I stopped drinking instant coffee and started getting beans from the farmers market and grinding them and using a cafetiere. Now I just get beans from the supermarket, although I paid about £20 per kilo, I needed to cut on spending.

My fave coffee bean is Mocha . I went through a phase of trying different ones from Pumphrey's but I'd always get some mocha as well .

I’m an absolute coffee fiend my daily go to is just my Nespresso which I also use for iced coffee. Best purchase ever! My favourite coffee is nitro cold brew from Starbucks (I’m basic) I also sometimes use my french press

My friend makes his own coffee brand from his garage and has about 10k worth of equipment!

I love a cold brew but I never ever remember to do it the night before. I see in America you can buy cold brew in large bottles from the supermarket, but despite looking I cant find any pre made cold brew in big cartons or bottles without milk added. Has anyone found any? Especially coming into the warmer weather.

I also really want a Sage Barista Express but I reckon a 4th coffee making implement, 6th really if you include the french press and then moka pot, would probably be the final straw for my very understanding partner.

For instant I like Jacobs, and there’s a particular blend of Nescafé that is especially nice. It’s not the classic or the Gold...I can’t remember what it’s called. Also tried some really nice instant from Aldi, called Amaroy (I think?).

When I have more time I like to use the Bialetta Moka thing. I like Illy and Lavazza for that.

My husband loves Turkish coffee so from the Turkish grocery store we got a bag of that for cheap and the copper pot to make it, which was only about €5.

No offense to Canadians but I’m not keen on Tim Hortons instant or ground.

I bought a Vietnamese phin filter last year, it's a great little coffee maker, sits on top of a mug nicely if you buy the biggest size.

I don't get coffee snobbery! I love my coffee but certainly don't get snobby over it. I've had expensive ones that I've not liked and cheap ones that I've really liked. And I've always got instant coffee in the cupboard when I just want a quick cuppa. Atm we're just using aldis own brand of coffee beans when we make aeropress/cafetiere coffee and I quite like it.

I like chocolate and nutty flavour profiles so if I spot a bag like it in a shop or online that's what I'd usually get.

Cafetiere with Taylor of Harrogate rich Italian ground coffee. Funnily enough, I just posted in another thread how I love the smell of a newly opened bag of coffee.

Can't go wrong with Taylor if Harrogate either - love their lazy Sunday (?) coffee!

I’d rather give money to someone making genuinely interesting, original and useful content about something I enjoy than to a ton of lazy influencers trying to profit off Substack or Patreon and then just writing a crappy newsletter full of affiliate links.

Oh yeah in the grand scheme of people asking for money on the internet there's a lot far far worse. But it's interesting that no matter how well someone is doing, there's always a desire for more money. His patreon alone is bringing in $300k a year and costing virtually nothing.

Anyone else really wanting the Ninja cafe. The fact that even for $500 it's impossible to get one makes me want it even more. A shop here there were people lining up to buy one and the store only ended up getting a delivery of 12 so most went away disappointed.

People are saying it feels a bit cheap which I guess is expected with their price point and build quality so it won't last a lifetime but it might be a good intermediate machine for a few years. Hoffman has yet to review it.

I'm really looking forward to watching James Hoffmann's review of it! The machine definitely seems like one to check out.

Long shot here but any Nescafe Azera drinkers here? Discovered a new flavour called "Grindsmith" which I'm think of trying.

Try the coffee bags, so much nicer and don't take half an hour to drip through. Plus it's easier to brew to your taste. Loads of brands do them now, but I like the Taylors ones. I usually buy then when we go away (when we were allowed to!)

I really wanna get more adventurous with my coffee we just have the Tassimo coffee machine which as time has gone on I find quite boring tbh and not that many pods. I was actually looking at the bean machines the other day but I'd have no idea what to get and I think my bf would be offended as he only just got me my tassimo machine as a gift

I'm so tempted to make a James hoffmann thread - spends a few grand on equipment and then talks of all the parts that need to be replaced or tweaked in order to make a passable cup of coffee

This is awful I know but I find his videos weirdly soothing.

I've been using a dolce gusto to make latte for a while but recently invested in an aeropress and aergrind! Although I sometimes like the fact that it takes a little while and allows me to step away from my desk, I do miss the simplicity of just flicking two buttons for water and being able to walk away from the dolce gusto
I couldn't justify the counter space nor cost of a bean-to-cup machine though.. Maybe some day!

Does anyone watch James hoffmann? He's a terrible snob and trys all these coffee things that you know he'll proclaim as awful but knows his stuff and can be entertaining in small doses.

Although I think he's a bit shady for having so many views that he earns about £10-20k a month in YouTube ads + sponsored videos for a few more grand and still has a patreon to beg for cash. Just checked now and it's earning him £15'953 a month in donations. He says the patreon money is to make him impartial but really it's unnecessary and greedy imo. Although of course it's people's choice.

Plus don't forget about all the video sponsors, you can't tell me the coffee bags / grinders he gives away to justify it add up to anywhere near the amount he gets in sponsorship per video!

Although I have to say I do like his content and think it's informative and well researched a lot of the time (even if I totally agree with your points about him being a snob and the patreon being unnecessary)

Yep, he's really coining it in with three huge sources of revenue. It's handy to sell the patreon as how to get the stuff he tests as he's monetizing what he'd need to get rid of anyway. Making cash on getting rid of stuff is smart from a business pov.

I've been slowly making my way through every Nespresso pod and they're all pretty awful. Really don't understand how they sell so many. I'm not a snob or anything as any cheap real coffee made in french press or a bean to cup machine I usually find drinkable. But all the Nespressos have an unpleasant taste, particularly those with added flavours 🫤

costa coffee tastes like someone accidentally spilled acid in washing up liquid and tipped it into the toilet before putting it into your cup.

ive never had coffee that gives me heartburn and a headache at the same time, they should use it as an instrument of torture.

if anyone asks me to meet them for coffee and suggest Costa I cut that fucker out of my life, they’re clearly going to be to person who sneaks into my room at night and puts me under the patio before sunrise.

Have you ever had a Costa from one of their machines? you will be surprised!! I drink one or two costa machine drinks a day, until recently when the price went back up I used to have a cappuccino with caramel syrup.

Most working days I have as many Flat Whites from Pret as possible, at home it's the good old nescafe alzera.

I love coffee and have been drinking over 10 cups a day since I was a teenager.

For instant I like Nescafe Gold Blend. I have both a Tassimo and a Nespresso (my husband won the Nespresso at work). I use either Costa or L'or capsules for the Tassimo and just stocked up on a 3 for €10 deal in Tesco. For the Nespresso I use L'or capsules and won't make the mistake of trying any other again.

I have a frother that came with the Nespresso but rarely use it. I also have a cafetiere and was given a present of one of those Costa cups with the one use filter.

I go through phases on what I'll use most. Detest Starbucks and Bewleys (Irish) and also Kenco.
