Total speculation but I'd guess that Kendra and Joe see it as a total betrayal. These issues are supposed to be handled 'in house' in their religion (cult) aka covered up without police or CPS involvement, legal proceedings or public scrutiny. See Josh's teenage crimes and lack of accountability before he was eventually apprehended on different charges as an adult.

As others have said they don't really care that Joe's committed a revolting crime or anything about the victim. They just want it brushed under the carpet, a quick private apology issued and instant forgiveness.

The fact that Kendra's dad a) reported it to authorities (a big no-no) and b) extracted a confession from Joe in a recorded phone conversation (?) would be considered completely outrageous.

I'm getting a strong impression that Kendra considers herself a Duggar by marriage and is honouring her husband/headship by taking his family's side and heeding their advice. I don't know about the 'leave and cleave' upon marriage thing in their culture. For the most part JB seems to lose daughters and gain daughters-in-law. Jessa is an exception (they don't seem that tight with Ben's family for example) and I don't know about Joy. She seems to lead more of a Forsyth lifestyle but is still close with her own family. Jinger and Jana live away and are more under their husbands' umbrellas rather than JB's. Jill we know about, I think she'd still be very close with her parents and siblings had there not been the falling out. It's been discussed that she misses their big fundie family dynamic and is gradually easing back in via her mom and sisters but I don't know how that's received in her marriage.

The daughters-in-law submit to their husbands and all the Duggar guys still have strong ties and dependency on JB - employment, church, money, connections. Some of the DILs have relocated to live in NW AR so there's a geographic distance with their own families. None of the married Duggar sons have moved away from JB's sphere of influence unlike some of the Bates sons.

All of this is exacerbated by Joe and Kendra allowing the Caldwells to live in their house/on their land and probably feeling like they did her family a massive favour/have supported them financially for years. Not that that excuses what Joe's alleged/has confessed to doing.

I read on Reddit that the Caldwells purchased an adjacent plot of land (or were gifted it by J&K) and were supposed to build their own modest home on it and move in within 3 or 5 years. That didn't happen and they've made no move to vacate Joe and Kendra's property. There seems to be other historic bad blood with JB dating from COVID times: Mr Caldwell wanting keep the church he pastored open during lockdown, JB saying no for PR reasons, JB being right for once, Mr Caldwell doing it anyway resulting in the Caldwells being evicted from the property they were living in, owned by JB. There's also a rumour that JB wanted Kendra's next youngest sister Lauren (they look alike) as a bride for another son. But due to the Josh scandal Mr Caldwell declined which didn't go down well with JB who's used to getting his own way and had by that time done the Caldwells quite a lot of favours by relocating them to NW AR, housing them, installing Mr Caldwell as a pastor at his church and probably other financial incentives.

I don't think the Caldwells are above reproach, it sounds like they've been relying too much on Joe and Kendra financially and for who knows what else, and trying to benefit from Duggar proximity. While continuing to pop out children they couldn't afford. But so far they appear to have the moral high ground in this situation (I don't know if they have skeletons themselves, fundamentalism appears riddled with it). Their youngest children are of an age that both parents could get out and work. They have a free childminder in their adult stay-at-home unmarried daughter Lauren. Obviously women aren't expected to work in their culture but with two incomes they ought to be able to support themselves.

I'm sure everything has been compounded by Kendra copping charges herself.

Holy crap! It is all kicking off isn’t it. Katie Joy/WOACB is batshit crazy but there is a lot of truth in what she says. Do we think the Duggar girls knew about all of this? That all of their brothers are predators? There is a difference between girls throwing themselves at the boys (depending on the girls ages of course) and what Josh/Joe have done.

She is a nut job. I discovered her when I was going down the rabbit hole a few years ago. All of those screenshots have been probably taken from that pickles facebook page or Reddit, I’ve read some of those rumours before but have no idea where and not on that FB page. She does get some personal info though, was close with Amy Duggar at one point before even Amy, who’s obviously an odd ball herself, figured it out. Katie joy is being sued by someone I think or was anyway. However, I do believe half of what she says at times is true. It’s just not from her own sources 100% of th time as she claims. I follow the Lively Baldoni suit and she actually inserted herself into that as well, she didn’t do a bad job actually and had some new info but also told everyone not to follow the pro Justin R sub, which was idiotic because that’s where most of the info against lively is due to her and Ryan’s insane PR campaigns to cover up their wrongdoings.

I’m never too sure about WOACB as she usually rehashes all her content. But she’ll be creaming herself just now. Most of her info is from Reddit.

I was thinking that when it went it down, bet she hasn’t slept in days with the excitement over it. I thought she was “the” Duggar source when I went down the rabbit hole until I went down hers.

US weekly reporting Kendra arrested for having door locks on the outside. So all the police in Arkansas just gave Josh and some of the others a “stern talking to” but are now arresting her for just doors? Something more to the story I feel. I do feel bad for the girl, her entire life is ruined over this family and religion. She must be having a breakdown. She’s been taught this is “her religion”. Won’t give her a pass though anyway, I don’t believe she’s innocent but it could just be one of the kids talking to Child Protective Services and raising alarm on their blanket training or maybe leaving a minor in charge, they said she was not at the home when they arrived no?

What an absolute nut job! I tried going down a rabbit hole on her a few times now and see why I only reached the tip of the iceberg

She has a disabled child she hates, a husband she uses as a house slave, they both drink but only to excess. She's a plagiarist, a fantasist & a dogshit dumb bitch who makes up complex scenarios based on precisely zero information, publishes what she calls exclusives on stories which appeared in the DM the day before & claims to have multiple inside sources on every reality TV situation.
Primarily those sources are the voices in her head. Though she did speak once or twice to Cousin Amy Duggar before even that pathetic attention ho saw the light. She was also right up Grifty-Ho Blanchard's family's arses till something split up that tawdry band.

But apart from that she's just lovely.

They're IBLP royalty. They will blame the girl. Their "counselling" after an incident of sexual assault follows the Gothard textbook:

If the complainant is a girl:
1: Ask the girl to contemplate what t was she did to tempt the poor man.
2: Tell the girl she needs to address such behaviour so that no other poor male will be forced to sexually assault her again.
3: Ostracise her &/or marry her off.

If the complainant is a boy:
1: Boys are never sexually assaulted. Therefore this is always a lie.

Can I be really stupid and ask what a bond heading is? Did someone have to pay £600k to get him out on bail? Or is the £600k a security in case he doesn't turn up (at which point it is payable?)?

Reddit continues to be full of the emails. He is absolutely sex obsessed. The emails are just constant, emojis depicting blowjobs, boobs etc and just constant chat about how they have sex all the time and trying to persuade her to send sexy pics. It's honestly like teenagers, not a married couple with loads of kids. Absolutely disgusting to read.
