In terms of appearance yes (it's probably whey the Democrats wanted him to the nominee so badly) he just looked more conservative and to be fair had a history of being more of the right of the party however he ran a more left leaning campaign than Obama and Hillary Clinton adopting a significant number of Bernie Sanders policies and messaging and even in office his domestic agenda was more socially progressive or 'woke'. Of course he kinda ruined his progressive credentials with his unwavering support of Israel's actions in Gaza.

Then you have Harris who never big deal about about being a woman, never liked mentioning race or LGBT issues, leaned more to the right on both policing and immigration and yet was still perceived as woke by her opponents. Given that the reason she lost was far less Democrat voters turning up to vote allowing Trump (who got nearly the same votes than he got in 2020 when he lost) sneak in. We'll never know but I wonder what would have happened if she hadn't caved and took a harsher line on Israel and had more economically and socially progressive (ie: woke) policies. Could she have gotten vote numbers similar to Biden's? Given how close a lot of the swing states were it's compelling to think about.
Good points, yes. Perception is everything.

Was it here I heard that Trump stands to make a personal fortune of 8 billion through cronyism, corruption, back-handers, and just your ordinary old-fashioned criminality? It's bleeping disgusting to even think about.

I'll never bleeping understand people who are driven by wealth and materialism. I get that it's a natural impulse to hoard money and power over others (I guess), but philosophically I'll just never bleeping understand it. A simple, pure life is so much better. Don't laugh as I sit here in the dark shivering ... No, really. It IS. Mo' Money, Mo' Problems. 😬 🍷

What? You're a continual mouth of sharing misinformation on this thread though and never have a source.
So similar to trump saying stuff that has no basis in reality.

The US elections results are linked to a trend happening in all developed countries - that doesn't so much linked to the right vs the left but a general dissatisfaction towards governments. The Tories got wiped out in the UK for instance.

As for Musk he has an incredible leverage inside Trump's close circle. The idea that the richest man of the world will have the ear of Trump while having this kind of position is not that reassuring.

I wonder if the Dems are going to learn from this whole experience because they can’t use the same methods next time.

I love how you didn’t get a response to this very reasonable question.

I hope certain posters on here aren’t women, but I suspect they are. Sigh.
As I said previously in response to the op, it's likely due to the fact he is a trad Catholic. They tend to have traditional views in regards to gender roles.

True, but it’s possible they won’t be friends for long since Trump has an incredibly fragile ego. The minute he thinks that someone in his administration is stepping on his toes or getting above themselves, he flips his lid and fires them, telling them they got above themself. This is what people who worked with him in the last one say. Apparently, everyone who surrounds him walks on egg shells. If something has to be presented to him in writing, it better have a large picture of him on the front of it 🤣 it’s hilarious but at the same time incredibly concerning.

I note that Ivanka isn’t keen to serve in the administration this time(!)

Another lovely liberal in action.

If only a few more would follow suit 🤣🤭
That vile FEMA woman has been fired. Quite rightly.

Secondary source for those who like to pretend it’s untrue because it’s in the Mail.

For once I agree with a government department, “reprehensible” is an apt word. How deep and ingrained must your hatred be to ignore people in need in a natural disaster area? When it was your literal bleeping job to help them.

At this point Trump Derangement Syndrome needs to be investigated as a mental illness. It’s causing people to lose their basic humanity.

Up there with the Republican police chief who said his officers wouldn't aid or assist people who had Democrat signs or who he knew to support Democrats.

Both should be removed from any sort of public assistance positions
“Without fear or favour” is essential for a very good reason.

In my life experience the only thing binary about the human race is that people, regardless of politics, race, religion, social status, ethnicity, etc always fall into one of two categories; massive twit or not a massive twit. There are both of these on both of the political divides. Sadly, history has shown us that when it comes to extremes on either political side, the massive mats seem to rise to the top unfortunately.

I find that my level of twatiness fluctuates in direct proportion to the twatiness of the person I'm currently engaging with.

You give twit you get twit.....

Oh yeah, I think most people can be twit fluid if needed but I still maintain that massive twit/ non massive twit is binary in that some people are incapable of changing their level of twattishness regardless of the situation they find themselves in 😁😊

Edited to add: and if you acknowledge that you can be a twit, that kind of shows you aren’t a massive one in my books. Massive mats rarely have that level of self awareness x

Politics is about one thing: WINNING.

If you need to lie, so be it. I think the Labour government lied, but they won. Hopefully they will do something good. I'm not covinced the Trump regime will do much good. It is what it is.

Record number of Americans researching how to leave the US, after Trump’s win. American citizens still have to pay taxes to the US if they live and work in another country. US citizenship is not to be taken lightly.

Agree, this is the issue the world over right now. A trend of voting for populist figures. When hoi polloi discover that they have been duped and lied to, they continue not to care. See Brexit 🫣
