I couldn’t figure it out either so I went on forum business and there was an admin post from June saying they’d changed the rules so only long term members can send PMs 🙃 ah well xx
I can send them normally but it says your settings are super private. BTW you should be able to send them if you're over 200 posts. I got over that and still couldn't but asked in the help section and they enabled it.

Thank you, that would be great 😊
Done! Sorry I'm having a brain fart (very long work day) but did you want general gym or 'home gym' exercises? If it's the latter let me know what equipment you've got (e.g. A band, a backpack and some heavy books....)

i did spend a lot of money😣 I initially went with a more neutral shoe (Adidas ultra boost) but they weren’t right for me. Then I went to a running shop to get fitted and they recommended me the Hoka Ones, they cost me just as much as the Adidas ones but were an even worse fit which is why I’m not so keen on spending lots on a 3rd pair😭 I’ll check out the ones you suggested though, thankyou!

I’ve tried a couple of different running socks and they do help up to a point but when it gets to the longer distances that’s when the blisters start. Can you recommend any good ones?
I swear by my 1000 mile socks - i have two pairs and have never had any issues!

I keep getting blisters on the ball of my foot. I have 1000 mile socks which have never caused me an issue before and I’ve just replaced them to see if this made any difference (it doesn’t) my shoes aren’t old/done many miles and I got them properly assessed at a shop. Does anyone know why this is / what I can do to try prevent them? Not only is it incredibly annoying for running it makes just walking around my house hard enough!

Ooh this is a good idea thanks! I actually have a very old lululemon bra with a pocket in the front - not sure why more bras don’t have that.
Nike do an amazing pocket sports bra. I bought one last year, and have since bought it in every colour.

Worth a shot! Last time I saw a podiatrist they mentioned that I had really tight calves & that my knees knock in when I walk which is exactly what the gait analyst told him so I deffo think thats what’s causing the blisters for me.

I’ve been adding in some strength workouts alongside my runs & one leg and weighted calf raises+ daily calf stretches and foam rolls to try and loosen my calves and I’ve definitely noticed a difference and can run longer before I start to feel the blisters forming.
Yes I have very tight calves - nobody has ever formally told me this - but I can feel how tight they are and I have had issues with my Achilles. I’ll try some strength workouts and hopefully I’ll have positive results like you! Thanks 😊

I don’t know much about where to get them but my science of running book recommends bigger heels for certain conditions so you are on the right path.I think there are places online that can assess your needs via video and conversation. I know fluffyglitterbug was looking last week so our resident soon to be french fry might be able to help

Thank you! I've been looking at these since yesterday - I went for the novice but only so that I can build couch to 5k into the start and do a few weeks solidly at 5-10k before I start. Exciting though!
His Novice Supreme is 2 plans put together, a starter 12 week programme that builds up your mileage from 2.5km up to a solid 10km and then when you hit the 10km at the end of the 12 weeks then 18 week marathon training starts.
If you can already run a decent distance without stopping or C25K feels too easy that one might be worth making a start with 😊

Strengthen your muscles instead - a supplement isn't going to help that. Also, see a physio.
Also you might be hyperextending your knees which puts a lot of pressure on the joint. If you can sit flat on the floor with your legs in front of you, and lift your ankles off the floor, that's hyperextension. Try to stand and walk with relaxed knees.

Welcome! I think Couch 2 5k is pretty good in general, I'm not sure how the NHS may differ from the one I know. There are a couple of big jumps that we've discussed in the program above so don't be afraid to add in extra weeks or repeat weeks until you feel comfortable. If you want more personalised programming I'm happy to chat to you more, I've finally finished my uni so have been relaxing by writing programs for people 🤣🤣
That is so lovely thank you! I may take you up on that when I'm more into the swing of things! I have seen from people that they add in extra weeks and honestly that's amazing advice, don't know why I didn't think of doing that when I did it the first time round, some of the jumps between the weeks are hard!

I am exactly the same - the cold on my ears gives me a huge headache. If anyone has any tips, all the hats I own I'm afraid will fall off mid-run, I'd be grateful!! I've been looking for those thick headbands I see people wear that cover their ears, but I can't seem to find them myself
Have you tried a speciality running store? I use buffs or have bought thick knotted headband from kmart which is like a cheap department store in Aus.

Someone earlier posted about tight calves. Was there any resolution. I’m still struggling so much with my tight calves that I’m thinking I’m going to have to give up.

I’ve changed my shoes - which has helped one pain but not the overall tightness. I’ve gone back to the beginning of c25k but can’t get past week 2 the pain is just too much. I’ve beenfollowing guidance from the run experience and others. But looking for anything people have found. Getting quite desperate as I used to love running.

Well I’m dead happy with that time for a 10K, my second fastest 🙌🏼 You can sort of see on my spilts I was struggling to maintain a slower pace at first then I really focused on cadence for the second half and honestly it made it such a breeze. I’ve been following trackclubbabe and she does some great posts about cadence and getting faster, this is the first time I’ve really tried to implement it rather than knackering myself out with long strides. I have never had a 10K where the last km was the quickest. I do need to work on maintaining a pace still but this is definitely progress.

What does everyone like to eat before a long run or on a race day? I tend to run on an empty stomach if it’s just a quick morning run but today I had porridge with banana and a bit of maple syrup about 90 mins before I ran.
Amazing time well done!! 💪🏼

I did 5k this morning in 28 mins, had loads to do today so didn’t have much time to do more. I tend to run on an empty stomach as well, did you find it helped having food in you? Well I had a coffee with oat milk an hour before I ran

There were lots of hills on my run today.

I hate hills. Hills are not my friend 😰
I live in such a flat area so there are not many hills without driving to them - so I must confess this was more of a bridge crossing a road than a hill BUT it was an incline so it counts right?

I would like to run more hills so I can hate them too - but I cant justify driving to some given the lockdown situation!

I entered the virtual London marathon to get my mojo back and already feel like it was a bad idea 😂 gonna start couch to 5k again, go from scratch...8 months is enough time right?!!
Brilliant 👏🏼 Yeah you’ve got loads of time! Also you won’t have to do your long runs through the grimness of Jan and Feb. Have you got a potential training partner or someone to run with?
