The Chateau Diaries #402 Regretting getting down on one knee, 'cause you'd rather get down on two, eh Philip?

As you may know, the Puy Vidals are redoing an entire wing of their chateau, to include the kitchen and a smaller catering kitchen, and this! Not a hallway with miscellaneous junk crammed into it, it's their china room!

I'll also add that they started this wing's renovation after the holidays and will be done in a few weeks time. Unlike Stephanie, they DO have a partially listed building and it did not take years for approval or years for the project to complete!

I tried to watch them. Over and over I’d start one of the vlogs, he’d start talking and I’d immediately click out. He gives me major squicks.

I watch them now and then but vlogging just doesn't seem to come naturally to them.

Like this one started off lovely the music, flowers in the garden, the market.

Then they took delivery of a kitchen unit they got off Leboncoin (they're thrifty i'll give them that) and it was downhill from there. Sara going into raptures 'I'm going to have to have a lie down' She'd have been better just putting the camera down and helping.

Steve trying to off oad the cabinets with her sister's chap, then instead of helping, the pair of them more or less stood there watching their guests put the cabinet together.

Then the BBQ, again watching the people who gifted you it, cook your dinnr on it.

He must have either got hot n bothred with the excitement, washed his hair and forgot to slick it back (why he's grown it again? looked nicer shorter hey ho), high humidity bought out the curls or someone gave him a quick hair trim up.

They are probably a lovely couple and they've certainly intergrated into the local community but they just come across as the Chateauverse's poor relations.

is the shithole listed or not? If it’s not (as I suspect) then surely they can do the render as they please just like Dan at the CrispyChateau. Xanthe Williams is so full of tit she uses Glade for mouthwash!

As far as I'm aware it's not listed, she'd love it to be. She so wants the plaque

If it were a listed building I would have thought there would be all sorts of constraints with the Grrrrrand Salon reno, in fact anything they did there.

Of course they can render outside it won't take months/years for permission as where they are does not interfere with the locals/thoroughfare.

We have exactly the same cutlery with gold. My parents were always reminding us that it has to be washed by hand. Now I understand how easily it can be destroyed.

When will you be rendering the outside of the Chateau? The inside is coming together and the garden. The poor outside needs some rendering to make it look magnificent. I bet you could get volunteers to assist you.

Their chateau is already renovated to a state where they can make a living out of it. These purchases are either decor they have been looking for, or items for the guest dinner tables while some are replacements. To maintain a high standard for guests, some purchases will be ongoing, that is the reality of running a business.

I absolutely love the variety Stephanie provides in her vlogs—especially when she and Philip are driving through France, or eating in a great restaurant. I enjoy the projects at Lalande, but watching day after day of that sort of thing can be monotonous and is easily found on other chateau vlogs.

How ridiculous they have a max of 12 guests a week and offer one sit down meal no business needs to have 40 plus dinner services and without the grifted money neither would she it is not for business purposes it is avarice pure and simple. If only Stephanie had more depth than a plate she would not need all this rit

Morgan’s latest finally gives a date stamp…March 2025. Fences were coming down, her stuff from the sale of her Atlanta house had arrived (sold in like Jan/Feb 2025) and she said she was finding places for some things, while storing most. Ruby came for her first visit to see the chateau and the surrounding area.

I can’t wait to see what she has accomplished in a year. She hasn’t been giving much of a glimpse into furnished rooms yet in the vlogs that are more current in timing. I can’t wait to see how she marries her eclectic style to chateau surroundings.

I own a house situated in a "périmètre historique" and I am French, therefore I do know how things work because I have been through all these things. A permission for a non listed building in a non historic perimeter is even easier and quicker.

Do you know @Hercule P , they really do give my a a headache with the utter rit they spew out.

My house has just been re-rendered, the entire process from the initial phone call to get an estimate to completion under 12 weeks.

Plus, shock horror, I've used a French company. I've just accepted their estimate to do our drive way and am waiting on the price for shutters.

My hope is that all of this will be done before Summer kicks in.

So all of fan's excuses are pathetic..................................she doesn't want to spend the money, simple as that, unless it's for something decorative.

The lake restoration, facade and the biggest waste the heating system will never get completed. I'm even doubtful on the Grrand Salon. Will those walls get the correct insulation of will it be a cheap as chips inferior refit.

That fire screen was cheap because the embroidery was so faded as to have no colour left at all. If they bought less they could buy better quality.
