I find posts supporting the Iranian regime concerning. I don’t mean critics of Trump, etc - but blindly supporting a murderous regime.
Pretending that all is well in Iran, despite what they actually do to their own citizens. Not just during periods of revolt either, but day in, day out and for decades.

Totally agree. The bombing and murdering of civilians has to stop but we can still despise a murderous regime as well as wanting war to stop? It’s not black and white but others seem to think it is? I don’t get where the humanity is of these people.
I truly don’t say this to diminish anyone’s pain because every single life lost is a tragedy, but it’s difficult not to feel a sense of imbalance.but Seeing on the other thread such strong grief on sadness and urgency over the 2–3 thousand lives lost in recent weeks makes me wonder why that same level of heartbreak and outrage didn’t seem to be there when 40,000 thousand were killed in just a 3 DAYS!!!
The thing that makes me sad is that on both threads there are people who are denying/ignoring people's sufferings if it doesn't fit their narrative. Or they won't acknowledge the responsibilities of those who did it.
Probably because they couldnt find a way to blame that on Israel.
Hi I'm new on tattle, and apart from the celebrity goss I've been reading quite a lot of the politics threads and have learnt so much from looking at all the angles.
It's probably better to have 2 threads so people don't get into petty arguments. I stop reading when I see this. And I'd also like to keep learning from you all without having to trawl through a load of posts complaining about "the other thread" tbh.

Does anyone worry about misinformation on social media and the rise of AI? I’ve seen videos that are pro regime and also anti regime that have been edited, clips with the wrong translations attached to them, posts that include wrong information. Social media is so prevalent nowadays and it’s where a lot of people get news and information from. With all this going unchecked I wonder if it will cause real life problems such as people taking revenge on a group of people because they saw that X did Y when it’s incorrect. Maybe it has already happened but the cases I cannot recall at the moment.

I try to check everything but I have been found wanting sometimes because there is just so much false stuff out there, combined with bots etc.
The school that was bombed used to be a Basij headquarters until 2015 and I read that allegedly America used this outdated information from dodgy sources as a reason to attack.
Yes I don't even really understand about bots, I wonder if there's a documentary about them, must check.
Can I ask how Reuters got into trouble? I've googled it but can only see a post on X complaining. I don't have X.
I have seen so much AI and general fake posts on X, that I won’t use it. Plus, it’s full of bots (and rage bait).
I would love a thread on tattle discussing AI, news sources, bots etc. I'm very new here though and not sure, will have to check out tattle rules to see what's cool to do a thread about.
I linked it above - they said that these two people mentioned the ongoing war but they didn’t. It’s a relatively small issue in my eyes but for others they are very angry.
Malicious lies and fabricated claims regarding the Middle East (and numerous other topics) have persisted well before AI, unfortunately. AI has just made it all worse.
Something that really gets to me is the BBC and others mainstream news outlets reporting claims from the propaganda bureaus of the Iranian Regime, Hamas and the like, as well as Al Jazeera, as if they were complete fact.
Or with some mealy mouthed sentence right at the bottom about how they haven't verified the claims. They know full well that people won't read past the headline which they've phrased in the most negative and attention grabbing way possible.
I still haven't seen any concrete information about the bombing of the school. Just unsourced, ever escalating claims about casualties and AI images.

Funny that you think propaganda can only come from Middle East regimes. The current american administration is particularly bad at propaganda but like any power they have a long history of using propaganda - especially in wartime.
Do you think the NYT is a mouthpiece of the Iranian regime? The school bombing just shows that no war is clean - bombing civilian area always involves a very high risk of civilians killings.
Where did I say that? Nowhere.
And nothing that comes from the American government is unquestioningly reported by any outlet other than Fox News. The double standards are the problem. No neutrality or care for actual facts, only bias and sensationalism.
The NYT is currently whitewashing a terrorist who tried to murder Jewish infants so I think they're as much rum as the rest of the press. Never mind their fawning obituary for the Ayatollah.

If it wasn't so serious, it would be almost funny how ridiculously slanted Western media coverage is.
The Guardian publishing a piece slandering Gail's bakery purely for being Jewish-founded and explicitly defending and implicitly encouraging Kristallnacht-style attacks on Jewish businesses tells you everything you need to know about the credibility and morality of the press.
Not that social media is any better, of course, considering someone on twitter blamed Pakistan bombing an Afghan hospital on Israel.
We're surrounded by lies and propaganda and integrity and truth seeking have gone completely out of the window. Its horrifying but I really don't know what can be done about it.
Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, all "sides" of an issue will have people spreading biased and false information in their favour, but there's really no denying how much space and credibility is unduly afforded to one particular side in this issue (and others).
