I've just finished the book about Mussolini - M: Son of the Century, and I was really struck by this speech he gave in 1924, it's so timely for the moment:

This relentless pace has to let up at some point, surely? It's got to the point where I'm trying to figure out UK/US time differences to work out if its worthwhile checking the news to see if there's been a new outburst.
To be honest, I'm surprised the whole sorry spectacle isn't sponsored. Not like Trump to miss out on an opportunity like that.

Does anyone else wonder what's going on behind the scenes? I mean, with the CIA and all that - those organisations which have, for decades, made America into the 'superpower' it is - watching it all being thrown away?
There will be a lot going on behind the scenes, intelligence service-wise, in terms of monitoring the MAGA Movement and not just in the US.

Personally, I would say Putin, who has ordered or approved countless deaths, including those on MH17 back in 2014, and Mohammed bin Salman, who also has a high body count, including arranging for the journalist Jamal Khashoggi to be killed and hacked into pieces, fit the mould more. He is fine with them being involved with talks, but a president protecting his country is the bad guy? I'm begging all his supporters who think he is the 'smartest guy not just in the room but out of all the world leaders and politicians' to explain to me how he has worked this out because if it was anyone else...they would be first in line to call them out.

When she first started coming out with all guff about blaming everyone but herself for what happened, a few friends and I joked about a theory that the Daily Star sent her the lettuce as a going-away present, and she stuffed it in the back of the fridge. It was a laugh at the time that came from a few of us drinking and making up the weirdest scenarios to explain her theories, but I swear the more sewage that comes out of her gob, the more I start to believe it's actually possible something like that actually happened.
