Zara seems to like portraying herself as a victim. I haven't watched her in anything else but Strictly. However, I read that she has made 3 documentaries and in all of them she seemed to be portraying herself as a potential victim.
Oh do fuck off

1) she didn’t make the complaint despite the fact she had every fucking right to, she said NOTHING, how exactly can someone
make themselves a victim in that scenario?
2) he repeatedly hit, kicked and spat at her and shouted at her so aggressively she had to
lock herself in the toilets and was consistently seen crying, she still said NOTHING

She isn’t making herself a victim she IS a victim

Any hot goss from the show??
I’m putting it behind a spoiler just because of a mention of a couple of people who are through but basically everyone’s really nice and no wonder they go on about Strictly being a family because that was the sense you got the whole time.

Based on audience support, Chris or Sarah is winning this. We were asked to cheer for our favourites while waiting to go into the studio and the difference between them and everyone else was noticeable. Also the guy forgot to ask about JB which says it all about his chances.

Tess’s prompter says “Pete and Y’vita” whereas Claudia’s says “Pete and Jowita” which made me laugh. Phonetic spelling is clearly necessary for Tess.

On that note, I know we all make fun of Tess’s presenting but I was surprised at how much time she spends in the results show going over the script when she’s been doing this for years and could get away with not prepping heavily. She was sat behind me and, for most of the taping, she was highlighting and reading through the script and her cue cards until she was needed to film. Presenting doesn’t come naturally to her but I appreciated seeing a glimpse of how much effort she puts in behind the scenes.

Kai and Nadiya made a noticeable effort to never be stood near each other in the Clauditorium when they were watching each dance. I didn’t spot them even vaguely near other once.

Vito, Johannes and Nikita are all as lovely as you’d hope. The first two were stood near us waiting for the results and were so lovely at interacting with us all as we sent them good luck thumbs ups. And I got to walk past Nikita and quickly chat to him backstage. He’s even more handsome in real life and just as nice.

Vernon Kay is bloody lovely too. He was by far the most enthusiastic celebrity there. He was the first to cheer for everyone and call out at the judges if he felt they were being too mean. I thought he might not be that interested in the show but he was so into it! He knew so many of the production staff by name and lots of them came over to see him either on the floor or backstage. Plus, when Tess rehearsed her first link, he cheered so loudly for her which was very sweet.

Speaking of supportive partners, Joe Sugg was the first person on their feet at the end of Chris and Dianne’s dance which was also very sweet. And Dianne had such good awareness of Chris throughout the whole show. They have a production assistant with them for moving around the studio but Dianne always made sure to be with Chris guiding him even when she was changing position for watching the next dance. You could see how much trust is there and they’re a solid partnership already.

(Her and Chris’s new goal is to stay in the competition until her parents come over because Mark is more excited about seeing Chris dance than Dianne. I could almost hear this thread rolling its eyes at the mention of Dianne’s parents but we’ll see if it makes it to air tonight.)

Kai, Johannes and Gorka were the threes pros who seemed to spend the most time watching each dance and shouting support down to the couples when they were waiting to start but so many of them made the effort to do that. Again, I know we make fun on the ‘Strictly is a family’ thing but it’s no wonder they feel like that so quickly because that is the vibe. The pros were loudly rooting for one another and Sarah, Sam and Pete were the celebs I spotted routinely doing the same.

Claudia is even funnier and more chaotic in real life. Her jumpsuit and heels were uncomfortable from rehearsal and she had no qualms in letting us know that. She’s a terrific presenter. I also got to spot her vaping as she was scrolling Instagram and eating M&S chocolate buttons backstage which was fun.

I don’t know how much of it will get cut from tonight’s show but Nikita totally messed up his bit and Aljaz was crying with laughter by the end. He explained they’re dancing to Hips Don’t Lie next week and then sang a totally different Shakira song instead. Nobody clocked it until the end of the segment when they had to refilm. It was then discovered that Nikita has no idea what the song actually sounds like as he was put on the spot and sang the most tuneless rendition of Hips Don’t Lie I’ve ever heard.

There were no partnerships that clearly weren’t getting along but the level of support that was given/needed while waiting to dance definitely varied. Whereas the likes of Punam and Gorka, Tasha and Aljaz, Montell and Johannes, and Sarah and Vito spent time talking and preparing together, others like Shayne and and Nancy and Toyah and Neil were more of the high five and prepare in position separately sort. I guess it’s partly personal preference but there were certainly some partnerships that felt far more like partnerships already.

The production crew are amazing. They’re so slick at changing the sets and I was mesmerised watching them build each one in the few minutes they had to do it.

It was such a fun night and they’ve got me drinking the ‘Strictly is a family’ kool-aid now 😂

After watching Rose and Gio, my dad turned to me and said “this is the representation we as deaf people need. Just because we’re deaf, doesn’t mean we can’t achieve” 😭

I not normally affected by the Couple's Choice story but a friend of mine got diagnosed only a couple of days after Annabel's husband and she's not here anymore either so I'm a weeping mess and the dance hasn't even started yet.

I was lucky to actually attend tonight's show thanks to my daughter being friends with someone on the production and have only just got back. It was incredible but a few things that stood out:

  1. The dance floor is a lot smaller than it looks on TV! It looks massive on screen but in the flesh it's about the size of 1.5 tennis courts!
  2. I bumped into Tom Hiddleston (yummy) and Debbie McGee (lovely!)
  3. I'd obviously been reading the news about Nigel in advance, but because we had to surrender our phones at the entrance and so a lot of people didn't know about it. When it was announced by Claudia in the warm up there was genuine gasps from the audience.
  4. Layton's dance was AMAZING.
  5. Between the recordings for the results show, the pro dancers were all on the dance floor getting ready and then had a little song and dance with the warm up guy. Carlos sang Adele (not very good but had lots of enthusiasm), Graz sang an Italian song (I can't remember which one as I was drooling from looking at him) but Kai sang Elvis' In the Ghetto and had an amazing voice!
  6. Claudia is as mad as a box of frogs but bloody amazing!
  7. The whole production was just really interesting to see, how each part fits together and the amount of people working to make sure it all flows smoothly

So the result we all expected but it was still a very entertaining final and lovely way to spend a winters Saturday evening in the house.

JB and Lauren have done my favourite routines this series (and I can’t wait to see JB on the tour), but I can totally understand the sentiment of Chris winning. I’ve got a disabled child, and without going into specifics, you spend your life having to work round the things they can’t do. You’re having to live life in a different lane from other families. Then there are times they completely amaze you and do something you never expected possible. I can’t put into words what that feels like. That’s why Chris winning will matter to so many people. No he wasn’t the “best dancer”, what he’s done is way beyond that and I think he deserves every bit of this win.

I'm sure its all been said before but Amanda only met Jonathan in 2021 and within weeks they were engaged then he has this accident that sees him paralysed. Its all very new. I reckon she's got all carried away with her feelings etc and he's seeing her drooling all over Giovanni. Que unhappy situation at home. Just my take on it. Its odd no reason has been given. So I think it's something very personal.
Yes there could be something in this.
Sophie Ellis Bextor has said how Strictly affected her marriage. Her husband sulked massively, obsessively questioned her when she got home and would text her constantly and if she didn't reply immediately would 'spiral'. In the end he had to have counselling.
And she was with BRENDAN 😂

She's done herself no favours. Show some class and be silent when something is ongoing. She's an attention seeker and her timing is because she's trying to get in there first with Gio apparently going to be cleared possibly this week.

Oh piss off. She has every right to tell her story and she's done it with much more class and decency than Gio has with his bitchy comments at his shows
