Jose Barco, a decorated U.S. Army veteran once based out of Fort Carson who served 2 tours in Iraq, was taken into custody last month by ICE because his citizenship papers, which were supposed to be processed while he was in the Army, were lost. Read his story...

Like everyone else he deals with, he doesn't give a tit about veterans unless they can help him. There have been lots of stories of him doing crappy stuff over the years, including wanting disabled soldiers to be kept out of parades, saying soldiers who died were losers, and laughing at John McCain for being a POW. He even refused to go to the cemetery on the anniversary of Armistice Day when in France because he was scared the rain would get the gerbil constantly attached to his head wet.

It would be disgusting if anyone did it, but the fact it's coming from someone who was such a coward he lied about bone spurs to get out of serving...

I see that a large number of farmers, a demographic that largely supported Trump, are being adversely affected by the cut in USAID. In 2021 USAID bought over $2 billion of food from US farmers and now they are only just realising that? They didn’t know who they were selling to?

Seriously, what were these people thinking? It must be the height of utter abject stupidity to believe that a group of billionaires are going to be working for the interests of working people, the very people they have exploited in order to achieve that billionaire status.

My nephews and their partners, who all work for the federal government, and have done for many years following stints in the military on active service, have all had the email and are worried for their futures. (They all know people who voted for trump who are now mighty pissed off that they can’t work from home anymore.)

I did wonder about this - is it purchased under the name of USAID or via some other agency or even the individual states, depending on where/how they are allowed to operated?

... now mighty pissed off that they can’t work from home anymore.

They aren't alone, I understand there's not enough desks or even buildings for everybody to they take turns at the computer (are we back in the 80s/90s now), various departments now have teams split over multiple premises...

In defence of the farmers who one can I agree argue perhaps should have checked, the main tit show is being done by so-called geniuses whose method of adjusting a mass of Christmas lights is to cut random loops and then act all surprised when the wrong bit stops working.

I honestly think they didn’t link their own reliance on USAID with the promise to cut it to the bone. I think they genuinely believed that the cuts would hit foreign countries ( in a kind of yay great, no more clean water, food and vaccines for brown people way ) and gave no thought whatsoever to the idea that it would end up biting them on the a.
You could almost feel a bit sorry for them. ALMOST.

I think it was purchased via the department of agriculture, but from what I can gather farmers knew it was going on Aid and relied on that to supplement their income. Rubio is supposed to have signed a waiver for this in addition to pharmaceutical aid and others they deem essential, but it seems that, like everything else, they threw the babies out with the bath water and are now scrabbling to try and save them.
