Maybe a Wal Mart or local grocery let him set up a little booth right outside the doors, where he can ask people that are walking in for a little follow/subscribe.

I don't get the point of buying followers. At the end of the day it just makes your engagement look worse, and companies are slowly getting more wise to the importance of engagement vs just total followers.

Totally measures up. That's the engagement people with those numbers get. Just look at BLAB. On their way to 95K and usually a comment or two on their vids.
If he isn't buying followers, which is a big if, it really means bugger all if his engagement and youtube views don't go up.
I think with insta there are also so many companies, spam accounts etc on there it's hard to work out how many people are genuinely engaged with your content. Plus people just like theme park pics, doesn't mean they invest more than a like with you. Followers really don't mean as much as maybe they did a few years ago.
