If Lizzy's removed some innocuous vlogs where she references living in NY, it's likely to do with trying to obscure her timeline for immigration purposes. Lots of posters here (quite rightly) pointed out how stupid it was for her to document closely how long she's spending in each country when it appears she's abusing the 90-day visa waiver program.

Lizzy also asked her viewers for questions about living between London and New York; when the majority of questions were about her finances and visa arrangements, that mission was promptly aborted šŸ˜

I think people underestimate Lizzy's desire to be viewed as someone who is artistic, cultured and worldly. It's the reason she traverses busy urban cities with an always-visible book in hand, the reason she aligns herself with the Italian architect, the reason she taught herself to like wine (lol), and the reason she wants to brand herself as bicontinental. I honestly believe that's a far greater driver for her than trying to copy (older and arguably less successful) Lindsey.

I also feel that as ā€œinfluencingā€ has grown and moved away from ā€œthe friend next door suggesting productsā€ to a ā€œbuy this buy thisā€ cycle, the essence has been lost. Very few influencers Iā€™ve seen have grown past buy this buy this. They offer nothing. No expertise, no experience, very little knowledge (beyond what the brief says to say). When Lizzy says sheā€™s found the perfect short black coat, 1) what does that even mean, 2) WHY is it perfect and 3) WHAT makes it different to the 10s of others she already as (aside from it being expensive and free)? The industry is so saturated now and if thereā€™s nothing that sets you apart from your peers, whatā€™s the point? I assume they all hang on because I probably also wouldnā€™t go back to working 9-5 if I could laze around all day, making money on links that required an hour at most of work once and getting all of the stuff that I have to budget for or really question if I need it for free šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I just want to know if they feel any guilt at all for working within an industry that is a huge contributor to the climate emergency, continued reliance on capitalism and overconsumption and messing with peopleā€™s mental health. Iā€™m guessing no because theyā€™re all narcissists.

Here's the struggle I have with these two. Logically I know that women should be allowed to show their bodies without shame. I certainly don't think Lindsey needs to cover herself up just because she has a boyfriend. And if you love your body, all the more power to you. So a part of me feels like I'm slut-shaming these two when they post half-naked selfies, and that is a problem. But then the other part sees it as perpetuating the culture of thinness and whiteness (disguised as "body confidence" and "wellness") and wants to take them to task for that. It's easy to say "Love your body!" when your body already falls into what society deems acceptable and desirable. Plus, I dunno, there's just something about the way these two do it that is off-putting, like watching a bad amateur music video. I don't know if this jumble of thoughts makes any sense. I just felt I had to work out what annoys me so much about them.

Overconsumption aside, I don't think Lizzy is stupid with money. Right from the start of her channel, she treated it as a business, writing off fashion/beauty/home/tech purchases as business expenses. She was letting property up north and now has a property in London. I imagine there are other long-term stock investments (from her inheritance and trust fund) that we're not told about.

Having professional, well-to-do parents equipped to advise you on financial literacy is another privilege that is rarely acknowledged.

"Yo, you can actually use the clothes you have instead of getting them gifted, wearing them once and sending them off to your mum. šŸ¤Æ" What's going to be next? Lizzy finding out that some people actually live in the house their purchased?

At least it's different, I'll give her that! I still think she's in need of a better winter coat though šŸ˜‚
I'm conflicted with this balaclava trend that Lizzie, Brittany et al are all jumping. Whilst I agree it's practical, why is it that skinny white girls can wear head/face coverings but if a Muslim woman or black man do it, they are deemed to be oppressed by the patriarchy, threatening etc?

This isn't an attack on anyone who chooses to wear/ like them I just think it's an interesting point to consider.

I'd like to know what society is she referring to, because from what I've seen in my short life it's usually the opposite, from elementary school friendships to romantic relationships -- some is deemed better than none, even if it's unhealthy, draining or straight toxic.

Especially when it comes to women, that's what still makes divorce (hell, even "just" a break-up) problematic, the constant pressure to "have" someone, to not to be seen as an odd one. That's why so many people (especially men, ehem) think threatening a woman with the good old "you will become a crazy cat lady" is an "argument". When, if you really think about it, it's a rather empowering/freeing situation.

I also think Lindsey misunderstood the message she reacts to. It's not a "you HAVE to be alone", but rather a "perhaps, enjoying your own company first allows you to explore yourself and therefore your wishes, preferences, boundaries, standards... Which you can later cultivate in relation to other people, therefore creating and maintaining your relationships. Or recognising when it's time to walk away.

She's not the girl boss she fancies herself, and I'd not guess her age correctly after reading that snippet. At least, it's better than the infamous GooD bRAIn DaYs šŸ˜œ rubbish, lol.

Not Lizzy getting the new Sally Rooney book in advance like any good book reviewer out there when her book reviews make as much sense as a two years old trying to to form a cohesive monologue
"It was so so so SO SO good, I read it so so quickly"

Cool

Guys. Lizzy is saying she "can't afford the rent" to sound relatable. She can absolutely afford lodging in New York if she wants to otherwise she would not be flying there every 6 weeks. Her job doesn't even require her to be there, it's just for the D. She may not be staying at the Ritz Carlton or even in Manhattan, but she has committed to it and put "London/NYC" on her IG profile, so she definitely has the means to do this, but is simply trying to get her followers to do the work for her/beg for gifted stays as per usual.

In other words - her mum has (quite rightly) said she wonā€™t keep travelling back and forth to transport the cat. And Lizzy canā€™t be arsed doing it herself pre and post travels.

Irresponsible pet owners are fucking ghouls. Poor Luigi. Lizzy wanted something to amuse her during lockdown, thatā€™s all.

Between this and seeing Gizzi Erskine ditch her older cat for kittens itā€™s too much right now šŸ˜¢

And the subtle flex about her small waist by sticking fingers into the waistband. Look, my jeans are too big because I'm such a small human! šŸ¤¢šŸ¤¢ this reminds me of the thinspo I fell for as a teenager, disgusting!
