Looking back now , the Queen must’ve been exhausted meeting with Liz Truss the other day. I can imagine her pulling herself together, to perform her duty as monarch. Truly dedicated, right til the end .

I’m not much of a fan of the monarchy on the whole, but I think it’s ok for people to feel upset. She’s more than some random celebrity and it is pivotal for Britain as a nation. I do get annoyed at edgelord mockery of issues of British cultural significance.

All the newsreaders on bbc are dressed in black I heard that they do this when. They know the end is near in preparation if she passes whilst they are on air 😢😢

I’m not a royalist by any means and the monarchy is questionable imo however this is a woman that has stood by her word and reigned her entire life. I respect her massively for that, I think her death is imminent if not already happened - I heard the BBC chimes too. I think 6pm sharp we’ll be told.

There’s some vile people about, you know you’re messed up when even Putin can give a nice heartfelt statement about the Queen. Russian people laying flowers at the British embassy in Moscow too, and yet some of our fellow countrymen can’t even be quiet if they have nothing nice to say!!

I will be in mourning. I'm not going to hide or deny that, you can say it's "cringe" all you like. I'm not a raving royalist with all the plates/memorabilia but as I've said, I've got a lot of respect for her, at my age, I've never known any other king/queen so it's been a constant in my life, and she born the same year as my nan who we lost just over 5 years ago who she makes me think of. There's more to it than it just being "cringe" that people are upset that a 96 year old most of us won't have ever met dies 🤷🏻‍♀️

I hadn’t thought of that I’m mildly obsessed with flight radar 😅
Haha, I'm always on it and adsb exchange too which is a web browser version😅

Where else in the world would you find a 96 year old working right up until 2 days before they pass away. What an incredible woman she was ♥

Please don't let this devolve into a pro or anti monarchy thread. We have space for that on Tattle. Make another thread.

So many odd things happened. Feels like 2019 was the last time things actually felt normal. Been one fucking thing after another ever since march 2020!

The news is full of the Queen’s health and Charles and William have travelled. Prince Philip regularly had ill health until his death. I was hoping she’d last to over 100.

Is it true that there are protocols that would mean her death can’t be announced during working hours?
I'm not 100% sure on that but they did release details on "London Bridge is down" (which is the phrasing that would be used to announce internally) that King Charles, as he would then be, would do an announcement at 6pm that day. So makes it sound like they would time any announcement to be during a day where he could do that. It does seem odd they've all moved to wearing black like they know something is 100% going to be announced today.

Whilst she looked frail on meeting with Liz Truss on Tuesday and had an evil looking bruise on her hand, she still looked like she had a twinkle in her eye so to think she may be dead within 48 hours is a bit of a shock.

I absolutely adore the Queen. Every time I see a photo of her it makes me smile and she always seems to have had a wicked sense of humour. The "nah" to the portrait painter always gets a giggle out of me. Whilst I don't doubt there are period of time where there have been issues about actions, the death of Diana for example, she has stood as a head of state to be respected and has led with dignity. I had a feeling she'd not see the year out and sadly that may now be true.

I’m not a royalist in any way but I’m surprised at how upset I am about this all. It’s quite literally the end of an era, whether it’s today, or tomorrow or another day

Huw just cut off the reporter in Downing Street with "sorry to interrupt you but we have dreadful..." thought it was going to be it but it was microphone issues!

Lovely photo outside of Windsor this afternoon.
The end of an era. I'm not a royalist but she's all I've ever known.
She stuck by her word to serve until her death. I hope she is at peace and hope the family find comfort in all the tributes and the obvious respect and pride so many people in this country had knowing she was our Queen.

I saw the flag at half mast and almost cried. Not even a Royalist but very sad for her family and many in our nation.

No matter what you think about the monarchy, she was dedicated to her role for 70 years. You can't sneer at that.
