I’ve been taking an iron complex, vitamin d3, turmeric supplement & a few other vitamins as I’m in the same boat really, my mental health has been horrible & I’ve sort of really let myself go. A family member recommended taking some vitamins as my immune system is generally rubbish & I have a few problems with my stomach etc

I’ve been having this constant overwhelming feeling of fatigue / tiredness no matter how much sleep I’m having & it’s driving me mad. I can wake up at a decent time & an hour later I feel like I’ve had absolutely no sleep & could just knock out.. I’m confused tbh because I would’ve thought taking an iron complex (folic acid, b12, iron, vitamin c) would’ve helped a bit? I’ve been taking these now since well before November but I’m not noticing any change whatsoever, absolutely shattered all the time & I don’t know what’s wrong 😩😩. My hair is falling out so bad (I put shampoo in my hair and huge clumps are falling out, no matter what I use!!)
I just absolutely hate myself lately because I feel so lazy/worn out when I wake up & an hour or two later I feel this intense feeling of tiredness never experienced anything like this before lol
Have you been for a blood test?. I'm b12 deficient and bad to push for them to check that. I would start there to be honest!. It sounds alot a like my symptoms and taking b12 changed my life honestly. If I don't take it I'm like a zombie walking through life! If you are taking b12 as part of a multivitamin it's likely the dosage is not strong enough. The b12 I take is 1000mg for example. Get a blood test for deficiencies. Also check your iron levels.

Hello, just wondered if anyone has tried spirulina or chlorella supplements, and did they notice any differences? I’m definitely a sucker for Instagram adverts 😬
I’ve been using the free soul greens which has both of those in (among other things) and I’ve noticed a huge difference in my energy levels throughout the day when I have it in the morning vs when I don’t

It tastes absolutely disgusting though so I shot it in the morning on an empty stomach

Oh really I wasn’t aware of that! No it probably isn’t particularly high in iron, so I should definitely try and increase that first. I know Floradix is meant to be a good iron supplement and not too harsh on the stomach, so I will see if I can get some over the weekend!

They gave me Hycosan Extra which I’ve been using for a couple of days. My eyes definitely feel fresher after use so hoping for some improvement. It’s definitely worth a try - I thought my eyes had deteriorated badly but actually the optician only made the smallest tweak to my prescription! And eye drops are definitely cheaper than new glasses!

That’s great thank you, I’m definitely going to look into this!
You’re very welcome - also thanks for the heads up about the drops you’re using. I need a decent recommendation as the ones I’m using aren’t doing enough!

This may sound silly but did you completely cut all dairy products out or just stopped milk in cereal, tea, coffee etc and replaced for an alternative? I don’t know if I can live without chocolate (I’m aware this does not help acne)
Not at all! I love cheese! For me it was milk in tea, cereal, and also a glass every now and then like a big kid! Also I noticed that my generally clogged sinus totally cleared up too. I now use unsweetened soya milk in tea and cereal, but not in coffee because it goes into this weird spongey gross looking yoke (if you see it you'll understand).

I think it's something that's worth trying, because hey if it doesn't work, oh well, that's one thing tested and done. But if it does, it's a very easy change to make these days :)

Has anyone tried Alforex probiotic? I’ve been recommend to try a probiotic to help balance my hormones which is possibly leading to my cystic acne
I don’t take probiotics but I do eat a lot of probiotic rich foods like miso soup, kimchi, etc. I eat a little bit daily and that has helped my digestion/gut health which has helped my skin, my overall health, immunity (never get sick) etc. read about gut skin axis. I also eat a lot of fibre rich food that are good for prebiotics. . I do get one hormonal zit sometimes but I change my skin care 2 weeks before period to focus on prevention.

I used to take crazy expensive probiotics and none ever helped me. But I have seen a girl I follow who swears by symprove probiotic but she also eats better for her digestion also.

a friend of mine cut dairy out and it’s helped her cystic acne. Not sure if that’s something you have tried.

You really need a full blood work up.

Great thread. Thanks for posting it. I’m reading along and nodding - like many have already said about themselves, I’m constantly tired/fatigued, awful anxiety and depression, brain fog and menstrual/hormone issues. Generally got a lot of horrible stress going on in life at the moment so some of it can’t be helped.

Did an at home blood test which showed I was potentially deficient in vitamin D. My mother in law swears by a high dose D3 supplement, but I’m not keen on tablets etc.

Anyway, it’s a wee bit pricey but I’ve started taking Floradix Immune Support tonic https://floradix.co.uk/product/floradix-immune-support/

It’s a high strength Vit D, B6, B12 formula. Take it once a day before a meal, been on it a month and it’s not made me feel magically 100% better but I do think it’s helping so will give it another few months.

Has anyone tried Lion's Mane supplement in either powder or capsule form?
I took the capsules for about a month and didn't notice any difference. I still have a load and keep meaning to restart so it will be interesting to see if I notice an improvement when I am back on it.

I stopped my vitamins for a while and now I'm suffering again.

Vit D, Magnesium Oxide, B12 and folic acid was my usual combination, which I've now started again of course.
They had me feeling good for a long while. Need a blood test check my levels but I suspect low folate again.

For the folks with dry eyes - my Dad and I both have dry eye syndrome, the optician he sees gave him a supplement to try called MacuShield which I think is l-cartinine based, to help ‘moisturise’ his eye balls. Now his is worse than mine as he also has AMD, but he seems to think it’s helping.

Thank you for the link. It’s quite pricey for me so I’m going to speak to my opticians but the reviews I’ve read sound very positive. Glad your dad has found something to help him. What do you use for your dry eye syndrome?

I use Hycosan too! The one with the red label I use in the morning and night and the ones with the purple label I use throughout the day.

It is quite pricey - I think my dad gets it discounted through his optician, but still not cheap and he’s in his late 70s.

I’m going to give Hycosan a try - but normally I use Thealoz drops. I’ve also tried the A Vogel moisturising eye drops too. Both good - but I need something more!

Thanks, that’s really helpful. I’m going to give it a go because my brain fog and memory recall is appalling. I am also on 100mg Sertraline but my doctor said it’s unlikely to be that (I’m not so sure) so I want to give it a go.
Tbh if it's brain fog and fatigue you are suffering from they should have done a b12 test. If they won't do one you can get them done via online home tests of its something you want to know. Good luck!

No I don’t think they did as I was sure they didn’t test for that either. I’m thinking I’d I go for a B complex then all bases are covered. Would you recommend just b12?
It depends what you are lacking. If you are lacking b12 then deffo b12 but if you are not sure a complex seems to be a good way to go. I was taking other b supplements but found no difference as in a complex it's less concentrated. But that's because I have a particular deficiency in b12. You could always take a complex b but increase b vitamin in your diet?

make sure your doctors next step is a ferritin test to see if you are actually capable of absorbing iron. It is crucial they get to the bottom of why your iron is so low. Take vitamin c with your iron as it helps absorbing.
Food and drink wise:

Apple juice or orange juice
Spinach, kale, watercress
Beef, lamb, ham, chicken, eggs, fish

Focus on iron tablets and vitamin c tablets and making sure your diet is iron heavy.

Hope you feel better!
Thankyou so much! It was actually the ferritin test that was so low. There are a few other iron ones that were tested but they all have different names 🤔 so I’m not sure which is which

Hair care wise I use body shop Shea range. They do minis so it isn’t a huge outlay to see if it suits your hair type.
I have started taking super green powders and capsules which replace your five. Day . I use the next gen u range from Amazon. I also take their mango energy vitamins which I buy from eBay but not their eBay store as their cs is rubbish. I have noticed my skin is a lot fresher and brighter in the past month and I have more energy.
Good luck with your health kick.
This is a really great suggestion. Thank you!

Gosh, I have the same symptoms as some of you.
Totally exhausted for about three days about every six weeks. Other minor bits, inbetween.
They have done test after test and can't find a reason.
