Ok, her toe has straightened by itself & she's walked around fine this week, glad we never took up the offer of expensive X-rays to be honest as it would have been pointless extra expense.
Animals recover so quick, always amazes me.
Thanks
Am so glad she's ok, I get you, vets fees are so expensive, I've always try to have metacam here, such a good medicine for dogs.

There was a discussion on the radio the other day about how Vet prices have increased by 60% since 2019.
Around 6 large pharmaceutical companies own most of the UK's Vet practices & they constantly pressure the practices to increase their prices.
We've seen this here, our Vet used to be 2 guys with their own little practice, often they wouldn't even charge for a check-up, but one retired & the other guy ended up selling to a large company, prices shot up.

I know what you mean, we used to have a local vet, good as gold, wouldn't charge for a dew claw etc, we changed vets 3 years ago, over £500 to have our boy neutered (his testicles never dropped, and the thought of him maybe getting cancer) he's also been in for a dew claw, nearly £40! Haven't got pet insurance, we'd get a credit card if we needed it for him.

We don't have insurance either, years ago we had a Greyhound that swallowed a chicken carcass & had to have an operation, but the insurance wouldn't pay.
The bugger never went near the bin again mind you 😂

How strange, years ago my dog ate a chicken carcass too, but unfortunately it gave her pancreatitis, she was quite poorly, but she was nearly 16 when we lost her.

Our guy that ate the carcass got opened up and the sharp bones removed, they obstructed his bowel, he was quite lucky.
He was a daft big thing, walked into lamposts, fell down a drain once too, still miss him a lot. He even had his own settee

@Bobby Chariot, oh my what a handsome boy, was he the last one you lost before you got your girl? I remember you saying you weren't sure about having another dog, but she is gorgeous!

The ban Greyhound racing in Scotland Bill has been raised in the Scottish Parliament, there's currently only one track operating here (in Fife & it's unlicensed, so no records are kept regarding welfare, deaths, injuries etc)
If anyone outside of Scotland would like to send their support, please do.
It's a pre-written e-mail to the UK Minister, you just sign & can opt out of any further info/messages.
Cheers

Does anyone have a dog tattoo? I'm going to get a dog portrait tattoo soon and can't decide if I want it on my leg or arm

How's everyone's dogs coping with this warm weather?
Mine wants exercise, but he's a big black long haired collie! Who also won't drink, I have to tell him to drink, he's always been the same since a pup! At least he isn't wet and muddy!

I don't have one (I want one though). For health reasons I wouldn't be able to have it on my leg but that would be my choice, I think it's look weird on the arm unless maybe inside elbow?

My black lab has her two cooling mats, have the huge fan on her and drinks plenty (although most of it ends up all over her face and head because she drinks so violently, haha) so seems to be doing ok but is still wanting to run about and sit outside. We're lucky because it's much cooler where I am in Scotland now but I do notice her getting warm.

Will your pup take ice cubes? Mine loves them, plays with them, throws them around and then eats them when there's only tiny little shards left 😅

Oh bless her, they still want to have fun in the sun!

Never tried a cooling mat, he's totally ruined and won't use a basket, a sofa or bed is more comfy for him! We do have slate floors so he'll sprawl out on them. I've tried the ice, he's not interested! He's always been the same about drinking since he was a pup, he's coming up for 7 soon, my other dogs never did this!

The place on my arm I was thinking was just above my elbow on the inside or on the side of my leg above my ankle. Not getting it for a while so got time to decide I just wish I could see it in both places to see which I prefer

Ah bless. My girl loves being on the sofa and bed but she's good when she's too hot she'll take herself off to her cooling mat/her own bed.

Honestly wish there was more we could do for them when it's hot, it's unbearable for us so I'd hate to feel how they feel 🥺

Could you upload a picture of your dog and the places you want to see it to ChatGPT and ask it to show you what it would look like as a tattoo? I dunno if that's possible or if it would even be helpful!

Oh that's a good idea. I've been looking at other people's but it's hard to see the location properly as they are usually zoomed in
