This is the thing, even if you do have the intention of calling someone by the
surname they’ve asked, it’s so easy to revert back to what you previously knew/referred to them as.
Cheryl Tweedy asked to be called
Cheryl Cole a few years ago, and once most people got used to it, she then said she
was divorcing and starting going by
just Cheryl again…
it’s unrealistic to 1). expect everyone to know what
surname you go by, and 2). get everyone to change their speech patterns and expect them to have that split second initiative all the time where they ‘correct’ themselves.
