As somebody who's been through it, it feels really icky on the victim to be publishing and encouraging gossip about who their rapist could be.

“taken away” is slightly harsh wording! the honest answer is that she/her family/production whoever probably had no idea how exactly she would cope with how overwhelming an actual live show would be and were adapting on the job. they know now, and i imagine we’ll see her and vito taking way more breaks in future.
I think calling looking after someone with an intellectual disability "PC Bullshit" is slightly more than harsh wording tbh.

On Layton, I've noticed he is everybody's biggest cheerleader and always standing and cuddling with different people in the Clauditorium. He seems a lovely guy who gets on with everyone and is happy to lift them all up.

Just wading in here as someone who works with adults with learning disabilities

I think Ellie did remarkably well yesterday to manage that environment for such a long time, especially as people with down syndrome often will have sensory processing challenges. That environment would be a sensory overload for a lot of people, let alone someone with down syndrome

I think she will be able to handle criticism from the judges. I think the issue will come when the judges comments do not line up with the scores e.g. Shirley telling her she's fabulous and then scoring her a 4. We tend to find it confusing when a judge has no criticism for a contestant yet scores them low, so I can't imagine how confusing it may be for Ellie. The best thing that the judges can do for her is to be honest about where she is, but frame it constructively.

I also think there's a slight overreaction to how Ellie will manage going forward. Yesterday was clearly a trial run, and now I'm sure the team around her will be better equipped to support her during the live shows. The main thing that her team around her should be working with her on is self-advocacy so that she can be more aware of her limits and thus be supported accordingly, as well as helping her with emotional regulation techniques and managing expectations and help her to understand the competition aspects of the show

Anton basically telling Pete it was his last night was another classically awkward moment from the BBC, if nothing else that should ensure we don't have to suffer him as a judge next year
Every dance, Anton makes sure to get in a comment about how Pete can’t dance. Even during his CC, which was beautiful, when he was visibly on the brink of breaking down on live TV, Anton made sure to state “it was a shame about the dancing.” And Jowita was visibly annoyed last night when Anton dismissed Pete’s footwork with her talking about how she was going to watch it back because she knew every toe and heel was correct.

Anton was useless with every partner he had that didn’t display a modicum of dance talent. He would immediately resort to comedy and tricks because he never believed they could learn to dance so why bother trying? It’s why he never misses a chance to bring them up just to laugh at them now he’s got a seat on the judging panel. It’s that same sneering attitude he shows in his feedback to Pete because he saw every contestant he had like that as a joke and expects others to do the same. Instead, Jowita takes Pete seriously (cha cha cha aside). I liked him as a judge in his first series but I find him irritating and patronising now. However, I have no doubt we’re stuck with him for the next few years at least. It’s his dream role and the general viewers love him.

Mum informs me she voted "for Johannes" because "he's such a good dancer" and I'm not sure she's quite grasping the concept of this show 😄

I would break my heart if my husband wrote this, what a twat! I’m getting my body language hat ready for ITT 🕵🏻

I know I’m quite old and clueless in social media terms, but why the fuck does someone’s wife need to comment on their Instagram post to tell them that they’re proud of them? Just walk into the kitchen and say it to their face, no need for publicly declared, attention-seeking, performative spousal support. 🙄

New thread 💃

In the spirit of the conclusion of the last thread I will say that it's just a show and whoever gets the most votes is a fair winner and there's no point in fighting about it....

However, anyone who compares lovely George to Stacey 'Kevin Clifton Shagger' Dooley or Ore 'Proof It Doesn't Make You Go Blind' Oduba can meet me in the car park.

Carry on
