Trainspotting is going to be a musical.

Shows the utter desperation of the powers that be to rely on any recongisible IP to adapt, how depressing.

I saw a play version a few years ago that did a tour of the UK, it was very very good. It did rely quite heavily on the shock value of flinging "poo" about the place in the toilet scene though.

Having recently seen American Psyhco I thought I might give it a try (as an unlikely musical) - could be fun and tongue in cheek I saw the play version a few years ago, it was great but then saw that this musical has the same director who did Fawlty Towers and Only Fools and Horses shows and decided I'll wait for reviews before getting a ticket.

People on Facebook are suggesting a play would be much more suitable because what would the lyrics to songs be, would they really have them sing about shitting the bed?

Would the musical not just be a juke box of covers of the tracks in the film? They'd HAVE to have "Lust for Life" and "Perfect Day" at least wouldn't they?

French and Saunders are in the Palladium panto this year
Well that will be ‘interesting’, as for the last few years I’ve got the distinct impression that a) Jennifer doesn’t have much tolerance for Dawn nowadays, probably because b) Dawn’s a bit of a twit. 😬

I keep seeing this being mentioned on TheatreBoard, and for the life of me I cannot fathom who thought this would be a sure-fire success.

Last year she went through a phase of making what were presumably meant to be ‘edgy’ social media posts, but she made a complete fool of herself and lost herself the M&S gig into the bargain.

I think it was a play before it got made into a film - it got a lot of praise at the Edinburgh Fringe iirc

I've been off her ever since her looney fake vicar sermons during lockdown. Completely ruined the joyus legacy of the Vicar of Dibley for me. Ridiculous woman but she has shown her true colours since Oct 7th that's for sure.
