All I can say for now is that she’s extremely cringe, annoying and has a super bad style.
Her flat decor and giant jars of sweets on display are the definition of extra and money waste too.

Long term lurker here, but I’ve got to speak up now cause it’s really driving me insane😂

I attended the same school as Vee. She was a stuck up and pompous girl even then, thought she was a cut above everyone else. Sucked up to every single teacher going and looked down her nose at every single other person there. She describes her school as “disruptive state school”, when it really wasn’t disruptive at all😂 It was a state school yes, but at the time we attended it was considered the best in the area. The waiting list to attend the school was huge. Many people have gone on to become successful nurses, teachers and highly qualified individuals. However not all of us parade it around on social media, and have made our money by exploiting the fact we met a famous best friend at university..

Honestly at this point i dont care whatever school she goes next. Because lets look at all the prior education she got from reputable schools and ask ourselves what was outcome of all years spent in these institutions? I see nothing tangible done. All she did was using her previously famous "besties" such as malala to grab attention and throw self praising parties.

I am honestly confused what these institutions see in her because i see so many other young women and men actually contributing to society/humanity/science etc. Vee does nothing but the acceptances and scholarships found their way to her.

And especially what makes me most uncomfortable is that she creates this image about herself as she is not priviledged, maybe compared to ruby granger and unjaded jade she is slightly disadvantaged but compared to rest of the world she is in a very well position as a girl living in UK who was able to get uni education AND masters AND now maybe even PhD. Where i live most people and their families have to make compromises to receive uni education and they usually decide not to do masters because they cant rely completely on their familys finances and there are limited scholarship opportunities. This in equality or injustice, whatever you call it is one of the main reasons why i despise people like vee, playing as they were in worst position but in reality there are people who are actually giving up things tp achieve what they want

Honestly, I wouldn’t haven taken the spot. Everyone with a brain knew Covid wasn’t going to just go away but rather get worse at the end of 2020 / beginning of 2021. And there’s so much more to it than just Harvard but the whole experience of living in the US, the extracurriculars, all the networking etc. Online uni is bad enough but add on the time difference? No no.

She could have taken this year to do other things (Youtube or Masters Degree related) and re-apply. I’m pretty sure she would have gotten in again and perhaps would have been able to at least go there at the beginning of 2022

I'm cynical, I think she's doing it for the clout but mostly it gives her 3/4 years more content for her Instagram and Youtube, hence the PhD diaries.

Maybe she's ✨️manifesting✨️ an acceptance? Write it on LinkedIn so it will come true??
Yeah but manifest in your diary, doing this online to tens of thousands of people is just incredibly misleading. Also think about which audience sees what - her instagram audience is likely a lot of younger people, and her linkedin audience is professionals who she wants to be hired by. She's purposely misleading them.

this is so over the top that I'm convinced she hates every second of it lmao. did she write this while on c0ke or something
For someone mid-20s and supposedly professional her long self congratulatory captions like this scream "praise meeeeee", so unprofessional. What she could have posted is a smiley pose and a simple few lines to say she is pleased to be living out her dream in California and looks forward to studying. Instead, what her fans see is a long humble brag about how she's funded, how amazing she is, how proud her family are, and (in capital letters) how she definitely (is not) over NYU rejection.

She's allowed to be excited but she doesn't have the self awareness to see that she's become a face for these education charities/appearances but what has she actually done apart from run the Empowered by Vee thing a couple of times (with her sister doing a lot of the admin). What does she actually do at these UN events other than turn up? She doesn't have experience or expertise of solving education issues for girls. She poses for photos abroad, from what we have seen. Let's hope her PhD studies humble her.

So Vee has been accepted into a PhD program, according to her latest vlog. But she is in such a dilemma. She’s going to tell us all about it in the next video. 😂 Then people can give her advice when she’s already made a decision.

She also mentioned planning to move out of her London apartment. Is rent becoming too much? Lol
whats she doing with all her degrees though? what happened to her being passionate about girls' education in Zimbabwe?

I’ve commented on her last few instagrams asking why she had her hair done during a lockdown and she’s either deleted or hidden all of them! Someone has got a guilty conscience!
You can even see videos of her on the @her.lace Instagram having it done and she’s not even bothering with a mask.
As someone who has lost family members to Covid, I’m absolutely sick of behaviour like this from ‘influencers’. I genuinely loved Vee and thought she was such an inspiration but now she’s just proved her idiocy!

exactly what I thought! She’s so full of herself now she doesn’t realize how superficial she looks. Fighting for girls education is not about selling books nor sharing ADs about some weird platform. Nor bragging about how lucky you were EVERY TIME. She just sounds so fake now, I don’t buy any of that.
yessss!! i think she also realized that “fixing” girls education actually takes work and dedication. it also just seems so performative. like social mobility (which i think is her end goal) is enacted through grassroots, community run organizations and policies NOT through listening to social media influencers speak about their educational experiences? dunno, just all seems so superficial and disingenuous.

I find it smug of her to emphasize / brag she is fully funded when we know she can afford to self fund whilst other hardworking students are struggling for funding. I think she wants the title and prestige of being funded but I don't think she actually wants to graft. She was lucky her essay crisis videos trended when they did. Ever since has been on MASSIVE ego trip. She doesn't strike me as genuine.
She didn't last long in her brief part time office job, so how is she going to cope doing PhD studies in an office with other students? She'll probably annoy her fellow students.

Oh, and I can't believe she actually put that she's glad NYU rejected her blah blah blah... Why mention them, focus on Claremont who do want you. I still can't believe she bought NYU merch last year 🤣

If she had behaved a bit less smug the past couple of years then I would be happy for her.

Does she even enjoy education? Or does she just enjoy the prestige of the institutions she’s attended and the letters after her name?

Convinced she chose her undergrad for the college, not the degree subject itself
It's fairly obvious that she did. She went to LMH(?) on some kind of additional year/access programme and then applied for a course at Oxford that she seemed to have no real interest in but which has historically lower applications and higher acceptance rates. She likes to say 'Oxford and Harvard' but there are other institutions that have bigger reputations in Education, but that aren't the kind of name that Vee wants. In all fairness, she's done a fantastic job in using the system to get where she wants (and fair play to her) but it's sad that she's going for prestige rather than a genuine interest in her field. I think she might struggle once she realises she can't do a PhD in Vee.

...that caption is out of this world.
Exactly. I'm all for people being self-motivated and acknowledging their successes, but Vee has a caption like this every week, she keeps talking about making her daddy proud, her mummy proud and she keeps using CAPS LOCKS to emphasise words about how shocked and surprised she is, about how excited she is etc. Does she not realise she sounds far from humble? Because in her head I think she thinks she is humble...but she comes off as a MASSIVE bragger. But I could almost forgive that if she had actually achieved something but so far she's an influencer who did essay crisis vlogs and had run a handful of events where she shares affirmations. But that's not teaching, that's not educating in the actual chaos of the education system. Going abroad to do a keynote speech is not actively participating in educational policy. It's all buzzwords and handclaps 👏👏👏✌✌✌🙏🙏🙏

I have to wonder if her friends secretly think 'stop showing off' as they struggle with their degrees and jobs like the rest of us. I'm not jealous, but fascinated, because I remember when she was just a normal student doing all nighters to get essays done. She's managed, with PR help to pivot into some global educator (who has no substance). But alas she has all this stuff on her CV that looks good on surface level so her grift will last a long time and she'll get invited to the right places etc. She's set up for life. BAFFLING!

People watching is fascinating but can be so annoying.

lol the part near the end where she "cries" about not getting to be a cheerleader or walk around campus like god get a grip
Thing is she could have waited for those opportunities, and she made this very clear in her video when she finished oxford but no she decided to commit to it online therefore she knew what she was signing up too, like fair enough if you were an undergrad who didn’t get a graduation but fuck me

Vee is my biggest Youtuber disappointment. A few years ago her essay crisis videos and the fact that we studied somewhat similar subjects got me through my bachelor studies. I was also so happy to follow her because she seemed genuinely interested in what she studied and she was not a typical "studytube influencer", she just seemed like an intelligent student who happened to film videos. She was very relatable!

I was genuinely looking forward to following her career forward and seeing how she would use her degree. BOY was I disappointed when I started seeing the signs of the influencer curse and how she clearly was not interested in anything other than fame, money and name dropping fancy universities and people. And at first nobody else seemed to agree either, until I finally found this forum (which I've been lurking in for ages now).

It all makes me cringe so bad.
