I really like my 3yo pre school, and he loves it, but they have really pissed me off today. We had a termly review and she was all proud and said how he can say 2 words (big cup) together. But he says sentences at home? Not proper full on sentences, but can string more than 6 words together. They have referred him to speech and language, and while he is behind, I don’t think he needs it. They were shocked at some of the things he said at nursery this week, but he’s non stop talking at home. I don’t think he’s a big talker at school, but he’s a lot better than where he was even 3 months ago. And because I’m such a quiet person, I just nodded in agreement, but really should have stood my ground

Tell them you don’t want it? The wait list is that bloody long he’ll be at school by the time they see him anyway . I wouldn’t worry about it

Hope they’re feeling ok, it’s such a worry when they’re ill. My daughter has been unwell with flu symptoms since last week, she was getting better but now keeps getting a temperature throughout the day, flushed cheeks and saying her ears hurt. What’s mini pillows symptoms?

Well to be honest, she's been almost constantly ill with the typical cold and flu symptoms for like the last 6 weeks so at first I just assumed she had another viral infection!
I remember on Sunday she came and cuddled with me on the sofa and actually started to doze off, which NEVER happens unless she's very poorly so that was a bit of a red flag. Then on Monday she was really off her food, I mean she's always been fussy, but she literally went the whole day on a mouthful of porridge and a yoghurt. She was just very grumpy and developed a bit of a cough at bedtime and felt a bit warm, though she never actually spiked a fever according to the thermometer. Then on Tuesday she kept telling me her ear hurt and would only eat smooth, cold things like ice cream. Looked in her mouth and her tonsils were HUGE. She also had a really blotchy slightly spotty face, which looked bloody awful. I sent a photo of her face and throat to the doctor on the Wednesday and that, along with their description, led them to diagnose scarlet fever and prescribe amoxicillin.
We actually took her in on the Thursday for an appointment regarding something else, and the nurse confirmed she had the rash on her tummy and back and it was scarlet fever - I have to say, it wasn't what I was expecting. It felt like goosebumps rather than 'sandpaper' and wasn't bright red enough to be noticeable so I thought maybe they were wrong!
Nothing has been confirmed with a throat swab or anything but they seem pretty sure. The thing is, that other than the rash, it presents the same as most other viral illnesses so I would never have thought anything of it had it not been for the fact she had the blotchy face. She's doing loads better though, living her best life as she's on a diet of ice cream, jelly and yoghurt because those are the things we can hide amoxicillin in! haha

I feel awful today as she’s been so clingy and upset the last few days and I’ve got nothing done. It’s not her fault but she honestly is so cranky. She’s fine in herself to be playing but she needs constant attention and I can’t deal with the constant demands to play for her. Like no I’m not making your animals talk or jump around, I’m knackered myself

I feel like my little boy has just been sick on and off since September. first we got covid, then just cold after cold. Last week he was off with impetigo and had a patchy sore face but was fine within himself, today he’s complaining about a sore throat and has a cough. he’s napping at the min and is just dead mopey not wanting to get up. i get it all as well I’ve got the sore throat he’s moaning about!

Also mine is constantly I’ll lately he’s so croaky and chesty. Can’t laugh without turning into a coughing fit. Temperature the other night. Green snot !! Poor thing it’s awful . He was coughing in my face at 6am

This was my 3yo last week and 11 month old this week. You want to spend all your time giving cuddles and making them feel better, but you also have a million and one things to do, and it isn’t practical. Which is probably why I’m now ill because I’m so rundown and exhausted from the sheer stress of the last 2 weeks. I have never slept so much as I have the past 2 days. I’m even sleeping through the kids waking up crying (which is really not like them) and being told about it the next morning because Mr B is shattered 🫠

Disclaimer - I’m 34 weeks pregnant recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes and he has 3 nights out planned next week. We couldn’t go out last Saturday for my birthday as she wasn’t well and didnt want to leave her/infect anyone else, and he didn’t get me a present from my daughter. My sympathy is a bit low

i feel you! My daughters had cold, cough, bad stomach bug, and now she’s got a snotty nose again. It’s just the time of year and it makes me so annoyed cos if she doesn’t sleep well , I don’t either hope everyone is ok xx

I’ve just remembered there were 70 kids off school just on one day this week at my 6yo school, all with temps. It’s so worrying. My greatniece reacted so badly to scarlet fever, and I’m actually petrified of it!

4yos school sent her home with a letter today saying she needs a costume for the nativity by Wednesday morning If I wouldn't have asked about a costume, I wouldn't have known either! Only because I overheard her tell another parent!

I think it’s shocking parents have to fork out for a costume!! Its not your issue if they want to hold a nativity especially with the rising cost of living and bills.. the last thing you wanna be pissing around for is a costume

Like we have time or anything to even hand make one anyway?
She's an angel so it says she needs an angel costume, white tights, white shoes, wings and a halo!
Of course all of amazon are sold out of her size.
Found a white fairy costume on Argos and that'll have to do. Had to buy her a halo, £7 for that as its the only one that will arrive on time.
Not buying shoes. She's got some silver sparkly ones. She can wear them. Even though it says white

It did make me laugh. I mean she’s been coughing into my eyeballs so I feel like he’s had the better deal They’re terrible aren’t they. I said to him not to be me a birthday present from him as he was asking me what I want and I couldn’t face another task. But I didn’t remind him to get one from her. He did feel bad about it. Hope your little ones are feeling better now

Handmade can be more expensive nowadays. We don’t all have a craft room and sewing kit with a stock of materials.

Pillow case, tinsel attached, tinsel halo. It's how we did it when the eldest had his nativity when he was 4 they were the handmade instructions school gave us

That’s so much! At my sons nursery they sent home costume ideas, but it was just repurposing existing clothes really. My son is a shepherd which just has to be brown trousers and a brown top. Very easy to do.
They also said if you can’t do a costume don’t worry and they’ll sort it.

I don’t get it. It happens every year. Why can’t they just buy the costumes and then give to the next child?! My 6yo hasn’t had any dress up days yet, but last year it was knights/princesses/dragons, so had to find him something. I’ve also seen kids in other years go in as cave men/women. Fml
