Yup. I’m 37 and had to have one out last year that had shifted and caused me so much pain. Much as I’m not a fan of dentists the pain was so bad they could’ve done anything to me as long as it went away. In reality they took 2 mins to get the bleeder out once the anaesthetic worked. I feel your pain. In the meantime clove oil helps (from chemist) and I used to put a hot water bottle or hot flannel on my face.

That's so so good to know (and sorry you went through it that's awful). It's so painful isn't it, I've never had dental pain aside from when I got braces and this is so awful! I'll get those bits for the pain. They're also really sensitive too which is weird

Poor you it’s rubbish. Oh and also take ibuprofen/paracetamol for pain relief too 👍🏻 Hope you get an appointment to sort it easy enough in these crazy times.

I had 2 out age 19/20 under anaesthetic. About 5 years later I had another one out at the dentist, it came out easily then about 2 years ago I was having trouble with the remaining one and it used to wobble. I don’t really like injections so I suggested I have it out with no anaesthetic and i felt a bit of a tug and it came out. This was in my late 40’s. I have gum disease though and lose bone so this is how they become loose.

I hope the dentists open soon as I need two more teeth out due to my bone loss. I have considered pulling them out myself as they’re quite loose!

My wisdom teeth started growing in when I was early 20’s, woke up one night with awful jaw & earache, went to the doctors to be told I had a build up of wax & get syringed, in the meantime the pain got worse & I went to the emergency docs & given antibiotics for an ear infection, it cleared up I then had my ears syringed & the nurse discovered I had a perforated eardrum, roll on a few more yrs & being fobbed off by the dentist that my wisdom teeth would grow in, more ear infections, headaches, neck ache, toothache, sore tongue, ulcers but all that’s normal apparently, plucked up the courage to ask my dentist (different one) to have them taken out, suffered 17 yrs at this point, he said yes, the hosp did x-rays top teeth were growing out not down, bottom teeth impacted so would never grow in! Had all 4 taken out under general anaesthetic, went down at 9am, came back at 10am, discharged at 10.30am, best thing I did after all those yrs of pain!

Only one of mine has ever come through and I had to have it removed as it kept getting infected. One time it was so bad the whole right side of my face swelled up and I couldn’t even open my mouth.

I had all 4 of mine out at the same time couple of years ago under general anaesthetic at hospital. I had one tooth which was a impacted and witch to remove so had a bunch of stitches from where they had to slice the gum open.

When I went back to the dentist for a check up he went “oh, they did they not take out the second set?” .....errrr....wut? 😳

Apparently I have an extra set of wisdom teeth (extra wise over here) 🤣 Praying they won’t ever need removing (they haven’t come through) I don’t think I can go through the whole ordeal again 😣

Anyone not get theirs? I got my first one at 20 and my second at 31 and other 2 still haven’t appeared. Is it safe to say they’ll never come?

Slightly younger but at 29/30 mine decided to become constantly infected - they’ve been sat there happily half through since I was 18 and I just assumed they had given up :ROFLMAO: I’m on the waiting list to have the buggers out but someone told me it’s a 2 year wait and that was before lockdown!

I'm 27 with 2 wisdom teeth on the left side (top and bottom).

The first one grew fully when I was about 24, had no problems. The bottom one grew into the side of my mouth practically overnight so it's actually perched on my jawbone 😩 because of it I've ended up with really bad TMJ.

I got referred to a specialist in November for it to be taken out but then lockdown happened. 💔

Thanks everyone for the replies, and sorry I missed them haha. Still in grief but have an appointment tomorrow week. I want to rip them out haha

One of mine still isn't through. I read somewhere once that wisdom teeth are meant to be a replacement for teeth that have been lost, we aren't genetically designed for them to be in our mouths along with our full set . I don't know if it's true but it's sounds like a sensible theory to me

I had two out at the age of 35. Bottom one was impacted. The actual procedure was fine. It wasn’t marvellous after I won’t lie. Constant stream of painkillers for about 5 days then slowly I was able to reduce it. I took cocodamol which didn’t actually help the pain but it helped me to sleep. I lost 10 pounds in the process but I’ve had no trouble whatsoever since having it done 3 years ago. So it was definitely worth it as I was constantly getting infections which were painful.

That’s interesting as I did have some teeth out when I was young and my daughter had 4 teeth out and is now getting her wisdom teeth.

I had a full set of braces when I was younger (thumb sucking until I was a teen wasn't a great idea). I had four teeth taken out and essentially my teeth pulled forward. My wisdom teeth all came through beautifully and easily

My wisdom teeth started coming in at 16...fast forward 16 or so years and they are still not completely through (although, luckily they are coming up straight so don’t need removing). Once a year or so I get torturous pain from. Worse than child birth! It’s usually when they shift up slightly and/or a food particle gets trapped and it becomes inflamed. My dentist advised rinsing with mouth wash then laying with milk on the area for 5 or so minutes. It doesn’t stop the pain completely but after a few repeats it subsides dramatically.

In my area I was referred in the March (2018) had consultation at the hosp in July, then had them taken out November 2018 so not bad really.

I’ve had two of mine out. One I had to pay about £400 for to go private as the dentist would just not refer me

the other (I changed dentist) I was told I needed the other three out as they all grow impacted and referred to nhs, got an appointment and turns out they only referred me for the one that was causing me pain at that time (Id paid to get fillings replaced and a root canal on the tooth next to it as the dentist refused that it was the wisdom tooth)

So at some point I need the other two out. Best thing I’ve done though the pain was the worst I’ve ever had an goes almost instantly. They are VERY reluctant to let you get it done on the nhs though I’ve found. Not sure if just my area?

I get a couple of days of pain now and again from what I assume is a new growth spurt

That’s such a long time! I was referred nov 2017 and had it done feb 2018. Would have been jan but couldn’t make the original date (they rang me last minute with a cancellation so I couldn’t do that one) I went to hospital to get it done though.
