I just love this thread. It’s like the girls bathrooms on a night out but without the lollipop lady and the girl sniffing coke off the toilet roll holder. :ROFLMAO:

Just went for a browse in Superdrug. The assistants wear headsets in there. I walked in and stopped by the counter and an assistant was tidying up make up. Someone said something in her earpiece, she looked at me and said, don’t worry, its just an old woman. I am double hurt - a)because I obviously looked like a shoplifter (I looked smartish today) and b)the dismissive way I was talked about and c) if I am more honest, this was the killer blow - because she thought I was an old woman. I didn’t buy anything. No point. Went to B&Q to get some paint. Contemplated getting polyfilla for my face.

If your trying for or even avoiding a baby I wouldnt bother. We was avoiding pregnancy via ovulation tracking... boom got pregnant (my fellas swimmers lived for 7/8 days inside me). Then sadly lost the baby and started trying/tracking and nothing. This is my first month of just not bothering anymore as too upsetting when my period comes.
Since posting this I've discovered I am infact pregnant. My hair is getting SOOOOO greasy. Is there anything I can do or is it just something I have to ride out?

I have no business being on this thread.

When you get to a certain age the bastard chin hairs appear, sometimes over night! For the past few days I felt there were a couple of hairs that needed plucking away but they did not seem big. I thought leave them to my maintenance day (I.e Sunday - when I do a lot of the necessary work to look and feel presentable for the week - you know what I mean). Well, the small hairs turned out to be humongous- they were curly and when plucked out they must have been an inch long. I have been walking around with these ridiculously long hairs for the last few days. Mortification. All I need is a wart and a toad and I could pass for a witch. It is hard keeping on top of stuff, isn’t it. Husband never noticed. Love is blind or he has stopped really looking at me, which happens in long term relationships.

I am going to schedule in chin patrols for every couple of days.

I’m so jealous of everything you buy, they all look so good! You might have a shopping addiction though 🤣❤
Oh I 100% have a shopping addiction 😂 also doesn’t help that I’m so easy influenced (I’m a marketers dream!). I don’t really spend on anything else, barely eat out, no kids, so a lot of my money goes on makeup/skincare /jewellery/clothes and anything beauty related 🙂

sounds a bit sad but trying new makeup or using my favourite perfumes every day or using my new skincare really makes me happy and adds a bit of happiness to my day ♥

I went for a massage with my mum and sister once. Really nice place. I got undressed and my therapist stared at me and said “I’m sorry I can’t massage you if you’re pregnant”. In front of my mum and sister.

I was only 22 then, and a size 10, I just hold some weight around my abdomen. I was so crushed and hurt…

Can someone tag me when this thread stops being a parenting advice thread and goes back to normal... not a dig at the original question, but it was a question of what skincare to buy for 2 11 year olds, not a request for essays on social media and skincare in the under 16s.

So are we all in collective agreement that 2024 is the year we stop being overly influenced and only buy what we need to!! 😭
Joking, it’s always nice to have a treat but I really would say look through all your drawers, cupboards and storage to see how much stuff you do actually have before making any new purchases - a message to myself first and foremost

Can’t believe it’s taken until thread 9 for me to see these wee gems! Only got through a few posts (phone battery dying & I need to do this bloody elf!) but I’m definitely Making time tomorrow to go through all these hints & tips. Been really struggling to feel comfortable in my own skin the last year since I was diagnosed with breast cancer & went through chemo with all the nasty side effects it brings. I’m thankfully out the other end of it all now & clear - been focussing on my 2 young kids recently & have got in a funk. Still using the same make up since about 2002 so appreciate all the recommendations 🥰

It’s quite sad that 11 year olds are asking for skincare regimes from Nip Tuck etc. Not throwing shade at the OP mum, just the way that children are being marketed to via social media and outside influences. Just the word regime means an ordered way of doing things - and an 11 year old should not be thinking about routines and structure at that age. I know things move on but the small period of childhood gets more and more compressed, and the compression is usually down to commercialism, get them young and locked into a lifetime (if you are a woman) of trying to buy self esteem by way of exterior things. Wrong thread, and here endeth the lesson.

I need some help please.

I’m currently going through the interview process for a new job and IF I’m successful I’ll be office based 5 days a week. I’ve been home based for the past 2 years and have become really lazy with my appearance. During that time I also gave up dying my hair and embraced my grey (naturally dark brown with about 60% grey mainly at front and top) but I look like crap and feel like I’ve lost my way.

I currently use Elemis Cleansing Balm and Pro Collagen Marine cream and either Rodial Vit C cleanser or Elemis energising cleanser. I’m also using Dermatica for melasma.

Make up wise I’m extremely low maintenance (lazy) and normally use Trinny BFF and Just a Touch along with whatever lipstick I dig out my bag. I hate mascara as it tends to irritate but I’ve got pretty dark (albeit short) lashes and get LVL lifts.

I’m 44 and apart from the odd hormonal chin spot my skin is pretty clear but a bit dull with some sagging. I’m fed up of looking tired/old/washed out and need to start making more effort if I’m going to be leaving the house regularly but I really don’t know where to start.

Where do I start? What are your ‘can’t live without’ products?
I made you this little collage with some basics, you don't really have to complicate things, keep it simple! Don't be afraid of a light coat, It doesn't get dirty, it's chic and magically transforms your whole outfit.

I am so guilty of keeping things for best, I don’t know how to convince myself not to do this
I saw something on reddit that someone said about instead of saving stuff for a special occasion. Use it on a random day and make yourself the special occasion. Something along them lined and boiiiii it changed my mindset.

Hoping to try and use up some of my makeup collection next year with the idea of creating a curated set of products I love. Currently I find that I don't rotate through my products, just grab whatever I've left out rather than going through my drawers every day. Any recommendations on what I can do?
And don’t keep anything for best.

I'm sorry but that's needs to be reported to their customer service team. Wtf, piss poor customer service and just plain ignorant.

I don’t think this thread is the place to lecture others about where they should be spending their money. I hadn’t heard anything about this campaign either.

Has anyone ordered for cider before? Their clothes keep coming up on adverts for me and I quite like a lot of them but don't want to buy if they're rubbish

I’m gonna be that person here but please please look on Vinted or Depop/charity shops cause the slave labour that goes on at Cider (same as any fast fashion place) is literally horrific. I couldn’t in good faith keep buying and wearing stuff that had been made like this. I know it’s hard to resist when ads are constant on insta but you start to feel a lot better when you stop funding slave labour.
