What pisses me off about him is how he’s a “premium passenger” and has a “platinum status”, when he’s actually just someone who doesn’t have anything to do.

If you were relying on air travel for work, business or to visit family or a second home then fair enough. But he just wanders around aimlessly and buys a ticket and then what?

I saw the other day that he’s going to actually just fly and be a nomad from this year. But how can he afford it? Would he actually be paid by instagram for having a large following?

I genuinely wonder how these people make money to travel and behave this way unless they are in obscene amounts of credit card debt from churning.

He is a freelance points/aviation/hotel travel writer, and from insta I also wonder if he has a property he rents out. His insta isn't huge but might be big/niche enough for some sponsored stuff too. But he does seem quite small fry compared to others

He does have a flat in Gateshead which he rents out - I saw it on Spareroom and he was wanting a crazy amount for it, considering the location.

I sort of knew him when we were younger and he was the same back then. He lived with his dad and his mother lived miles away so I always assumed she was subbing him and he had a few credit cards on the go. Though I wouldn’t put it past him to still be relying on handouts tbh.

Sounds possible. He comes across as very entitled on Instagram, always wanting/expecting hand outs.

Dan a bottom, hardly a shock 🤣

And by someone I assume he means a hook up as that's a very specific thing to name someone if you've just got the room after them

He's definitely smug. I just came across one of his videos and I don't get how he makes enough money for it to be his full time job.

I couldn't see a thread for Oskar and Dan and - judging by how quiet this thread is - it doesn't seem worth making one. But they're similar - travelling the world and obviously come from wealth. (They're currently doing a "where should we move to?" series of videos, showcasing a different country each time, even though they're constantly travelling, so "home" will just be an apartment where they stay a few weeks a year between trips.) They do have more subscribers across multiple channels, but I honestly think some YouTubers would just be rich kids who lived off trust funds before the internet, whereas the advent of blogging means they can pretend they have careers.

I also think it must be easier for the parents with the money when their friends ask what their children do. Before the internet, they'd have had to make something up, or be very vague - but now they can say "oh my darling son travels the world as a cinematographer, with lucrative sponsorship deals", etc etc because it's better than saying: "well, he doesn't need to work, so he just flies around aimlessly while boasting".

Dan doesn’t really come from wealth. He was brought up by his dad since he was a teenager in a fairly standard area of Durham. I’d say his background was comfortable and almost middle-class. His brother is completely different and has the sort of normal life you’d expect.

But he has always had a lifestyle that didn’t quite measure up with someone whose only income came from a part time job in Bella Italia. Back then I used to think it was bits of money his mother would send him and maybe some credit cards, but I can’t see that still being the case.

I think ultimately he just takes what he can, uses people to his advantage and presents a life on his socials that is nothing like his actual life.

This is exactly the vibe I get from him on social media. He really screams user and fake friend.

Are we talking about the same Dan? I thought the Dan I'm talking about was mostly raised in Sweden.

Sorry I went a bit off topic!

Ah are you talking nonstopdan rather than comedanwithme?
Yeah, he also has another travel channel with his boyfriend Oskar but I couldn't see a thread for them, so I made a comment about them here as they're similar to The Points Guy.

Yeah he's annoying. Flies in luxury but spits his dummy over tiny things that don't meet his incredibly high standards.

He has that subconscious entitlement that comes with many wealthy people who are used to being pandered to.

Nonstopdan seems a bit fake to me but I actually find him a lot more tolerable in the Oskar and Dan stuff. He's less prominent and is also less snarky. Oskar actually comes across as a lovely fella and the more grounded of the two. Their videos on that channel, particularly them choosing a suitable place to live as a gay couple hoping to raise kids, are actually fairly interesting. Some of these areas that would make a lot of logistical sense for an aviation vlogger like Nonstopdan wouldn't respect their lifestyle.

I recently discovered the Oskar and Dan channel, and have been really enjoying it. At first I couldn't event be sure if they were a couple or not.

Dan looked vaguely familiar and I couldn't place it, then in an earlier video they drop comments about nonstopdan. And I realised. I dont like nonstopdan channel at all, hes very snobby, snarky and just doesnt come across well. Trek Trendy come across much better.

In the shared channel dan is watered down, but definitely still has his moments. Oskar however is lovely, seems such a nicer and more relaxed guy. And handsome too which is a bonus. Shame he doesn't have his own channel. He helps balance out the Dan of it all.

Agree, Love the shared channel though, and just have to block out the occasional entitled snob, superiority and snark from Dan.

Surprised both are still only in their 20s though.

Starting to feel entitlement and superiority complex seeping in to the Oscar and Dan videos, usually from Dan to be honest. Slight mean girl vibe

You’re only just starting to notice this? 😂
Ive always thought Dan was a fool on his own channel. But id always liked the joint channel.

I think its the whole 'finding somewhere to live' series thats highlighted it for me
