Italian barbers used to regularly use fire on their customers hair. Apparently it seals the hair against split ends.

I’ve seen a few turkish barbers/hairdressers that still do this.

i’ll stick to scissors for my hair cuts🤣

Not just Italian, singe-ing hair was considered normal years ago
Wait really?! Did you try it? I’m dying to know more

Yes!! I saw a man getting a shave in Turkey and then a flame was used around his nose and brow bone to give him extra polish. I want to see someone who likes to micro plane compare the services 😆

I would totally consider getting my ends seared closed! If I don’t baby the heck out of them they start splitting immediately after my hair cut!

As a child hair was singed after a cut, supposedly to stop the hair bleeding

Having seen the strip that they attach to, it’s Rawl plugs, not raw plugs 🤦🏻‍♀️

When I was a child (many years ago) I had very curly hair and when I had it cut it went straight - my grandmother said it was because it had not been singed and had "bled" and it has been straight from that day

The source of all my hair woes comes down to being too stingy with the product!

I've always wondered how people manage it 😂 I've never used any products or even water 😂
Water is of no help to my hair, I worked out that much! I went in today with the products and it felt foreign using so much but my wavy hair loved it. Absolutely loved it 💯

the different names people use for woodlice depending on where they live always amazes me! i've always referred to them as woodlice, but other names include bible-bugs, cheesy-bobs, chisel-hogs, palmer-worms, monkey-peas, chuggy-pigs, coffin-cutters, sow-pigs, chucky-pigs, grammer-pigs, granny-zows, pigs-lice, roly-polys, nut bugs, johnny-grumps, slate-cutters, cheese-logs, billy-bakers, armadillo-bugs, penny-pigs, dampers, hardy-bugs, daddy-granfer and pellet bugs.

equally, my bets friend at primary school used to happily EAT woodlice. like, she'd purposefully catch them as a snack. it was grim.
I call them granny greys

Mr Minky's swim was cancelled today because 'some kid shat in the pool' 🤣

So today I learned it's not just a case of fishing the tit out and everyone goes on their merry, tit free, way. There are chemicals and lots of health and safety rules to follow 😂 never really thought about it before but there you are.

When we lived in Spain we once had to empty the pool after my niece did an almighty one when she was ill and it cost us a fortune in clean water.
My neighbour used to tell her grandkids if they did anything at all in the pool the water would turn purple and they would never be able to go in it again - it did work as we used to see them getting out to go to wee which was more than most kids did.
