My beautiful dog, Tosca, died this morning. She was 13 years 11 months. She was my best friend. I don't know what I'll do without her.

I'm a lurker (I only have cats now) but I really wanted to offer my condolences.
Losing a pet is one of the most difficult things to go through, especially when they're older as we know them so well.
I've found that it doesn't get any easier but you don't get better at coping with it.

Tosca looks like a little sweetie-pie too.
Sending much love from Down Under ❤ 🐾

Thank you. Some people just don't get why it's so heartbreaking. When people used to find out she was a rescue, they'd often say "Oh, you saved her life" and I'd tell them that actually she saved MY life at that time.

Just realised the typo. Ugh.
You do get better at coping. I'm a goose.

As I said earlier I love lurking and admiring all the lovely dogs. Where I live has a huge dog population, I know a few of them by name now and my next door neighbours are happy to let me bother their dogs if I need a pooch fix.

Omg, it's finally letting me upload!

Please ignore the awful state of the grass 😅 She's had a great day playing in the pool and drying herself in the grass 😂

This is it. Non dog lovers don't understand this but both me and my husband have said our girl saved us. We were going through an awful time where we were living, we were just constantly depressed about everything and then she came into our lives and made everything brighter and less than a year later we had moved and are in a much better place! They are honestly angels sent from Heaven.

The only dog I've ever had, Mister P. When my husband was on afternoon shift I always felt so safe with P around.

Our girl runs away from flies and barks and hides from solar powered lights outside so I'm not sure I feel safe with her... But I'd definitely lay my life down for her even if she wouldn't do the same 😂

@Tretps29 @MaineCoonMama they're gorgeous 😍

Mine is scared of pumpkins 🎃 🤣 I mean they are very scary
Mine loves pumpkins! Before it's carved, I've caught her rolling it around the floor several times 😅.

When we light candles on the winter, she's fine if they're in the living room but if they're in the bedroom she does not trust it. Will not rest, stares at it and occasionally growls 😂.

What I'd do to have the mind of a dog for a day.

Our dog, he’s like a big toddler, just turned 5 in April.
Aww, his little face 😍

I'm so glad you found each other, and for at least part of her life she was truly loved. The love of a dog is so special. Sending you lots of love ❤

I love how they can be so scared of random things. The other week it was bin day and it was a bit windy so our neighbours empty wheelie bin had fallen over and Daisy our pup was literally growling at it. As soon as I righted it she was fine, but whilst it was on its side with the lid flapping she was not going near it.

Had a knock on door earlier, someone found a dog running the roads, they tried phone number, no reply but address on collar, my oh knew where it was, so I sat outside with dog whilst oh got his truck, what an absolute beautiful friendly dog! I was kissed to death!! More affection than my collie has ever given me! Took her home, was abit pissed cos owner said she's to friendly so will run off, well fence your place off .

Pisses me off when people allow their dogs to run off. That poor dog could have been hit by a car stolen for horrible nefarious reasons or whatever else.

You wouldn't let your kids just run off because they're "so friendly" so don't let your dog. You are literally their whole world, ffs.

I so agree! I've been sat here thinking about it, and have gotten abit angry about it tbh, don't think the owner thinks like we do, it was so matter of fact to him, like it happens all the time?

Quite pissed off with the vet.

Our girl had her boosters this week. Got told she's large and her anal glands smell/leak because she's large. Told to reduce her food.

She gets less than what the bag says. She rarely gets human food (because she has digestive issues so don't want to risk her hurting/having bloody poo), doesn't get many treats and her treats is just her usual dry food anyway because we know it doesn't upset her tummy.

She has two walks a day (if it's not too hot) but we can't walk her for too long because she has hip/back leg issues and the vet told us not to walk her for too long.

I don't understand what else they want? She's 2 and 33kg. She didn't look large, she doesn't get out of breath easily, doesn't struggle when she walks/jumping onto sofa or bed.

Obviously I don't want my dog to be overweight because I think that's cruel. We do out best for her. I don't know what else we can do? We've reduced her food abit like vet said but it feels mean, she's getting 150gish of dry food x2 a day plus a carrot/bit of cucumber for lunch. I feel like a terrible pet parent. I feel like I'm letting her down but I don't know what else to do.

Sorry for the long rambling post that probably doesn't make much sense, I'm just so frustrated.
