those pictures. Too difficult for him to process? Tough mit. Would the pictures break through his denial? GOOD. Both R and E will never have the option of choosing not to remember or of not remembering the abuse by lookig at their permanent scars, especially R.

Yes, I agree that Chad came through as a wise, kind and thoughtful young man. However, I worry about him after he has his own children and paternal instinct kicks in. That's when the anger will - or should - kick in. I also think that as time goes by this image of the perfect, Mormon family reunited and them all having cozy Sunday dinners together will rapidly disintegrate. Trauma bonding is hard to break but never ends well.

Does anyone have any info on Ruby's parents, the Griffiths? Two of their grandchildren almost died by their daughter's hand and they leave the country to go back on their mission after the trial is over? How about staying around to nurture and take care of their grandchildren? I remember seeing the grandmother in one episode where R was made to sleep on the bathroom floor alone because he was so sick that he was vomiting all night. The grandmother was laughing in a "How cute" laugh. At the time I thought: "How inappropriate."

Sorry for the long post. I prefer you folks on the tattle forum vs Reddit so I don't post over there.

An eloquent and succinct synopsis of what may very well unravel down the years to come. I have always wholeheartedly agreed that Kevin has been complicit in the abuse of his children and long before Hildebrandt came along. He’s damn bloody lucky he’s not inside a jail cell himself, because imo he should be. He’s also guilty of parental neglect and abandonment and I definitely feel uncomfortable that he’s managed to somehow regain/maintain a relationship with Chad. Has it ever been confirmed that Levin has custody of the three youngest because, oh man…

Regarding the Griffiths grandparents, I’ve watched camcorder videos that their son Beau uploaded from the 1980’s when he himself had a YouTube channel. I think they lived in a trailer at one point and the husband was throwing Ruby around as a baby that, even at the time in culture, seemed overly aggressive. But they were both laughing as grandma Griffiths filmed.

I think there’s always been abuse of some kind in that family, whether it be food restrictions, kids having to share winter coats (Bonnie, on of their other daughters, talked about this), blanket training, emotionally controlling parents, lack of bodily autonomy etc. it wouldn’t surprise me if there were also sexual abuse due to the lack of boundaries where the children are only seen as mere extensions of their parents and not humans in their own right.

So I just realized something. At Ruby's academy award worthy speech thanking everyone who helped R and E, she never once thanked the neighbor who called 911!!!!!!!

In her heart, I believe she hates him. I really do.
