I hear ya The love of my life was killed in February in a motorbike accident. I posted about funeral arrangements and since then I posted a pic of him once on the six month anniversary of his death along with a Kipling poem. I even turned the comments off on it because I wanted to mark the occasion but I didn't want the sympathy, not did I want my friends to feel obliged to comment. So Jake using these deaths for sympathy, engagement etc makes me feel sick to my stomach.
(I did mention this earlier in the year here and got some lovely responses - the kindness of strangers is such a beautiful, pure thing - but please don't feel you need to extend sympathies again, it just seems relevant to bring it up in this conversation here. I'm really not fishing for sympathy unlike Quickenden Jake Quickenden.)

To use bereavement as an engagement tool on social media is despicable. It shows a lack of respect for the departed and a complete disregard for the other people mourning. I cannot abide Soapy Su but I feel for her because she must be there scrolling Instagram thinking about her hanging baskets and whatnot and up pops photos of her dead son and ex husband on a regular basis.

I hate Jake more for this than any other of the horrible/crass/thirsty things he does.
