I just find a lot of people assume Iran is another middle east country like Afghanistan or Yemen. Which is really rude Iranian people are highly educated , they had an entire culture before the country turned to Islam, they speak farsi not Arabic . Only 40 percent of the population even identify as Muslim according to surveys , 8 percent are atheist and 22 percent have no religion a good percentage of the Muslim population are secular. Iran is a very different kettle of fish in the middle east and I suggest people supporting the regime read about what their people actually want and their beliefs.

Yep, I was on another thread about an anti-semitic incident (the one in Oz) and I was talking about my experiences here in the UK and how the landscape has changed for Jewish people/Jews and making the point that it comes mainly from two camps and has increased...one person stated that (in a nutshell) that Jewish people dont pay for private security at schools because they are experiencing increased anti-semitism but because they are rich and dont want their children to be kidnapped. Weirdly, im seeing all the same names on that thread too!
Think they (on other threads) who likes to use and quote 'factual answers' from AI chatbots, needs to do a search for 'does racism exist in the far left.'
However, this is what I found...
Apart from the anti semitism, haven't we also seen shining examples of all the other points.
- Minority groups have to think their way.

It's also rude to think that countries like Afghanistan, Iraq or Yemen didn't have any history or culture before becoming muslim and that for some reason they are dumber than Iranians. Trying to oppose populations in this way is a very tit thing to do.
Btw, secular Iranians don't all share the same opinion about the war. Some like Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe who spend years in Iranian jail and cannot be accused to have any love for the Iranian regime is afraid that the war might strenghten the regime. But I guess that doesn't fit with your view of what a modern Iranian woman should think.
It’s sad how many countries in the Middle East and Africa, even parts of Asia, lost their culture after being colonised by Islam.
I mean you could say the same for a big part of Africa that got colonized by Europeans and brought missionaries with them, while demonizing local religions and culture...
In reality, it's wrong to believe that a dominant religion like Islam or Christianism completely erased local cultures. Muslim countries still have their own specific cultures. Even inside countries like Turkey, traditions and culture change a lot depending the region.
I agree, but you mentioned Islam so I was concurring with you.
As for the other part I do think they have their own culture but some aspects have been erased or are heavily frowned upon, from talking to people from those regions.

There are lots of smaller cultural/ethnic groups in the Middle East which have been overwhelmed by Arab/Islamic colonisation and are often persecuted by fundamentalists. Not just the Jews and the Persians, but the Druze, Yazidis, Kurds and many more.
A lot of Westerners view the Middle East as entirely Muslim/Arab and therefore homogeneous, which is far from the truth. As we've seen from this war, even Muslim states and groups are not automatically aligned with one another.

Well, knowing how utterly stupid many of the 'usual suspects' are being, would not be surprised if that was the general attitude!
In their pathetic game of 'Minority Top Trumps', LGB comes rather low in the list nowadays - especially when against other groups.
