Haha I used to stay on it and turn my monitor off so school couldn't phone up if I'd been bad my mum didn't have a clue about computers back then

that reminds me.... when there were multiple phones around the house but only one line... anyone could pick up the phone and listen in to your conversation

Yeah I remember this.
One thing I do think is better these days is there’s less pressure for teens to lose their virginity and get with people if they don’t want to. I was forever being called frigid for being a virgin at 15 it was so wrong and wouldn’t happen these days in the teen peer group as individual choices are more valued

The guy watching porn at my college was caught out because we all had to log in to an account with our username and password to use the Internet

No one ever said anything as nefarious to me in Habbo as FB, it was difficult for them to do as if you typed any kind of sexual word or swear word it was automatically replaced with "bobba"

Just watching a programme and someone had a contact on their phone "John Mob" remember when you would have to that and also have "John Home" I even had my own house number saved when I lived with my parents still , it's not like I didn't know it off by heart

I remember being in college and going on chat rooms on the computers, ended up talking to some boys from miles and miles away and they actually drove up to see me and my friends one day. Can’t believe how fucking stupid we were Come to think of it, the amount of times I found myself in cars with boys I’d known for less than five minutes, I’m surprised I’m still alive. What an idiot I was

I'm glad you're still here and without a bad experience (I hope!). It just shows how innocent it all was broadly at first. I'm sure even back then some nasty stuff was going on, but for most of us, it was a playground that was just exciting to explore.

I had to ask someone recently what Woolworths actually sold. All their stores were massive and they folded when I was in my 20s so I spent loads of time in them but I’ve no memory of what they sold apart from videos / DVDS and sweets. I’ve still no idea.

They were a kids paradise! Some of my memories:

The whole back wall was floor to ceiling of every bored game you could imagine! Then rows of toys, from Barbie's, Puppy in my pockets, Polly pockets, baby all gone dolls, sea monkeys - basically all the toys you saw advertised between citv!
Then there was the mysterious 99p aisle (a load of plastic tat) which you could get lucky with on occasion!
Lots of stationery, secret diaries, 'forever friends' themed pencil cases ect. You'd be able to pick up your first 'grown up' berol pen for school here, then a fountain pen and cartridges for when you got to secondary school!
Flicking through the posters that you had no intention of buying, but would choose your favourite (usually a dolphin or Winnie the pooh graphic!)
Later on they were the go-to place for Pokémon cards and ridiculously overpriced facias for your Nokia 3310!

Actually a lot of that was 90s nostalgia lol, but Woolworths will always have a special place in my heart!.

so many 00’s memories! Shopping at Jane Norman, HMV to buy posters and listen to the cd station of new releases, using a little brown bag from bloomingdales for my lunch, skiving school to see my boyfriend who was a manager at River Island.

A good few concerning ones involving the internet though, going on chat rooms, face party, live journal and positive a lot of the people I was giving my information to weren’t a teenage now I think of it. I actually met someone who ended up being my boyfriend but I was 16 and he was 21 which seems awful now. I really put myself in dangerous situations a lot of times especially as back in early 00s, if middle aged bouncers liked the look of you, they’d let you into clubs. My parents were very relaxed and I took advantage of their trust.
