Years ago I lived in an old pub; Random lights would turn on during the night, things would simply vanish from where they'd been left and the heavy brass taps on the washing machine would be turned off when I tried to start the machine, but I had several bar staff who absolutely refused point blank to enter the bottle store in the cellar after "someone" was outside the door banging the handle up and down; You might think it was another member of staff messing about yet seeing as everyone was upstairs at the time it gives it a whole new aspect.

There were so many incidents at that place though that cannot be explained such as the ghostly figure with his face pressed against the window on a snowy night that the decorators thought was their mate playing games with them - until they chased outside to find nothing there, no tracks in the fresh snow or anything. And there was my small son who told me that an old man came into his bedroom at night sometimes and told him stories. Yes it was bizarre! I found out in fact an old man had hanged himself from a rafter in an old outbuilding which might explain some things, however it does not explain why I still have stuff vanishing and reappearing in plain sight days later after I've turned the house upside down looking for said item because I have moved home four times and still I have my old friend with me - even in another country! He is obviously mine because looking back similar stuff was happenning before I left the family home to get married but I'm not bothered nor troubled by him at all :)

When I saw my Mum she was as real as the last time I'd seen her before she became really poorly. I sleep badly anyway waking up sometimes every hour through the night but on the night I saw her I woke with a start to see her standing beside my bed in her nurse's uniform with that serene smile on her face. It was surreal but it did come as a reassurance that she was OK and that my 'father' had been sent packing so he would not be ruining her existence there as he'd done to Her Life;

I have BTW only recently been told that my second cousin is a practicing psychic medium so I ought not to be too surprised that I have these spectral 'guests' of my own :)
I love your stories, I swear I've read your mum's story on another forum before 🤔. I'm glad to hear your mum's happy and in peace, now. That ghostly face against the window sounds horrific. I love me a good ghost story and read before about a few men who worked in the underground parts of a pub somewhere in London (not the cellar but actually underground the pub). They'd been told all the other workers quit as they couldn't handle how haunted and creepy it was and the workers laughed it off and the "ghosts are bull" usual talk until one day they saw a pair of legs walking nr them with those old fashioned (1800's I think?) Stockings that go up to the knee that men wore. It could all be fiction but made for great reading for sure!

I've not shared the anecdote about my Mum visiting me before; It was a relatively recent event for me so I guess theres another daughter out there who has had the same experience :)

I'm such an idiot 🙄 I just looked up in this thread and that's where I saw your other post about your same experience with your mum posted on Friday.

I had a strange experience last year. My father had been an absolute b to my mother their entire married life, he was so horrible that he did not even visit her once in the care home in the 6 months before she died despite it only being ten minutes from home, but as soon as she'd gone he was of course filled with guilt and remorse for everything he'd done over 65 miserable years.

In the event he died suddenly 4 months later to which my only thought was that he'd be straight back there on my mum's case making her existence hell again like he'd done since the day she stupidly married him, however the night after he died Mum came to me, all smiles & wearing her nurses uniform (the job that kept her sane) and all she said was "Don't worry about him ruining my peace - THEY wouldn't let him in!" I had to laugh because theres him thinking he was going to get forgiven for being such a **** to her and me and in the event he didn't get past the Gatekeeper :)
I knew I saw it somewhere. I found the post very heartwarming to read, from personal experience with family members ❤

Can’t remember if I’ve posted here or not. We had a poltergeist in our first home, it was built on a very old burial ground. My mum said I would sit in my bed talking to someone (about 4/5yrs old) and there was no one there. Things would go missing then re appear in the middle of the floor.

In my parents current house, the previous owners husband died there. (She didn’t say until they purchased it) and he was AWFUL when they first moved in. The electrics went one night, they called a friend out who is a sparky and he said there was nothing wrong with it. Then it just worked again.
doors have slammed, etc and music has been playing here or there, lights on in the kitchen extension when he came down in the morning knowing he’d have turned them off. My dad got so annoyed with it he got back one night and went ‘IF YOU DONT SORT YOUR tit OUT, I’M GOING TO THE VICAR AND HE’LL SORT YOU OUT! You can live here but be respectful!’
And it all stopped. My dad was quite serious as he asked me to Google about exorcisms etc and was about to call the local church. Think even now he still does the odd thing but it calmed down.

Someone please tell me why I’ve started reading this thread just before I go to sleep. I’ve only read the first page and I’m scared as tit but I need to keep reading.

When I worked in a pub you would always hear someone calling your name when you were the only one there or in that part of the building. Sometimes you would see a figure walking down the corridor and the cellar had an awful tense atmosphere. We all experienced the same things working there.

I lived in a haunted house. It completely changed my view of the world/spirituality and I now believe people when they tell their weird ghost stories

It's not a ghost story but I get very vivid premonitions. I also smell things very strongly on my left hand side.
I know it sounds bonkers. I've only ever told my husband.
Years ago I went to a psychic and most of it was meh however she mentioned my best friend who had passed tragically (before Facebook etc and I was now living in a different country) she knew exactly how he'd died and was so specific. He was a heavy smoker.
The next day on 4 different occasions I had an extremely strong smell of cigarettes. I was a teacher at the time so assumed it was coming from the girls toilet. I went on the hunt and none of my colleagues could smell it and this happened at home too.
It drove me mad until i remembered the psychic reading the day before.

Now I really really follow my gut, my premonitions and the smells I get (I'm fully aware i sound barking mad)

Not too spooky. Years ago my husband and I bought a clock, put new batteries in and hung it up. That night our cat Persia got very sick and we had to make the decision to put her to sleep the next day at 9:16 am. During the week that followed I kept having to reset the clock as it kept stopping, put new batteries in and all, nothing worked.

When I spoke to my husband about it we both realised with a shock that the bloody clock kept stopping at 9:16, the same time Persia passed away. We ended up just leaving it, it was a bit weird but no big deal.

Fast forward a few months, I met a psychic whilst on a murder tour. I asked her what she though of the clock as I had people telling me it was evil and I must get rid of it. She said to me that she felt like it was Princess - my cat's nickname- and don't get rid of it because it was our little girl showing us she was safe and ok.
I had full body goosebumps, she was spot on with the nickname and I hadn't told her the cat was female. We still have the clock up in the wall, still at 9:16.

I've heard psychics saying cats/dogs/pets come through to thank their owners for loving them 😭
I definitely believe animals have souls.

I've got one, sorta strange. I had one of those old thick TVs with the glass screen, tube tvs? for playing old game consoles (pre HDMI ones) and one night i awoke and someone's face was in the screen, the face of a woman.

It was so bleeping weird.

Ooh I got shivers when I read that! I had an old tube TV that would just turn on by itself. Hated that thing, haha.

I can't sleep right now and this gave me a shiver through my body 😬

When my mum was about 3 or 4 her dad was visiting a friend. They were all farmers and this friend lived In a thatched cottage.
Very old etc
As my mum was playing on her own looking at the floor she saw a pair of old fashioned boots (later in life knowing they were those old fashioned Victorian Lace up boots)
My mum was very frightened she knew ,even at that age that something wasn't right.
The feet in the boots moved and wiggled and my mum started to look up and there were a pair of legs. She was so scared she couldn't look further.
That has stayed with my mum as if it were yesterday. She was only able to tell the story in her 30s

Creepy right?

And this one is totally less scary. I had a dream once where i met 'myself' from somewhere else, and she told me I was her but from a different life, really odd. But she gave me some nice words and said i'd be back again and again, and that life goes on and on. And this life would improve. And it did get better!

Not a ghost story, but a spiritual experience i guess.

Just like I had in that pub! The place was demolished twenty or so years ago and is now a block of flats which makes me wonder if the spirit is enjoying lots of fun fiddling with all the washing machines and playing with the lights in there now :)

Like I also said, my son would have been about 3 at the time and he told me on several occasions about the old man who visited him to tell him bedtime stories and then there were all the items that would completely vanish then reappear in the most obvious places possible days later. And yet it still happens despite my having moved house a number of times since then! I just concluded and accepted this entity is Mine and has chosen to be with me, he is my Guardian I suppose :)

I’m no way a psychic but I often see or feel things that are going to happen. The last two have been spot on. I had the most calming feeling that my SIL was going to fall pregnant in the October and she did and then I could see them standing outside of a three story house by June. They are moving into the exact house this month that I could picture them outside of. Both were bang on and totally unplanned for them. I can also see a little girl with them (they have boys) so we will see about that one.

Pubs are definitely a place for it, i think because they’re often so so old and left untouched for the most part. My dad used to live in the pub Jane Seymour (Henry VIII) was either brought up or died in (not sure which!) and he said it was the most horrible place ever. It was near Southampton way, but he said the entire year they lived there it was miserable and many weird things went on. Seymour arms I think it was called!

I live in Australia, we just don't have all the really ancient pubs and buildings like in the UK. I'd love to explore all those types of things but I think I'd be pretty scared at the same time.

Some of the very older buildings are really spooky. Ghost tours are very popular in pubs, there is one in the south west called the Ram Inn I believe which is supposed to be very haunted! I think it’s just the look of them too, all the wonky brick and dim rooms.

My uncle has a pub and part of the brickwork is early 1800 and it amazes me everytime I see it to think every thing it has withstand, how many people have touched it etc.

@grumpycat Yes, that's what I love! I went to an overnight ghost hunt on Halloween a few years ago, an abandoned Lunatic asylum called Aradale. So creepy but I loved it. The old mortuary was a weird atmosphere, so many orbs in every photo. It's only about 150
years old, I think. Just a baby compared to what you guys have.

Wow, I’ve heard many stories about asylums but never been brave enough to tour one! The spiritual world makes me so curious but I’m not very brave! If you ever make it across to the UK, definitely have a look for some ghost tours!

I have a weird thing at my house that my speaker will often play Spotify by itself. Not sure how but my acct will randomly start playing music from my phone and connect to the speaker. I’ve changed my password, the wifi etc but it still happens 😂😩
