It’s amazing how out of touch with reality she is. She’s got zero self-awareness, which would be quite impressive if it weren’t so infuriating.

Or how about can’t afford it, like most people?! Especially seeing as she’s just about to get another baby and have a year off her job, plus she’s moved house… she has no idea what it’s like for normal people!
Her baby will be what? 6 months old, and she has a toddler with separation anxiety. But she puts herself first as always.

Most people expecting a new baby and with a young toddler would be planning how they are going to adjust to a new family dynamic rather than signing up to multiple overseas events

Aren't maternity leave and adoption leave pretty similar? Other than you can start maternity leave earlier due to the physical nature of being very very preggo?

Yup, I think she's just being petty about the name, because she's not adopting. But she's also not giving birth.

Yes, the length is almost identical.

I think the main thing she’s annoyed about that as you say she can’t start it before birth like mat leave & it grates on her that she needs to apply for a parental order through the courts, rather than being automatically recognised as the parent.

Oh yeah it’s definitely something like this. Probably pissed that she’s having to take annual leave or unpaid leave to travel to the states for the birth. Compared to parents who have had to go through the foster / foster to adopt process, what she is going through is an ABSOLUTE walk in the park. Adoptive parents are heroes.

My sister in law in South America has recently adopted 2 boys (2 yr and 5 yr old brothers) from the back country - they had to take leave both of them and are back working already after just 3 weeks and the boys started nursery and school this week. It’s not going seamlessly and she’s exhausted, but she’s doing it and is taking one day at a time. She’s 45 yrs old so it’s a massive shock to the system but she’s been fighting to become a mother since I met her 12 yrs ago so she is just grateful.

I get it’s heartbreaking not to be carrying your own child. I find her tone-deaf to the realities of motherhood after giving birth though and discrediting her surrogate.

I had severe postpartum depression and no help or family around and my husband travelling for work constantly. Racing was the last thing on mind .. the nursery buggy runs were the only runs I could get in…when she was 18 months old mind!

If travelling to do races is her job and she’s after the same length of time off as she’d get for maternity leave (which I agree with, she should, as should adoptive parents) does this mean she’ll have an extended break from posting?

🤞🏻

Wishful thinking I'm afraid. We'll have her moaning about how hard it is, moaning about how she's not able to get out for runs, moaning about her son being a normal toddler, and if she runs out of out of things to moan about.... Oh wait, that won't happen!

Why is she banging on about brands not talking about motherhood when referring to women in running. What does that even mean? Clearly running out of angles.

Newsflash - some mothers run. Some runners become mothers. It's not deep.

I think she needs to stay away from that as she has no frame of reference for returning to running after pregnancy and giving birth, perhaps other than other Instagramers who seem to "bounce back" and start buggy running far to early etc.

Completely. It's very sad that she hasn't been able to carry her own children, but the impact of pregnancy /childbirth on running is more than lack of sleep, childcare conundrums or double buggies. She should keep her focus on nutrition.

Speaking of which I see she put up a story of a door with "GF test kitchen" on it and some 👀eyes with "2026". She's touchy about "adoption leave" but her whole world is so different from the average woman about to have a new baby and juggling toddler, work, relationships, family, friendships... Agree she's really not the right person to advocate for mothers in running. I did my first post pregnancy run 6 months after my first was born, an abroad mara would have been laughable in terms of readiness, cost and child care.

The thing is they are. It's just not with her because she's not what they want, but she won't let it go and is desperate beyond desperate!

I also don’t know what she wants them to show. Running 6 odd World Majors with the associated long haul travel since your son was born is not the typical experience of a post partum runner. She seems to have plenty of people to palm him off to so that she can travel to jog or cheer on relatively minor races.

Even Olivia Tsim who is a really good amateur elite runner and started running 10 miles a day from more or less the moment she left the hospital hasn’t done that.

Exactly. Let’s also face it that fake beans is NOT a good role model or look up to mother as she doesn’t have the normal lifestyle of anyone and therefore is not only unrelatable but also arrogant as duck
