I’m 34 this year and feel like I’m stuck in my early 20s with style and skincare/ makeup. I want to be more put together so I feel more confident and actually look my age. I read this thread daily but get so overwhelmed of where to begin.
Style wise I’m 5ft 8 size 12/14 pear or hourglass (trying to lose weight). Any advice for someone who is totally lost?
I was in the same place and stumbled across this on You Tube. Here's a selection but she does all sorts and recommends things that make life easier.

Can I ask … is there anyone here who does hair and makeup every day? I wish I could be like that and really admire people that do as you feel so much better for it when you’ve made the effort ! Can anyone share their routine ? I love hearing about people’s beauty /morning routines
I do, it allows me time to wake up properly and work out what to wear 😆
- cleanse face
- Moisturise
- Feed the cats to slow moisturiser time to sink in
- Put on minimal make up, which usually comprises of a little foundation on my rosacea, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil, mascara and lipstick. Maybe a little bronzer if im in the office
- Take hair out of curling hairband if I haven’t already and tame into some kind of ‘do, usually throwing the side back into a clip
- Curl eyelashes and pop on lipstick

Help me out guys - I always see Instagram videos of people putting foundation or CC cream on with a sponge or brush. I’ve resisted this far. Does it make a difference? Laughing emoji for yes, sick face for no…

I bought uklash a few weeks ago and can definitely see a difference!

Let’s talk nails! I’m back having gels done after a hiatus for splitting, and I’ve always stuck to classics - either micro French or dark red/rouge noir.

I’m not a colourful person (I wear black/tan/ white) so any suggestions which would suit? I work in the city so it needs to look smart and block colour (no nail art.)

I’m overwhelmed on Pinterest!
I’ve been loving a nice terracotta colour for hands and feet (like a smoky burnt orange). Close enough to red that it goes with most work looks but unusual.

Someone told me yesterday that I’ve been looking tired for ages! 😞
I am tired, but if anyone has any recommendations for a make up look that makes me look more fresh and alert, I’d be grateful 😂
Also, has any tried colladeen supplements? I’m tempted but I don’t want to waste the money if they’re nothing special.
Get yourself an ice roller from Amazon!! Amazing for wakening the face up and a great de puffing effect. Also tell that person to f*ck off if they say that again 😂😂😂

Update On my chin hair laser, as I know some people on here were discussing this issue-

2 weeks in and i am LOVING it. The first week after my laser was Horrendous 🤣 i was so used to plucking/threading and the urge to do it when the hairs were popping out was too much! I did resist and just shaved as close as possible but it was still so annoying as i could still feel it and i could see the shadows BUT on my 2nd week now and i shaved on Saturday and now tuesday and its sooo smooth and havent had to touch in between when last week i was basically shaving everyday.

Anyone else having issues like this definitely recommend getting it!

Also- got my hollywood and the hairs are just falling out 🤣

How much does everyone spend on skincare every month? I'm not great at doing it every day, as I am forgetful and also I don't think i'm using the right products as I sometimes get a lot of redness after doing my regime regularly. I'm looking into signing up to one of the personalised skincare subscriptions (like skin and me or Klira) but some of them cost nearly £80 a month, and you don't get the full skincare regime - just a serum/daily treatment. But I have no idea what my skin type is, and get so confused by all of the millions of products, that perhaps it's worth it to get some expert help!
There's a little saying I use for myself whenever I sort of start to go overboard with products and get redness/irritation or whatever - Keep it Simple Stupid (KISS). Honestly it's my saying for a lot of things 😂

My advice is, get the basics right first:
Cleanser
Moisturiser
SPF

Those don't need to be expensive - Inkey List, Cerave, The Ordinary etc.

Then okay, what skin 'issues' need addressing? Whatever they are, look for a serum that will address those concerns (so maybe that's where you might go for the personalised serum from Dermatica or Skin & Me or maybe something from The Ordinary or Inkey list or Paula's Choice).

The simpler a routine is the easier it is to stick to I find, so I would try to not worry about having multiple steps or products.

I’ve noticed as I age (😭) that two things reaallllyyyy affect me: alcohol (even a small amount, if it’s frequent) makes my whole face look different and worse. And alcohol and salt make my lower tummy area puff up like crazy. It’s almost instant. It’s not bloating from the inside, if that makes sense - it’s just the fat gets fatter! And mainly all below the navel. It’s so annoying!

Morning after hydrafacial and micro needling.
Last night all I did was gently wash off the left over vit c serum from micro.
Skin is bouncy and glowy this morning! Really happy with results. Colleagues have commented that skin looks fresh today 😊
Physician also recommended Niacinamide for pore maintenance. I have the Ordinary Niacinamide so will give it a try

Please don’t go to M&S to be measured. They are notoriously terrible and use out of date measuring styles. They automatically add 4 inches to the band which is nonsense. You wouldn’t measure your feet then go up four sizes.
M&S will also fit you to their stock. Try the boob or bust suggestions.

Rather than go all in on one brand I'd recommended switching over to new products one thing at a time so you know what works and what doesn't (and catch if a product irritates or whatever).

I wouldn't personally buy Tropic as I dislike MLMs. I know some tattlers have had luck with Beauty Pie products, but the subscription model seems annoying to me.

Beauty Pie used to be great but I cancelled mine once the prices went bonkers. Coincidentally it was around the same time they started paying influencers £10k+ to advertise, which was something they always said they wouldn’t do as that’s what makes other brands expensive! Also their ‘RRP’ is ridiculously inflated. One of the masks I used to get claims it’s now over £100, yeah right! I’ve since replaced it with one from Elf for loads cheaper than they charge. It’s turned into a bit of a scam in my opinion, nothing like what it used to be.

Just popping by the say that I’ve been using skin and me for about a year and it’s amazing it’s completely got rid the lines around my mouth and my skin looks plumper and younger - I also picked up retinol from primark a few weeks back which I put on twice a week before bed and that also seems to be the best really stimulating the collagen! I have Botox around my eyes and forehead every 6 months - I’ve only recently started wearing a little make up if I feel comfortable im looking a bit tired and a bit of fake tan isn’t cutting it and use elf primer and halo filter foundation it’s so nice 👌🏻

the absolute key is retinol. Start with something low % if you don’t already use it. Then I’d recommend getting on skin and me or Dermatica and getting a Tretonin prescription
I've started on retinol and I'm nearly at the end of the first tube so now applying every night. I went for Medik8 in the end.

Evening - retinol all over face, followed by retinoate day/night cream.

Retinol under eye serum

Morning - Vitamin C serum, followed by retinoate day/night cream.

Definitely noticed an improvement in my skin and I know 100% for sure it's working as my husband said to me this morning that I'm glowing and he never notices anything 😂

Hi all - any advice on an everyday bra?

Either none or very lightly padded i don’t want to add any extra bulk!

I miss my smaller pre kids / extra weight boobs

I wear TShirt bras from Dunnes in Ireland but I’m not loving them

I have the flexifit non wired full cup bra from M&S in my bag but not sure?
I have spent many years wrestling with Bra’s. During lockdown I wore sports bras because like everyone else I constantly wore leisure clothes. The weight piled on. After this I lost the weight and gained back my fitness and figure that I had in my 30’s.
I then took the steps to revamp my wardrobe starting with my underwear firstly. I went and had myself fitted with a good bra at John Lewis and was recommended the Chantelle brand. They are feminine, soft and smooth. Not cheap but definitely well worth it. They look great under t shirts and give just the right definition with out being double boobed and sit comfortably on the shoulders and in the right place on your back. Super comfortable. I then went on to buy the briefs and vests from the range. No vpl and sit perfectly they come in many colours and can be plain in design or with pretty lace and embroidery. Hope this helps.

i'm interested to know what everyone's biggest beauty splurge has been recently? i'm not necessarily talking hundreds and hundreds of pounds, just something you wouldn't ordinarily treat yourself to. wanting to do the same but nothing's really springing to mind!
After my foundation complaints, I JUST treated myself to the Armani silk foundation (25% off in Boots, hooray!), thank you @Happy35 for the recommendation

I think a lot of people would be surprised about how wrong their bra size is. The band is meant to be a bit tight on the loosest clip so that as it stretches you can still tighten it by adjusting what clip you have it on. The cup size is just how much bigger you are around your boobs than around your chest where the band goes. Eg DD on a 30 inch band is very different to DD on a 38 inch. I used to wear a 40E, tried boob or bust which measured me as 36HH and it is so much more comfortable and supportive
