Before I bore you to death, it was Kate Davies, the Intelligent Craftafarian, who made for me the connection to Marx's transcendental study of materialism and material culture, by her recommendation of this book. It's useful things made by Russians out of junk. Resurrection. What SJ is not achieving at the chateau despite torrents of money rolling in.Srsly, the straight-edge Marxist academics of the punk generation are all serious knitters, an interesting trend and ethically revolutionary. They subsidize sustainable sheep farming by young women farmers; they've infiltrated the hipper WIs like the one in Shoreditch (whose book of the month is Roxane Gay's Bad Feminist, ruh ro.) Younger art school grads in the UK as in Oz have made it into fiber art, including a school some call brutalist. Young men are doing it. There's a whole BIPOC fiber controversy and movement in Britain, with African and Asian inspired knits coming to the fore. It's been professionally ethicized and aestheticized.
It's definitely not granny tat.
Critics of which should know what they're talking about.

A stitch in time: how craftivists found their radical voice
If street protests are too shouty, craftivism may offer an alternative and still powerful means of political expressionwww.theguardian.com
Thank you!
Hudson‘s Bay is located in Canada off the Arctic Ocean. The French did settle in what is now Quebec but further south than Hudson‘s Bay. French fur traders would have travelled there for furs to bring back to the settlement for sale and then shipping to France.Do you know who were the first ones to arrive and funded a (very small) settlement at the Hudson Bay (where is now Brooklyn) ? The French in 1524 for the French king François Ist. They called it Nouvelle- Angoulême (New Angoulême ). The settlement was not very attractive for the French who left it to a handful of soldiers and pionneers.
Then, in 1624, some Dutch pionneers arrived and took over the small place to fund a prosperous town which they called New-Amsterdam.
The rest is history![]()
