It's not a fawning obituary. It's factual. The obituary doesn't celebrate Khamenei but it's true that he played an important role in the geopolitics of the region and was able to maintain himself in power for decades even though he was a brutal and disliked leader, not saying it would be like saying Trump has no political instinct, doesn't play any role in geopolitics and hasn't changed the US just because I highly dislike him.Where did I say that? Nowhere.
And nothing that comes from the American government is unquestioningly reported by any outlet other than Fox News. The double standards are the problem. No neutrality or care for actual facts, only bias and sensationalism.
The NYT is currently whitewashing a terrorist who tried to murder Jewish infants so I think they're as much rum as the rest of the press. Never mind their fawning obituary for the Ayatollah.
You are complaining that medias are biased not because you want a more neutral press but because you think they don't say what you want to hear - or not the way you want to hear it.
And no, medias are not publishing statements of dictators or autoritarian states as facts, they present them as statements. If you read articles you'll see they will bring contextual informations to let the reader choose if they can believe those statements or not.
I think total neutrality is anyway impossible. I don't know any medias - social medias included that offers that. The only thing anyone can do is using different sources to form an opinion - that will be anyway biased as our views on morality, politics and society impact the way we look at informations.
