A man wearing 3/4 length trousers carrying a rolled-up yoga mat under his arm, who I drove past on my way home from work.

Not what this thread is for! I clicked on it to list my latest ick with dh and saw it’s more general, but him taking up capping instead of smoking and even worse holding the vape by clutching it with his whole fist and putting it to his mouth. 🤮

The man who sat on the bench next to me at the gym earlier this week and emitted a loud grunt with every arm raise whilst holding weights, whilst eye bleeping himself in the mirror I just turned the volume up on my earbuds.

There's a guy at my parkrun who is physically fit, clearly works out, 30ish, muscles, no large etc... yet he's the only one you hear as he overtakes. Everyone else keeps their breathing noise to themselves, whereas he passes us going HURRRRRRRR, HURRRRRRRR, HURRRRRRRR like as a groan, as though he's trying to lift a car. Not breathing noise but actual vocal grrrrrrrrrrrs. He's not even the first to finish either, and noone else makes that noise, and he's fit, so it's not like he's there on his first run and struggling with fitness. Bizarre. It sounds so 'put on'.

Male socialisation. They’re perfectly capable of not making a huge racket and a performance when they run or lift weights, but they want to.

It’s the same thing that compels them to shout at the tops of their voices when they sneeze.

There used to be a chap like that at my local parkrun who punctuated the harrumphing noises with rhythmical spitting. THAT was nasty.

Actually, now I think about it, the blokes who spit like footballers whenever they run. Ick. So unnecessary.
