What is your skin care routine?

I’ve never really had a strict skin care routine. Usually just wash with a face wash and throw a bit of Moisturiser on. Recently I’ve started to make more effort though. I’m getting on now and the wrinkles are appearing 👵🏻

So I’ll wash my face with soap and glory vitamin c face wash
Apply some The ordinary buffet serum and then some The ordinary natural Moisturiser.
Night time is pretty much the same but I’ve ordered some pixi vitamin c tonic and The ordinary Retinoid emulsion. Also use The ordinary rose hip oil.

There’s so much stuff out there! You could spend half the day applying layers of different products!

Does anyone have any good reviews on skin care products? What’s your skin care routine? Also need a good spf for my face but don’t really want to use the normal suntan lotions, they’re too sticky!

I didn't start using skin care properly until I was 30 🤣. I use the Tropic range, cleanser, toner and moisturise in AM and at night the same but I also use a serum. I do face masks as required, a face Scrub once a week. Keep hydrated is the best advice I can give

I double cleanse (Bioderma micellar water to remove makeup/sunscreen + cleanser), usually a toner or facial mist (I like Avene eau thermale the most!), moisturizer, and then usually an eye cream and lip balm if night, and sunscreen if the morning. It's a 3-5 step process and I'll also use the occasional AHA/BHA, Vitamin A or C, which I would put on before the moisturizer. I would say for a simple routine, all you need is a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

As far as sunscreen goes, if you don't like the stickiness or white cast of physical sunscreens, you can try a chemical one. I like the La Roche Posay Antheolios one (both the chemical and physical formulations) and the Shiseido Ultra Sun Protection.

I use baby wipes to wash my face . Also to remove make up. I use a Olay bb cream. I drink lots of water daily and at night. My skin doesn't have many wrinkles. No one can believe how old I am.

Love this thread.

I use Lacura (Aldi) pink clay hot cloth cleanser, followed by Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin Daily Moisturiser morning and evening and QI Energy eye cream. I also use The Body Shop Drops of Youth Liquid Peel once or twice a week, as well as Lacura pink clay face mask once a week. I use Beauty Pie Featherlight SPF 50 too as I have fair skin.

I don't 🙈

I do wash my face in the shower but don't always put moisteriser on, only if my skin is dry. I don't always use face cleanser either, sometimes just ordinary soap. If I've worn makeup I use cleansing wipes or baby wipes 😂😂

I use pixi glow toner, I have a a selection of serums, my favourites are the ordinary niacinamide + zinc, and salicylic acid, neals yard wild rose serum (smells amazing) and I have a couple of moisturisers , neals yard rose and frankincense, I love the pixi mud mask and my favourite cleanser after trying loads is probably liz earle cleanse and polish

I've probably spent an absolute fortune on skincare but the above products are my favourite so far, I have combination skin that has suffered from acne in the past but been really good lately.

I love using things with natural ingredients that smell good , it's like a mini spa day for me in the morning and evening 😍

Interested to see what everyone else is using!!

Day
Cleanse - Usually Cerave Hydrating cleanser/Ordinary squalane cleanser but sometimes mix it up with Medik8 Resurface cleanser.
Toner - Paulas Choice BHA 2% 2-3 times a week or Pixi Glycolic 5%. Pixi Rose toner otherwise.
Spray - Sukin hydrate I think it’s called
Eye cream - Ole Henriksen banana (I think it’s called something else) or Inkey caffeine. I’m dry under my eyes so any recommendations welcome!
Serums - Ordinary HA, Inkey Vit C or Ordinary Ascorbic Acid.
Moisturiser - Inkey Peptide or Hada Labo Day cream in the silver pot
Spf - LRP Anthelios 50 or UltraSun 30. I have a Your Good Skin spf 30 moisturiser combined for days when I don’t go out/gym.

Night
Double cleanse - Body Shop Camomile Butter/Simple Hydrating Oil for first cleanse and then Cerave Hydrating cleanser for 2nd cleanse. I have some AHA cleansers what I use a few times a week.
Toner - Same as morning but usually Pixi Rose toner as my skin can be sensitive if using too many acids in 1 day. Again toner recommendations welcome!
Spray hydrate - Sukin hydrate spray
Treatments/Serums - LRP Retinol B3 twice a week on dry skin (so no acid toners that night). Otherwise Ordinary Nicinamide/HA or Estée Lauder Advance Night Repair (love but so expensive). Also use Hada Labo HA serum in the red bottle
Other treatments include Inkey ceramide treatment or Inkey tranexamic acid on non retinol nights.
Moisturiser - Hada Labo night cream, Sukin ageless night cream or sometimes use my day creams if I want something lighter. No moisturiser when I use tranexamic acid.

sorry if there’s typos but I’m not going back and changing it, took ages to type 😂 I sound high maintenance but I enjoy looking after my skin!

Well now I’m more confused than ever🤣🤣
I honestly didn’t realise how huge the skincare industry was. Like I knew it was massive but it’s just never ending!

I’ve just had my Retinoid emulsion delivered so I’ll start using that tonight. Anyone know if I use that every night or do u build it up? I don’t really have very sensitive skin or anything.

Also I’d love to know more about double cleansing. I don’t wear any make up unless a night out/special occasion so I’m assume just 1 cleanse is enough?

I also use a body shop cleansing brush to wash my face with the face wash. It’s soooo soft and gently on your face so would recommend that.

I've been using Tropic for around 4 years now. For full disclosure I'm an ambassador but don't worry not about to link you to my shop! 😉

I’ve been looking at the Ordinary nicinamide and think it would suit me. I have some pigmentation and enlarged pores. Can you mix it with a Moisturiser or serum do you know?

My mum who is a soap n water devotee (and has nice skin!) always says “ooh watch you’re not doing too much” when i talk about skincare - and I have a fairly minimal routine! I do get what she means though, I’ve been fortunate to have good skin and only now kicking 40 am I having to concentrate on what to use, so don’t want to overload with products that might make my skin ‘lazy’ or strip it of oils.

I use any mid price cleanser (ordinary, aldi hot cloth, fave is neutrogena hydro boost) with a hot cloth and do it twice.
I use a cheapy serum (Olay if on offer, aldi, or drops of youth if I’m feeling extravagant).
Then use a day or night cream again not with any brand loyalty - mostly aldi or whatever nivea type thing is on offer.
Also use Neutrogena eye cream which I feel is a good enough dupe of Clinique all about eyes, and a no 7 facial oil if my skin feels parched (usually when hungover).

Tiredness is my nemesis and no product is going to help if I’m knackered. I do however remove all make up before bed even if v drunk, and stick religiously to my routine.

I’m ashamed to say that I used to be a Stacey Solomon and would sleep in my make up 😱 Then baby wipe my face next morning! Now I’m....

AM:-

- cleanse (liz Earle eucalyptus)
- tone (Elemis lavender)
- azeliac acid (The ordinary, doings wonders for my redness!)
- moisturise (either bodyshop vitamin C or Elemis marine)

PM:-

- micellar water (whichever was on offer)
- cleanse (Elemis pro collagen balm)
- tone (Elemis lavender)
- moisturiser (currently using a boots own, love it)

Sometimes switch my moisturisers (am and pm) for bybi oils. The pink, yellow and purple are my favourites.

then use Garnier Micellar water to take the rest of it off
then wash my face with La Roche Posey Effaclar foaming gel
moisturise with Effaclar duo.
use Origins eye cream.

This is what I’m afraid of @SarcasticEllis to be honest. I don’t want to be putting layers and layers on. I’m thinking I won’t really know which of the products is really helping if I use loads.

I’ve tried neutrogena before and it’s the only thing that really didn’t work for me. I used a few of the hydroboot products and it didn’t the exact opposite to me! My skin was like sandpaper and so sore.

Ive also tried some of the body shop oils. Drops of youth and oils of life. Both nice not something I’d buy consistently. I have a friend who does body shop parties so I’ll buy from her when things are on offer.

Keep it simple ; cleanse, treat, moisturise.

I’ve been a sucker for skincare in the past and spent a lot of money but I’m now at a stage where I’m happy with Cerave and Aldi Lacura cleansers and moisturisers then spend additional money on serums .

I forgot to mention Elizabeth Arden ceramide serum capsules which are terrific but a bit pricey for me atm, really lovely though and I’ll buy them again when I’ve got the money. I like Dr Jart too , very nice texture and not hugely expensive.

I'm Kiehls everything:

To remove make up: I use one of those primark face mitts damp, wet my face and two squirts of the Ultra Facial Cleanser. Now I don't think it's actually meant for make up removal because it doesn't do the job unless I scrub vigorously. so any good make up remover/cleansers would be welcomed :)

Skin Routine:

Morning:
  1. Ultra Facial Cleanser
  2. Ultra Facial Toner
  3. x2 pumps of Precision lifting & Pore Tightening Concentrate
  4. Youth Dose eye treatment
  5. Ultra Facial Cream

Night:
  1. Ultra Facial Cleanse x 2
  2. Ultra Facial Toner
  3. Youthful Dose Eye Treatment
  4. Midnight Recovery Oil (my god it's amazing)
  5. Ginger Leaf and Hibiscus firming mask (I used to use my Ultra Facial Cream but switched to this at night and it's fab)
