I don't know why but I find it incredibly awkward offering people tea and coffee (people coming to do work at the house). I like to hide away and pretend I don't exist. My husband hates it and will try to be around for when they arrive so he can make them drinks then tell them to help themselves. As you can imagine, the 9 months the incompetent builders took to build our extension was hell on earth. I had to push myself out of my comfort zone every day to offer drinks 😅
In the end I just left the house for the entire day when I was off work and told them to help themselves to drink and snacks. Cost me a bloody fortune, mainly due to the soft plays and lunches out.
🙋🏻‍♀️ but I don't remember writing this 🤣🤣

I always offer tradesmen tea, coffee, biscuits etc., but I’m still not over the one that took a monstrous dump in my toilet and didn’t clean up after himself 😤

I hate it, I’ll make cup of tea etc but I’m not feeding them. No one feeds me at work and I’m paying them enough 🤣

I had a tiler do that when I was out. When I got home and saw it I made him clean it up. I don't clean the loo after my family so I'm sure as hell not doing it for a tradie. I told him I had no problem with him using the loo but he needed to clean up after himself.

Yep, 100%. I always give tea, coffee, biscuits etc and when our garden was done, I made them bacon rolls on their last day and beers. A couple of years ago, they had to close our road for utilities right outside our house and I made the workmen tea and got them some cakes. They dropped my kerb for me when they finished the filling in. 😀
We had this when we let them store some tools in our garage overnight! Just shows, it pays to be nice, you will get your reward!!! 😂

I never know what to do with myself when the window cleaner comes. I hate it. I’ve been known to hide on the landing where there are no windows before!

Same, I once fled to the downstairs loo, but he had spotted me and kept banging on the door saying he knew someone was there. I stayed in the loo for 30mins to make sure he had gone. I'm in my 40s.

I once dropped to the floor in the utility room floor to avoid answering the door. I'd just got home and couldn't be bothered to talk to anyone. I think they saw me come in though and just kept knocking for ages...never did find out what that was about

I do the same when the parcel delivery guy rings my doorbell to ask me to take in a parcel for my neighbours! I used to take them in all the time but she wfh yet never seems to answer the door, they were also never around when mine were delivered so I thought sod it I’m not doing it anymore, so I’ll either pretend I’m not in or I answer and say I’m going away this evening so unfortunately I can’t 🤣

Yeah that's super annoying. You could take them and then leave them out in the rain...

We end up with parcels for up to five different houses because we're the first house in a little group where all have names and not numbers. The drivers don't knock though, we just find them. I have become very petty about them (as previously mentioned with the dripping gutter).
We're the black sheep of the group of houses so our neighbours don't ask if we have them unless it's something urgent.
I went through a phase of quarantining prime parcels for a few days to negate the point of having prime. Now I just leave them outside at the top of the drive for people to find.

Unintended petty action was when I refused to take a parcel in for next door and I’m pretty sure she or he heard it on their Ring, as they’ve avoided me ever since. Which has worked out perfectly for me because I can’t stand them 👍

Petty action incoming from me....afore mentioned neighbours now have their own builders in after causing us problems with our building work. Currently they are using our drive to turn around.
I think I'll be leaving the bins out each time I leave....maybe invest in a bollard or two.
