I can’t believe she acts as if she’s all for diversity and inclusion and then starts off with her GAP YAH video talking about ‘chavs’. Classism isn’t a good look, Jade

And not to be petty, but isn't it strange that she kind of stole her rommate's jeans jacket? The rommate forgot the jacket in SF and I could understand not wanting to pay for international shipping to Vietnam (I think). But now that they are both in Europe she could give it back. She brought it with her to Berlin, but the rommate is going to London, so why not leave the jacket to her family and find a way for her friend to have it back? It just seems strange. Even stranger because she keeps using it, idk. Maybe it's just me! Also I find the jacket kind of ugly, but that's another story!

And her cover letter:

Screenshot_20200916-234605__01.jpg

It's just really clunkily written? Don't know, would expect someone who's finished first year to be writing better than that. It's definitely not an example to be following.

Bonus Jade points for the sentence: The opportunity to ... experience the fascinating culture of Japan, is an honour.

Hello! I used to watch Jade quite a lot, and I really enjoyed the majority of her study related content when she was doing her A-Levels, but she became insufferable during her gap year and subsequently when she joined Minerva (which absolutely feels like a scam, I won't lie, but I've seen someone say their friend has done well for themselves so perhaps it isn't as bad as first imagined). Her dad being a part of Juice Plus definitely explains why she has such a 'You can do anything you put your mind to attitude' which can be really great, I know I've found it useful at times, but obviously she fails to mention that you can also do wonderful things when you're exploiting people. She just seems like a really delusional, privileged white saviour who acts like she is a fountain of knowledge for all things.. does that make sense? She acts like she knows everything about the BLM movement, revision techniques and general injustices, when she is very obviously just a white saviour. I find the fake positivism really draining and it just makes me think that she is actually really uneducated on serious topics, but knows she needs to speak on them because she is in the public eye

I’ve also never got the impression that Jade and Eve are that close. You always see Eve with the Molly/Liv/Lydia/Lizzie group, and Jade seems closer with Ruby, Jack etc.

I feel like Jade will constantly be trying to prove that Minerva is soooo much better than Oxford.

So funny to think of Eve and Jade meeting up and Jade hyping up her scam University. Eve would surely not stand for it!
Not an Eve fan myself but if I had to listen to jade big up Mickey Mouse uni and try and say it’s on oxfords level i couldn’t do it

Not really a surprise that they end up prioritising partying/going out over some of the work. Ending at after say 7PM and then going out just doesn't seem that appealing.
There's a Minerva manual I read once and they have an alcohol ban in all their accommodations, regardless of the drinking age of the city you're in. I don't reckon much partying goes on.

Imagine being made to stay up til 10pm to do a class and you can't even pour yourself a fat glass of wine to recover afterwards. Criminal.

I’m dying at her cover letter. amazing how she achieved such good grades at A levels but her writing is so appalling.

+ Lol at her internship advice video when she got an internship at Minerva that I assume was targeted at its students? She also says to contact people through Instagram about internships and ~informational interviews~ And send them articles. What an actual pest she must be, contacting people about jobs through their Instagram (unless you’re a social media influencer) is so unprofessional? Cringe. This girl hasn’t got a clue.

So funny to think of Eve and Jade meeting up and Jade hyping up her scam University. Eve would surely not stand for it!

You can tell she doesn't have an A Level in English Language. That letter and CV are shocking.

It’s sad if she’s still so fixated on this years later, in the scheme of things the uni you go to doesn’t necessarily make that much of a difference imo , I know both people who went to amazing unis with “worse” jobs than those who went to very mediocre ones and vice versa
Thing is if she had gone to Bristol or another uni, I think she would have gotten over it, purely because she was likely to have met other oxford rejects, and become fully immersed into uk uni life but nooo she’s soo different and Minerva is the only place that’s sooo exclusive

There’s a reason so many uni students are complaining about virtual classes and struggling with mental health issues more than ever. It’s because it’s clearly an inferior experience to in person, lecture-based. Personally I cannot learn by very interactive classes like Minerva looks to have, being ‘colour-coded’ on how much I talked in an online class would be a nightmare for me. If it works for her, then fine. But it’s a model of education that obviously doesn’t work for everyone and shouldn’t be looked on as “superior” to traditional lectures and considered the “future of education”. No wonder their primary course of study focuses more on the humanities and business, less on STEM subjects.Besides that, all universities strive to teach critical thinking, so what about Minerva makes it so special? I think they’ve been told that since it’s soooo selective and new that they’re just really special and they’ve been taught to have moral superiority over all of us that opted for a normal university, I'm sure they're just not all as smug about it as Jade is. The supposed diversity also looks pretty hollow when you consider they all pretty much some from the same socioeconomic background, as in their parents can afford all the costs. I can absolutely see Jade just continuing on as an influencer trying to "motivate" people, or opting for some lifeless corporate job after she's done with minerva. I kinda wonder why she's even bothering to get a degree at all.

Jade's in this article about minerva

"Minerva’s appeal, Bowler says, was its practical teaching style. “It’s so different from just sitting in a lecture theatre. You learn as you do, not learn by rote. And I have learned so much more in the past year than in any year of my life.”

You don't learn things by rote in a traditional university so why would she say that? Jade is just showing that she went with the hype and had NO IDEA what a normal university was like. Shes not very smart is she.

Student welfare? Protecting mental health? Nah, let’s shove all our students into tiny cramped accommodation and make them attend lessons late at night. That’s the Minerva Way.

I'd add to that - Completely fails to recognise how rich and privileged she is, usually when going on about positivity

none of this video makes any sense, thete are logical reasons to hate someone (a racist for example) thta have nothing to do with jealousy. she's 100% going to writesome pseudo intellectual self help book
This demonstrates exactly the toxic positivity that Jade loves to flaunt. She perpetuates this idea of not feeling any form of negative emotion, including hate/dislike, when in reality these emotions are what makes us human. It's completely illogical to deny girls to dislike others by writing it off as 'jealousy' because in reality there are so many reasons one may dislike another that have absolutely nothing to do with jealousy. I dislike my friend's girlfriend; not because I am jealous of her but because she's a nasty person who treats my friend poorly.

There are many valid reasons to feel negative emotions such as anger, sadness, dislike, and one of the reasons why I have lost all of my respect for Jade is because of this toxic positivity that she thrusts upon her acolytes; she perpetuates this fantasy world where turning your back to any kind of negative emotion is the way to go, which is simply not the case.
