The thing about pronouns is that EVERYONE refers to other people as him/he/she/her based on what people look like. It’s a natural way to speak to/about people. Yet when you get someone who is gender neutral, you’re expected the suddenly be aware of using that instinctive language and correct yourself before you’ve even spoke. It’s a lot to expect from people (plus it can be confusing using the term they/them for a singular person). Then if you use the incorrect term you’re attacked and expected to apologise? Like wtf? Just move on and try and remember next time. That’s not bullying/hateful speech it’s just normal use of language. I think it’s actually made more of a big deal by apologising every time you get it wrong. And that’s why people check out from it and say they don’t believe in it. Because why should we all be expected to apologise for just using everyday language? I’d rather not engage with it so Im therefore not likely to make the “mistake” if that makes sense.

Imagine this, you’re in a restaurant and a man at the next table asks for a menu. The waiter says “of course sir let me just get that for you”. And the man then goes on to explain they’re actually gender neutral and don’t answer to the term “sir”. What is that waiter supposed to do? Apologise? For just being polite? No fuck that. And that’s why people can’t be doing with it all.

I teach my children that life is unfair sometimes and that we can’t always get what we want, and that sometimes people will have opposing views to theirs. I think gender neutral people need to realise that they can identify as a fucking pigeon if they want but they can’t expect everyone in the world to understand that or be on board with it (absolutely not condoning violence though, I’m just talking about using normal language such as “fisherman” instead of fisher-them 🙄🙄).

Re: the pics of him in the pants and surgical gown in the street. He appears to be with his friends (who are of course, dressed normally). I can't believe that none of them have said "mate, you look like an absolute weirdo". I know they've probably told him that he "slays", but they surely can't believe that. They are the sort of people who will probably drop him like a stone when he becomes irrelevant or has a breakdown, whichever happens first.

Edit oops just realised I misgendered him. If you're offended, just change it in your head when you read it 😇

I don't feel anyone would have an issue with that as you're trying, as you say. I think the problem is when people get the pronouns wrong thinking it's funny, as have quite a few on here and social media over the last few days re Sam. That's quite pathetic.

And re the whole non-binary thing - there are many different ways to be non-binary. For example, I'm male but don't identify with many "traditional" male things - i.e. I bloody hate football. I guess that would make me a "brainwashed loon" to some...
That’s just stereotyping. I’m a woman and I love football, which isn’t a typical female thing. That doesn’t make me non-binary, it just means I love football.

I’m a Sam fan but not completely a fan of their new look but I do think it’s highlights how pathetic people become over how someone else chooses to live their life

nothing they’re doing hasn’t not been seen/done before but people really do take offense and have deep disgust for something that literally does not impact them in the slightest. I don’t think people realise how confined to being “normal” they are that they can’t fathom the idea that some people don’t give af about being liked, or looking “good” or fitting in. Sam had an incredible career wearing suits, singing heartbreak ballads and being well liked, I don’t think anyone wakes up wanting the entire world to call them names and laugh at them. In an interview they explained where their were at in life and what the song unholy was about and it’s based on a real experience… are we telling people they can only create art about their life if it fits into what people are comfortable with?

I think you can totally dislike what sams doing, but just switch the channel or block them and keep it stepping or go look in the mirror and unpack why it actually makes you so mad. I see things I dislike everyday, but someone out there likes it and it’s not harming anyone so who tf cares

and I personally think the pronoun shit is nonsense but again if someone has asked to be called that, I’ll try my best to remember, again it’s not harming anyone and people have a right to be referred to however they like
I get your point, but as a mother of 2 young boys, I worry about the crap they are going to see before they are adults. I would like my kids to be well adjusted, respectful of women, not perverts etc. The stats regarding children being subjected to porn are shocking and definitely concerning. I certainly didn't see any porn videos until I was an adult. Whilst not porn exactly, his most recent video isn't far from it. Fetishes belong behind closed doors, thank you please.

On top of that, gender ideology is dangerous. It has become a fad, but one that could potentially physically and mentally harm our kids and is slowly affecting womens' rights, sport, rights, awards etc etc. Regardless of all that, I'm not sure I buy it from Sam anyway. I can't help but feel this gender bollocks is a result of the backlash against him crying in his mansion over lockdown. Distraction tactic.

I don’t. He’s a man, can call himself what he likes but I don’t have to play along.
Agree. I peaked a few months ago and now I’m pretty TERFy. I don’t wish Sam ill will but he’s a dude and nothing will change that.

head to the Gender Discussion thread Anyone who is curious
---

Non binary is gender rather than sexual preference. So Sam can choose to be an “apache helicopter” if they choose & still fancy blokes.

I worked with a lady that had transitioned, and stayed married to her husband - people lost their minds. X
Does that make her husband gay though? Never mind her.

the existence of gay and bisexual people just disproves the whole trans nonsense imho.

We have all said that outwardly gay, flamboyant men are not repulsive for that reason alone, I myself adore George, Freddie, Adam Lambert and I’ve hung out with drag queens and they are fabulous, stylish.

Sam just looks like a dogs dinner, it reminds me of the styling in zoolander, hilariously terrible. It’s not sexy, he has ONE DANCE MOVE ROUTINE he uses for everything (nip rub, flap the hands around, shuffle feet in tiny steps, fling leg, raise eyebrow, pout) like a 12 year old girl

that ridiculous shuffling feet thing he does make my teeth itch!

I think Sam is incredibly fatist himself. Why is sam only including hot fit dancers to get their ass's out in videos? Where's the obses and ugly people? Talk about being unrepresentative.

I can't stand them. They seem to be constantly whining about something. The lockdown crying photos and then Sam saying they were just a joke was pathetic.

I think Madonna is who they want to be compared to as they seemingly cover Human Nature at the concert and I wonder if the pic of them in the thong, fishnets, and boots is what they wear when they sing it?

They do seem to be getting likened to her a lot lately and it really doesn't help their case. When she used to do all the Sex stuff, raunchy performances, and wearing next to nothing...she never seemed to be reluctant or embarrassed about doing it and owned it regardless of what anyone thought. With Sam, it seems the opposite...like someone stepping into their big brother/sister's heels and trying to be like them and it not working. Anytime they do something....being near-naked on stage, wearing dresses in pics, the faux golden showers in the video, playing with Satanism....it's been done much better before and in a time when it was a big deal to do stuff like that as you could lose your career over it. Someone else in the thread talked about them wanting to show us their arsehole and I honestly think at some point a sex tape might pop up and rather than pretend it was leaked like normal, they will proudly admit they released it.
They they they. You mean him.

At the time Shakespeare was writing the word ‘cunt’ was in common parlance and was not considered obscene. You try using it to refer to people today and I think you might find any excuses of ‘but it was alright in the past’ would probably get you short shrift.
You might think it’s ‘pisstaking’ but most people are taking the piss purely because they consider it to be ridiculous. Sam is perfectly within his rights to identify how ever he wishes, but he does not have the right to force other people to go along with any of it.
