Have you never seen Patriot Games? I love Sean Bean but he cannot do accents, they seem to have given up making him now. I can just imagine the conversation "Sean Bean, er yeah, don't worry about it pal, Sheffield accent will be fine, cheers "

It was OK, not a patch on Kin or Gangs of London, which is what I was expecting but still watchable.
Agree some of the casting/accents were questionable only one of the female roles is played by someone born in Liverpool (Melissa)
Losing Stephen Walters so early on was a big mistake, he’s a fantastic actor.

Thought the actors playing Bonehead and Banksey did a fab job and there is something about James Nelson Joyce I’ll be googling what else he’s been in and watching them now.

Paul Usher is a great shout by the way. Maybe next series he could be cast.

i just finished binge watching the whole thing and same

i’m an outlier on this thread though in that i was kind of rooting for jamie michael is FIT AF and a more compellling character but he lost me the minute he rammed the car and pulled the gun knowing melissa and the baby were inside (and then tried to take the higher ground). i guess it’s interesting in terms of their moral code though, especially when banksy was so outraged about what the amigos did too.

i thought diana was miscast too. i get she was deliberately styled and everything to look different from the others but her character made no sense to me. again michael is FIT AF but i truly didn’t get why she would stay with him.



omg yes (he was great but also slightly miscast i thought, the actor has such a gentle aura/sweet face that i couldn’t take it seriously when he was in the background of scenes in his little polo shirt and sad eyes)

This is so dumb but I didn’t realise the mixed race boy was his son until late in the series lol. I don’t know what on earth I thought their relationship was with him just following him around every episode haha

As someone from Liverpool who is from the area it happened the acting in Little boy blue was spot on, the way James played James Yates was to an actual T. I love to see scousers praised for their acting rather than bad mouthed. Fingers crossed for a series 2

James Nelson-Joyce is amazing in everything he played. When he done James Yates in little boy blue he got the scumbag spot on. I can’t see Jack McMullen as anyone other than Finn Sharkey Boss series though, hope they bring out a series 2

Ahhh just binged this and I am now obsessed with JJN, also Banksy is a vibe, feel like I know him but can’t place him? Agree about Diana being misplaced, I get she’s meant be to be different but it felt a little too different? Also 18M from meeting to IVF is rather extreme!

JJN and Darcy who plays Melissa are both great in a thousand blows, worth a watch.

I ended up binge watching it and it wasn't too bad, I left realism out of the picture pretty early on. Wish they wouldn't have gone for the typical trope of nobody liking the bosses son though. Seems to be a theme in loads of Gangster films and series. It kind of reminded me of a mix of Love/Hate and Kin.

I started watching A Thousand Blows to get my fix after This City Is Ours…but it’s not quite doing it for me. Any other suggestions for shows he’s in?

Have you seen time on BBC iPlayer? Jamie, Bonehad & Ronnie are all in that too.

Yes I think they have, I saw a comment on another site saying they split up a couple of months ago, so being a nosey cunt I looked on insta and as you say, there’s no trace of them together, I bet he won’t be single for long

I’ve went right off him - purely because of the way he’s coming across after splitting up with his ex. Hooking up with someone right away and now posts like these he’s behaving like a child

I think the actress who played Diana was casted wrong she couldn’t really do the Scouse accent. She didn’t look the part and whoever ever styled her do a good job they made her look more 1950s than Scouse gangsters moll
Also no scout scale who is with a drug dealer actually works they are the ones who are fronting sunbeds shops and beauty and aesthetics clinics

I agree, her clothes didn't seem to fit the character and yes, she needed a job to rinse the money too

Really enjoyed this though agree with the poster above that it’s not as gripping as Kin or Gangs of London. Gives me my crime/gangster fix though. I can’t work out if I find Michael extremely attractive or a bit odd looking. I also read (in the Corrie thread I think) that Jamie looks like a young Kevin Webster and now I can’t unsee it
