My sister in law in South America has recently adopted 2 boys (2 yr and 5 yr old brothers) from the back country - they had to take leave both of them and are back working already after just 3 weeks and the boys started nursery and school this week. It’s not going seamlessly and she’s exhausted, but she’s doing it and is taking one day at a time. She’s 45 yrs old so it’s a massive shock to the system but she’s been fighting to become a mother since I met her 12 yrs ago so she is just grateful.

I get it’s heartbreaking not to be carrying your own child. I find her tone-deaf to the realities of motherhood after giving birth though and discrediting her surrogate.

I had severe postpartum depression and no help or family around and my husband travelling for work constantly. Racing was the last thing on mind .. the nursery buggy runs were the only runs I could get in…when she was 18 months old mind!

Also complained that the AG1 in the UK is not as nice as the one in Australia. She literally complains about everything even the brands that pay her to promote their products. The boat tour was by the bloody company that paid her entry and hotel

Why does she need to go to a mums and babies workout class when she is on holiday/in the newborn bubble?

Those classes are generally aimed at post partum mums so very low impact, during the day when mums don't have childcare e.g. dad is at work or to help mums build their community locally.

None of which apply to her.

I'm sure everyone coo'd over her few weeks old baby as mostly they recommend waiting 6 weeks post birth for exercise classes. And she has childcare so could workout solo if she wanted to. And she's going home in a couple of weeks.

Any why does she need a new water bottle!?

Feeling very grumpy this evening

Most people expecting a new baby and with a young toddler would be planning how they are going to adjust to a new family dynamic rather than signing up to multiple overseas events

I just get the feeling she’s pissed off the baby arrived early and is trying to have the month she’d originally planned to have before it arrived.

Why is Beans trying to “train her gut” to take on over 60g carbs per hour (ie 3 gels per hour) when she’s going to run 4+ hours anyway? I’m a 4 hour runner and honestly, a gel every 40/45 mins is absolutely sufficient (and way less risky) if you’re not that speedy.

Like, totally get it if you’re trying to blow the lights out with a PB but she’s going to pootle along at best. She loves to focus on all the secondary details and ignore the most useful thing: actually training.

I think I’m going to unfollow as she’s just so repetitively dull now.

God I just saw it - wtf - actual grown women dressing the same and dancing like twats. So smug and annoying - the sort of people I’d run a mile from very VERY quickly.
Also is she ever EVER going to acknowledge how running Sydney, Chicago, Copenhagen half etc all in a few weeks is not only highly unusual for a normal person but also so bad for the planet? I would be too embarrassed to on that many trips… I’d at least SAY something about it. Urgh. She’s my least fav runner on the internet by miles.

Her stories seem like she’s frustrated that the baby has arrived early and disrupted her plans. She puts a couple of posts about the baby and then she’s back to local coffee reviews. Her reaction to the birth is weird

I think she’s massively salty about her adoption leave. The NHS offers a pretty fair adoption leave policy anyone else going through the same journey would have probably saved their annual leave rather than using it to travel the world constantly for run/ walks Or would have prioritised their current child given the separation issues she’s documented

Ooh good spot, looks like it! Would you not be spending your time snuggled down bonding in these early hours? Especially as this is a baby she didn't carry so she's entirely alien to him/her right now (no idea if it's a boy or girl). I mean, who having just had a baby (even if you didn't give birth yourself) is going to be running 3 miles without their baby and posting her coffee shop ratings on insta (seriously, who gives a F about her shitty coffee shop reviews?!).

No shit her kid's having separation issues when she's leaving him to go abroad every week. Also he knows another baby is due and whilst the full impact won't hit him yet it is unsettling for him.
But being able to take your kid on a work trip, and your hubby, and afford a baby sitter when you then have to work, is not achievable financially, or allowed by their employer, for most. It doesn't make it a realistic goal for other mums, it just shows how she's ignorant of her privilege, again.

I cant cope with the crying on Instagram stories about how she has to juggle so much.
And saying content creation is how she makes money.
She could if she wanted to sack off that and increase her hours to earn more money.
I know she is probably dealing with a lot behind the scenes as we all are, however she isn't forced to be an influencer. Shes choosing to do it for the perks of being able to run wherever she wants
I have no sympathy for her, she chooses to do be an influencer when she could have a steady income through the NHS. She chooses to run races that she doesn't have the time or desire to train for. She is failing on all sides as she's spreading herself too thin.

Why is she banging on about brands not talking about motherhood when referring to women in running. What does that even mean? Clearly running out of angles.

Newsflash - some mothers run. Some runners become mothers. It's not deep.

It’s amazing how out of touch with reality she is. She’s got zero self-awareness, which would be quite impressive if it weren’t so infuriating.

Why does she moan about adoption leave but then call it maternity leave in her insta posts? She’s not on maternity leave she’s on adoption leave so why not say adoption leave?
Anyone on maternity leave would not be out running half marathons abroad, she's a bit tone deaf.

It’s giving real “we went to the US for a holiday, and whilst we were there, we also got a baby” energy.

Whilst she doesn’t owe us details about the baby, there’s been nothing along the lines of “he’s finally here, we’re totally besotted, we can’t believe how lucky we are” which is pretty much how every other new parent talks about their child. She doesn’t exactly hide her thoughts about her toddler when he whinges about buggy runs or can’t keep himself occupied for a multi day trip to cheer on a race.
It's also just unfortunate given that surrogacy has a reputation (maybe unfairly in her case) of rich women renting poorer women's wombs. And here's Charlie just continuing her endless consumerism.
